I raised our Canadian Flag this morning and placed it on our backyard deck, where it is now barely visible to the overgrown sixth fairway of Cedar Creek Golf course abutting our home here in Woodstock, Ontario.
A few golfers passing may see it, faded as it is, I fly it in Honour of my long passed parents, whom owned the faded flag, but loved what it stood for and meant to them, in their adopted country, Canada!
I will fly the faded flag until Tuesday and then take it down, fold it with respect, and God willing will fly it gain next year.
Should I not be on this plane of existence next year, I know that one of my children will do the same with the old faded flag of their Grandfather!
My parents loved Canada, despite the hard life it presented them and while they left Hungary in 1924/25 sadly, in the end, they never regretted their choice.
I am the last living Molnar of that Peter & Elizabeth Family, ( all baptized into the “Christ Principle” of life) that Molnar Family name does survive in Canada, all better educated than the parents who bore them.
