   That’s true, but the thing I love about this is all the spin doctors are working at cross-purposes to each other. The Chicoms, Russians, Americans, Brits, French, even our good ol’ Canadian dorks are all attacking the sh1t out of each other all over the media, saying all kinds of stuff, probably none of it true. Snowden is getting lies about all over the place, and he’s probably doing some lying too. Doesn’t matter. Cat’s out of the bag for good now.
   The Bigs in the computer biz are all trying to pretend its business as usual, and that there’s nothing to see here. Intel is pretending the NSA doesn’t have a special module in every CPU they sell, and isn’t included in the design of every Intel product. Apple is trying to pretend they don’t know within a foot where your iPhone is every minute of the day, and that they don’t relay all that info direct to the NSA second by second. Ditto Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, AMD, whoever. (Tinfoil hat? Anybody remember how the Yanks crushed Saddam’s C&C network during Desert Storm? HP printers had a trojan in their PROMs. That was in the 1990s. All your base are belong to NSA, baby.)
   But, Microsoft just backed WAY the h3ll off on their new gaming console DRM, because they got -flooded- with letters from gamers telling them in extremely graphic detail where to cram their new XBox if it only worked while attached to the internet.
   So the chaos is extremely revealing. Just compare lies and keep the popcorn bowl topped up.

3. The NSA has been totally corrupted by Obozo and needs to be remade. I totally understand the need to have the need for an entity such as the NSA to perform targetted interceptions of communications on potential enemies. Such interceptions should require a court order and the courts should not be secret. Secret court orders are far too subject to abuse. The strength of the US division of powers process is that it makes it far more difficult for a dictator to take charge although this system has been corrupted thus allowing Obozo to become a defacto-dictator of the US. This destruction of the US division of powers was initiated by the Bush administration and I recall members of this administration making statements like “the US constitution is not a suicide pact” in their desire to get around the very important limitations on state power that exist precisely to prevent the creation of a dictatorship by the likes of Obozo.
   Any individual coming from the military who has taken an oath to uphold the constitution would, if they were principled, resign rather than engage in an unconstitutional spying on the US public. Similarly, the use of a surveillance network designed to spy on US enemies should be used primarily for looking at what islamofascists are doing rather than ignoring this group of individuals. This willful disregard of America’s true enemies and focusing on patriot groups in the US tells me more than any other actions of the current criminal US government that its aim is the destruction of US democracy and its replacement with a totalitarian state. Thus, any agency, no matter how crucial it is to US security, that has been corrupted by the current US criminal regime needs to be totally torn down and remade with any members of the organization who have performed unconstitutional actions prosecuted.

   What you are witnessing now is the required bout of public indignation from the US government, countered by a modicum of schadenfreude from other countries that someone else has had their pants pulled down. But ultimately this to will pass, the media will get bored with Snowden (just as it did with Assange) and move on to new stories, the noise will die down and nations will quietly resume their various activities.
