It’s Probably Nothing

ABC News;

North Korea threatened in January to carry out a “higher-level” test following the Dec. 12 rocket launch. At the time, North Korea’s new leader Kim Jong-Un said his country’s weapons tests were specifically targeting the United States.
The suspicious tremor comes just hours before President Obama is to give the State of the Union address, and it marks the first diplomatic test in the region for new Secretary of State John Kerry.

More“it’s very possible that the North Koreans are testing for two countries.”

  1. There is no serious effort on the US’ part to deal with North Korea. I would suggest the real test is for South Korean incoming president Park Guen-Hye. Any “Sunshine-Lite” policy will not work for the younger Kim who must rattle his own sabre.
    Just my thoughts.

  2. Cutting back nukes makes sense. Less of them to maintain. The US should just leave SE Asia. They need to take care of themselves.

  3. I suspect that North Korea’s larger problem right now would be an invasion by the Chinese to stop the “Norks” from destabilizing China’s biggest customer, the U.S. When the Chinese issue “cautions” they are generally followed by action. Watch your back, Kim Jong Un!
LAS – you are a waste of bandwidth, please find another website to play on.

  4. But disarming his own people is his priority this term. Who does this mutt really work for, it ain’t America.

  5. The USofA tells Iran and NKorea they can’t have nukes, sorta like telling Americans they can’t have ‘assault rifles’.
More meaningless posturing from a failed empire.

  6. Where’s Douglas MacArthur when you really need him!
“The enemy is in front of us, the enemy is behind us, the enemy is to the right and to the left of us. They can’t get away this time!”
    ― Douglas MacArthur

  7. Relax! It was actually invented by a friend of mine at a party years previous. Or so he claimed. He said he had witnesses and demonstrated how he developed it. Yeah, there was booze involved and the more we laughed, the more serious he got.

  8. Progressives admire regimes like North Korea because government has absolute control over the people, how they will live, and how they will die. Ideology is meaningless to true progressives, power and control is their only objective. Any slight technological advance is proof enough to them that the system works, especially if that proof involves a threat to free people.
Obama doesn’t care about this test, neither does Kerry or any of the others.

  9. I remember Christmas 1967 when Swift Boat Captain John Kerry and I took a boatload up the Bong Son river and delivered nuke materials and weapons to the North Koreans and the Khmer Rouge.
He is a real hero and will deliver us from the Norks.
    you’ll see, YOU’LL SEE !

  10. Man, if those silly North Koreans don’t watch it, Ol’ ‘bama will give them a taste of what he gave Iran. That’ll fix ’em, eh?

  11. As with guns, so with nuclear weapons: the problem is not the weapon but the owner. In the Obaminable New World Order every state which wishes to maintain its independence needs nuclear weapons, just as it needs rifles, tanks, and attack aircraft.
    Canada needs nuclear weapons NOW!

  12. “Canada needs nuclear weapons NOW!”
I’ll second that, just to see lefty heads explode all over this Country!
I remember the days optimists said Kim Jong Il would be more reasonable than his daddy,Kim Jong Il,then Kim Jong Un was said to be possibly more modern and progressive than HIS Daddy. Nope, each was a chip off the old block.
Ya gotta give that family credit for consistency.
I wish Ike was still President.

  13. Second that! I’d like to see Stephen Harper make a speech in which he offers speculation that Canada “might be forced” to withdraw from the nuclear weapons non-proliferation treaty, given that the U.S. nuclear umbrella under which we shelter is becoming a little threadbare.

  14. If the US weren’t broke and had a President on the side of the US Constitution, he could resolve the NORK problem by suggesting to the Chi Coms that the US is fine with NORK NUKEs as long as you are fine with S Korean, Taiwanese, and Japanese Nukes. Given that that won’t happen, those nations along with all Anglosphere nations (Canada, NZ, Australia) should get them and soon.

  15. If Obummer told Canada he will shield you under our nuclear umbrella you might consider investing in a fallout shelter..

  16. No problem here. Tough measures to be taken, maybe a bit too harsh?
Word is Obama is going to put Kim Jong Un on “double secret probation”.

  17. The only thing this administration will be attacking NK with is foreign aid.
WRT their dear leader just tell the little pipsqueak to get a life or a drink or something. If they even get close to delivery capability this wart on the world will find itself crushed starting with the wart on their dear leader’s butt; oh, and their people suffer on – comme d’habitude – poor folk.
That’s the part that really sucks.

  18. Why would it be awkward if Obama were to cut down the number of US nukes? The US has an estimated 5,000 nukes. Like any more or less would make a difference in dealing with North Korea? Is this really something you want to argue about? Really?

  19. China just doesn’t want to upset the apple cart. If the US decides to run ANY interference, China runs the risk of losing its precious buffer state. Obama will not do anything; that’s a given. But will President Park do something? Will her decision to use a soft stance now change? It had better because the status quo on the Korean Peninsula will not last forever.
John, the US, even under Obama, would not turn Seoul into a sea of fire. Handing a nuke to North Korea or Iran doesn’t just change the military landscape; it could change the physical one.

  20. Man, if those silly North Koreans don’t watch it, Ol’ ‘bama will give them a taste of what he gave Iran. That’ll fix ’em, eh?

Yeah, nothing like a strongly worded letter of condemnation to make them change their evil ways. Everybody knows Ø does nothing without first checking with his Chinese masters. Gung Hey Fat Choi
