  1. Not sure what to do. The guy I think is the most useless and unelectable is the guy most likely to win? What about the lady Pierre knocked up? Is she a good one to vote for.

  2. There is no way on God’s green earth that I would vote for any of these people on any level or in any way. Even if it was to screw up the annointing.

  3. Can’t do it. I, and the rest of our union memebers, was asked by the union bosses to join the provincial NDP for more bargaining leverage in the mid-90s. Did it – still feel icky. Some lines should never be crossed.

  4. Any provision for a write in candidate? I was thinking Barney the Purple Dinosaur, just as good a choice as the characters running and a hundrd times better than Justin the Useless.

  5. Since these people are radical lefties I would assume that the reason for ANYONE being able to vote is to make it harder to figure out if voter fraud has occurred.

  6. This week Suzuki threw his weight behind Joyce Murray. Her “manifesto” is so heavily steeped in socialist ideas it is enough to make me ill:
    http://www.joycemurray.ca/policy
She wants the political parties to gang up on the Conservatives in the next election. She wants 40% of all government appointments to be women. Legalize pot. Carbon taxes. Sustainable food (whatever the hell that is). On and on.
Scary scary stuff. You can know that if Suzuki is backing her she is a kook.

  7. Afraid to open that festered page. Don’t want to have to soak my laptop in Javex to kill the ick!

  8. You cannot be a Liberal “supporter” if you are a member of another federal party. So, “anyone” is not quite correct. Otherwise, have at ‘er!

  9. What is going on??
male and female?? What about my gender of choice! Don’t label me!
And how much aboriginal is required? is 1/128 good enough?

  10. Thought I could carry forward on this but cannot lie that I’m not a member of another political party. Just can’t.

  11. If I thought Shiny Pony was trailing, I might be able to degrade myself for the cause.
But in the meantime, I’ll just follow Napoleon’s famous dictum about adversaries.
“N’interrompez jamais un ennemi qui est en train de faire une erreur.”

  12. Given the rather narrow gene pool of the leadership candidates, I vote for the banjo player.
Now having visited their web site, I’m off to take a shower.

  13. You should have warned me…I clicked on the link and went to the Lieberal Party website…now I feel really dirty and have to take another shower.

  14. I wont vote. Ethically it is too big of a breech (sp?)for me. I love the point being made however…
Were I a liberal, the best choice is very easy: Ms. Findlay. She truly seems to have a grasp of the issues and understands the political dynamic as well as the economic and market dynamic. I certainly don’t agree with everything she stands for, but i do respect the effort and earnestness that she has in putting them forward.
Juxtaposed against the elfin entity that spouts perfumed unicorn farts at every turn, that she is not a contender and he is a shoe-in tells you everything you need to know about what a lost, vacuous party the liberal party is and those who support it are.

  16. When it comes to the Liberal Party, I have no ethics, I am more than happy to kick this particular dead dog.
But who could I vote for that would do them more damage that Justin, son of Pierre the Idiot?
As they appear to be euthanizing themselves I guess I can just stand back, enjoy and snicker.

  17. Hmmm, sorely tempted to vote for the shiney pony, certainly not the best candidate. Any suggestions for the worst? But, then again, I’d like the Liberal party to be competitive with the NDP 🙂

  18. Since they finally caved and allowed the one member one vote process, the party establishment had to find some way to control the process by having a bloc of votes at their disposal.
What better way than to create the “supporter” votes that can provide a predetermined outcome.

  19. Agreed. Martha Hall Findlay is the only candidate running who can talk intelligently about the issues, and she is easily the best hope for the Liberals for a number of years. In fact, she would be much better off as a member of the small “Progressive Conservative” club within the CPC.

  20. Sooo….Way back when, when MSM usta be part of my viewing fare, M-H-F was apparently screwing the glib CTV prettyboy Tom Clark.
Where is the ol’ tomcat these days? Still on air? Down southside perhaps? Or are they still an item? (as if I give a rats).

  21. If you can’t bring yourself to vote for one of these people then you’re just proving how true my handle is. Unless you like the sound of Prime Minister Trudeau. If you’d vote in a Con race but not this one then you are hypocrite. The Liberals and Cons are equal in moral squalor.

  22. Sorry I do not comprehend.
How can I help further FUBAR the Liberals any better than they will do by selecting Justin the tax dollar suck?

  23. Apparantly not anyone can vote (still hold another party membership) but honestly i still think that we need a strong Liberal party cause the NDP just scare the crap out of me, And politics being what they are the Conservatives will not be in power forever. So in my opinion the best option is Martha Hall-Findlay as she has the most common sense of the lot.

  24. TJ,it’s better than that. She’s nearly a complete idiot:
“I would ensure that no less than 40 per cent of government appointments to agencies, boards and commissions – including a future Liberal cabinet – are women and no less than 40 per cent are men”
So what sideshow carnival makes up the other 20%? /wondering
“In 2011, Stephen Harper took power with less than 40% of the popular vote — meaning the Conservatives were elected by less than one quarter of Canadians”
How odd. I wasn’t aware that 40% equaled one-quarter of anything. That must be the “new math” they’re teaching nowadays. I wonder if she groused when cretin won a majority with 38% of the popular vote?

  25. I’m pretty much certain that you’re not going to win over Canadians with Joe Clark-style pieties — “I’ve been given substantial opportunities, and now it’s time for me to give back…”, or “I’m keeping the party open to [in this case] ANYBODY…”, blah, blah, blah. Both Brian Mulroney and Jean Chretien drove a bulldozer through that pile of excrement from [name of your animal of choice here].
As Mark Steyn has persuasively argued in the past, it’s all about the differences, not the sameness, and even the most cursory read of William Johnson’s biography of Stephen Harper would tell you very clearly that Harper has positioned himself as the sole legatee of Mr. Trudeau, Sr.’s brand. Which, as it happens, Mr. Harper reaffirmed about two weeks or so ago now, in respect of the SCOC reference on Senate reform or abolition. All of which is why Quebec absolutely hates him, but absolutely respects him, at the same time.
As for Martha, who is not an MP, due to her, er, defeat at the hands of her Conservative opponent in Willowdale, I’m also pretty much certain that it would be a very interesting debate between her and Steve Harper on supply management (zzzzzzzz….), etc. (zzzzzz…), at the end of which the Liberals would be claiming, “Rise up, you stupid people, don’t you understand that Stephen Harper is raiding the federal treasury to build outhouses in Muskoka!”
It ain’t gonna happen for the Liberals…We’re still fighting the NDP.
On the other hand, I’m much happier with the tone of the comments thus far, which are far less defeatist than the comments the other night on the subject of Justin Trudeau — I guess folks have had their moment looking into the dark side of life, and decided that the light side looks much better.

  26. Oh, we are all much happier with light comments…and that is why we are ‘here and now’.
But there are times when the three monkeys routine is not in a nation’s best interest.

  27. Gotta watch out for Deborah Coyne. She does have brains and might even have integrity. Not at all likely to win (Margaret Wente doesn’t like her) but might be unexpectedly strong if she does win.
How should one vote? Justin looks like his mother, but just might win. He’d probably do well against Thomas Mulcair. I just can’t see the best way to go.

  28. I have to admit I am without a clue on this one. Hell Americans re-elected the worst president to ever occupy the white house so a disaster could just as easily happen here. I would have to go with Hall-Finley because sometimes she actually makes sense.

  29. I looked at all the candidates……and then projectile vomitted.

  30. mhb > When you have minimums of 40% men and 40% women, you have inherent maximums of 60% of either. It doesn’t require having 20% being non-women.
And roughly 1/4 of eligible voters voted Conservative in 2011. 39.6% of 61.1% is 24.1%. MHF is correct that less than 1/4 of Canadians voted for the Conservatives. That’s still, of course, more than voted for any other party by a large margin. But both sides complain of unfairness when they lose.
So, with respect, you should reconsider thinking MHF is an idiot if that was your basis.

i’d just love to be there at the convention for the
    one-on-one part of the debate…
    j. trudeau: “well… he changed my poopy bum.”
    d. coyne: “sorry kid, gotcha beat there too.”

  32. In my Canadarrogance I have always thought that our American cousins, at least the tax-paying ones, would one day snap out of their hypnotic state and query “I voted for who?”. Justin Trudeau will, without a doubt, win the Liberal leadership. The NDP, due to their “only Quebec matters” pandering has already totally alienated their NDP base in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC. Most NDP have been indoctrinated to hate Stephen Harper so the ex-NDP vote will likely go to Trudeau. Then WE may wake up some day in the not too distant future, snap out of our hypnotic state, and query “we have who as Prime Minister?”

  33. EWS
“and query “we have who as Prime Minister?”
should read,”we have what as a prime minister?”

  34. I watched a bit of the “debate” the other day. The one where the substitute teacher walked off the stage near the end. If you saw the crowd applauding Justin you noticed most of them were “white hairs”. My age, so they were the other dummies who voted for his dad like I did.It appears I have gained some wisdom in the following years. Awfully depressing to see. The enemy is so normal looking.
