  1. Well . . . Half a $Billion from the gumming.
Guess he is bailing now because he has run this con as far as he can and needs to move on to a new grift with new opportunities to scam the government.

  2. Well, he milked that government cash cow like a Wisconsin dairyman, now it’s time to move on.

  3. I think that I have finally figured out Tesla. I got stuck on the fact that they could never make money on electric cars (they are smart, they have to know that); why would people buy their stock, how can they stay in business with no profit? Then it occurred to me; for Tesla, cars are a loss leader! It seems obvious that the real money in the electric car business, comes from carbon trading and government subsidies. I can easily imagine a scenario, where Tesla loses money on every unit sold, but makes a billion in profit from its actual primary markets!
In short, Tesla motors has a rational business plan, for a world run by crazy people.

  4. His resignation probably caused by what Kevin above said, plus I suspect some future revelation about how subsisdy money was spent even more unwisely (if that’s possible) than on development of the cars. Solyndra appeared to have spent most of the money they received on the building and offices.

  5. If the Democrats had been in power when John Delorean was arrested for dealing coke they would have simply given him a non recourse loan and spared him the indignity of associating with low lifes. For the children. Darn you Ronald Reagan for seeing the light.

  6. I don’t have much trouble comprehending why people would believe subsidizing “green” companies is smart. But subsidizing a company that only makes 100k sports cars doesn’t even start to make sense. That just hurts my head.
