Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

You realize of course that this Pat Condel video is a repost of a comentary he did years ago….
Still good to see you noticed …. would be a good idea to link to Youtube to check out the comments from the “tolerant” left.
Pat has a way of uncomplicating convoluted issues and this rant is so overdue and so on the money, it should be made viral on the net.
“Progressives” are NOT liberals (ferkissake I’m a classic liberal), “neo-liberals” are not liberal. Liberalism was about civil freedom, where did that simple directive mutate into authoritarian statism? When statist communism went global and crept into our universities and policy think tanks.
Pat nails it “progressives” ARE “creepy”.
If he did this years ago he certainly was correct and prophetic about the dire situation in the Western world’s media.
Tom Kratman (the novelist) would no doubt agree with Mr.Condel, but in a more proactive manner!
Actually, it’s easy to see the comments – just click on the YouTube logo on the lower right hand corner and the YouTube viewer pops up in a new tab.
What a great video.
However, for those of us in Canada, his comparison between liberal and progressive may seem strange. He is correct of course, in the classical sense of the word “liberal”.
But in Canada I distinctly remember the jerk, Paul Martin, during his campaign for Prime Minister and leader of the “Liberal Party”, begging “all progressives” to come together to prevent Stephen Harper from becoming the new Prime Minister.
These “Liberals” in Canada, are Progressives. There can be no doubt.
So, there is a significant difference between “liberal” and big “L” Liberal.
Nothing could prove this more than the ascension to the Liberal throne of none other than the Progressive, Shiny Pony.
he nails it, very good. ty
> Progressives” are NOT liberals (ferkissake I’m a classic liberal)
I am too — that’s why the language war in politics is so tough.
A “liberal” is someone who favors liberty — and so I’m a liberal. The greatest threat to liberty is Big Government, so to be liberal in the classical sense is to be highly suspicious of governmental power and to favor reduction in government whenever possible.
The genius of the US Constitution is that it constructs a “liberal” plan for government — that is, a governmental structure that favors liberty. And so in the present day I am also a conservative, in the sense that I fight to *conserve* the liberty that the Constitution is designed to protect.
“Progressives” are not “liberal” — they are authoritarian leftists. They are one of the very classes of people from whom the Constitution is designed to protect us.
While listening to what Condell has to say, think about the nonsense that the “progressives” in the Media Party have already been spinning about the monsters who murdered innocent people in Boston. And know that this sympathetic attitude toward them will only get more supportive as the months & years wear on.
Pat hit the ball out of the park
“Progressive” and “liberal” have ever changing meanings. However, trying to get people worked up about the rate statistics in Sweden is misleading, since the stats in Canada are no better:

“…because progressive journalists are not interested in the truth, if the truth is incorrect.”
Pretty much sums it up nicely.

Pat Condel is as ignorant of politics as he is of religion.
‘Progressive’ is not a new term separate from Liberal, as Condel states, nor do they have new ideas.
The term ‘Progressive’ has been identified with ‘Liberals’ since at least the early 20th Century.(some may want to check out what luminaries such as JR Tolkien or CS Lewis-pals- or even the other signatories of the Humanist Manifesto thought about Progressive/Liberalism when they were boosters of this philosophy)

This ‘Right and Left’ paradigm concept is new to Pat Condel and it showed earlier last year when he stated in one of his video diatribes that National Socialism(Nazism) was ‘right wing’.
I love the way Condel rages against the machine, but the man doesn’t know beans about politics except what he’s told by his many Liberal friends.
Hey Pat!? Your friends are lying to you, you should get new ones.
Very eloquently put “I”. Thank you for that. Did you mean to post this in the “War On Literacy” post though?

Well, he definately nailed Team Obama.
Back in the old days a good journalist would go out to the street and find the truth. The late Ralph Klein was a good example of that when he worked for CFCN in Calgary as a reporter . Most of the lazy lard assed reporters employed by the MSM are too lazy and don’t want to get away from their cafĂ© lattes and Twitter to actually investigate a story anymore
I shake my head at the lengths many hardcore politicos go to in an attempt to wring some ultimate truth out of the posturing and rhetoric of the different political parties’ supposed ideologies.
News flash! This is politics. It’s ALL smoke and mirrors smothered in bullshit. The only ideologies the parties are truly dedicated to are the ones that will either get or maintain power at that point in time. Harper’s big left turn to broaden his support clearly shows that.
Pat appears to be yet another useful idiot dedicated to keeping citizens in their political bunkers, constantly bickering with each other over meaningless rhetoric instead of seeing the big picture….
ALL the major political parties are helping fast-track western civilization to oblivion.
No exceptions.
