Well known American blogger Pamela Geller is scheduled to speak in Toronto this month. But if the allegations are true, then some in the York Regional Police force appear to have decided that she should not appear:
Insp. Ricky Veerappan of the force’s diversity, equity and inclusion bureau, confirmed he and officers from the force’s hate crimes unit met with Rabbi Mendel Kaplan of the Chabad Flamingo Synagogue on Tuesday.
I’m interested in hearing the York Police response to this.
Have they become the deciding force for what is allowed in Canada? Will they release the list of activities that are allowed and which are not?
The police force should be sued.
I don’t trust that Geller woman.
Just last week a few of her devotees got caught planning to blow up a train full of people a few miles from here.

Any Toronto police officer, who wants to enforce Sharia Law should apply to for a transfer to Afghanistan or one of the other 56 Muslim countries that have Sharia Law over riding the U.N. Declaration on Human Rights.

What I want to know is why the rabbi caved in so easily when told by a pack of Teigs and Polaks and Pakistanis to not invite whomever he pleased to speak at his own synagogue.

How many “hate crimes” did the force’s hate crimes unit deal with last year?
The whole culture of the police seems to be changing, and not for the better. Are they doing it themselves, or is someone putting them up to it?
I blame “diversity training”, a. k. a. “sensitivity training”, in which a bunch of “anti-racist” fascists give orders to the cops. Who told the cops to listen? Why can’t they separate the valid stuff (don’t be racist, treat everyone the same way) from the nonsense?

It’s very simple. York region has most of the Muslim immigrants in Canada. They don’t really go too many other places. York region cop shop got some phone calls from their spies that the Pamela Geller thing was going to be a mob scene, with lots of hot heads breaking stuff. Possibly some imam phoned them and threatened a riot. Either way, there’s trouble in River City.
What’s the easy path here? Stop Geller from speaking, obviously. So little Ricky Veerappan gets a call from the suits up the chain of command somewhere. What’s his easy path? Lean on the rabbi, who has York region money he doesn’t want to lose.
That’s what’s going on. Lazy POS bureaucrats taking the easiest path, because they DO NOT CARE A D@MN about you or your “rights”.
As Canadians, we do not have rights. Legally, we don’t. The only thing that protects us is “common usage”. That means the cops don’t do anything which would create an uproar, because that is not the easy path. The -real- reason they don’t just arrest every troublemaker in the country and hurl them into jail head first is not law. It’s laziness.
I would not be shocked to hear that Pamela Geller has trouble at the Canadian border, either. Easiest thing in the world to do is make up some bullsh1t about “hate speech” and sent her packing. Prevents the whole hassle very neatly. It all depends whether York Regional Police poobahs have any friends in the Justice Ministry.
This is just another symptom of our police function being totally off the rails – it is both indoctrinated in compulsive politics and militarized – a deadly combination for civil liberty and justice. Perhaps if these idiots with gestapo instincts suffer a few civil suits this insane police overreach will subside. Something must be done to put the police state back in the jar.
Until the police function becomes properly adjusted it is wise to record every personal interaction with police.

Funny – I though modern policing was all about “bullying”. OTOH I fail to fing “bullying” in any criminal code statutes – there is something about assault and uttering threats but that would take real police wotk to enforce and I don’t think today’s diverse, equitable and inclusive force is up to the challenge – easier to bully people for their opinions.

1. York region has most of the Muslim immigrants in Canada. They don’t really go too many other places.
I estimate YR has approx. 70,000 Muslims. That’s less than 10% of Canada’s Muslim population. Muslims are distributed in Montreal (e. 100,000) and Alberta (61k) as well — mostly foreign born.
2. Ms. Geller should be allowed to speak. I have in the past stressed the concept of materiality. Spending $16 on a glass of orange juice is immaterial; squandering a 10 digit sum on CBC is more than material. So why am I posting about this one incident? That’s because it is an example of an incremental erosion of freedom. (Brings to mind the refusal of the feds to allow Pastor Terry Jones to enter Canada.) Add up the increments and it’s a substantial loss of freedom. If the trend continues, the government will keep taking away freedoms bit by byte until it’s too late for the frogs to find out they they have been boiled to death.
Not even the most dedicated Marxist, could fail to blush, if they had a bureau, named the diversity, equity and inclusion… Frankly, it sounds like one of those in house spots, you place all your troublemakers and tards…
