Thank you for that clip EBD. It stuck a “chord” with me. I was born in Nakusp, BC but my family lived in the tiny town of Edgewood, not far away. Not far from Edgewood was a tiny church where I was baptised. We eventually moved back to my folks’ home province of Saskatchewn where I have lived and loved ever since.
One day my family and I were looking at pictures from where I lived back then and there was a picture of that church. Dad told me that every time he thought of that church, the song “Little Brown Church in the Vale” always came to mind.
Thanks, EDB, for reminding me of that little church where I was baptised and also of my dad who went home to Jesus 3 1/2 years ago. My own family and I travelled through that beautiful Inanoclin (fonetic??) Valley in 1985 and I got to see that little brown church with my own eyes. A wow moment.
The Carter family has left its mark.

So, apart from make-work solutions, call centres for public utilities, checkout chickery and hamburger flipping, there are few opportunities for what is becoming the unemployed underclass. The relevant occupations of the past, like domestic service, labouring, agricultural work and so on, have become unavailable to the superior white people, who become dependent on charity while the dignity of work is exported. Bowman’s unorthodox soybean farming techniques have landed him at the center of a national battle over genetically modified crops. His legal battle, now at the Supreme Court, raises questions about whether the right to patent living things extends to their progeny, and how companies that engage in cutting-edge research can recoup their investments.
What Bowman did was to take commodity grain from the local elevator, which is usually used for feed, and plant it. But that grain was mostly progeny of Monsanto’s Roundup Ready beans because that’s what most Indiana soybean farmers grow. Those soybeans are genetically modified to survive the weedkiller Roundup, and Monsanto claims that Bowman’s planting violated the company’s restrictions.
Those supporting Bowman hope the court uses the case, which is scheduled for oral arguments later this month, to hit the reset button on corporate domination of agribusiness and what they call Monsanto’s “legal assault” on farmers who don’t toe the line. Monsanto’s supporters say advances in health and environmental research are endangered.
And the case raises questions about the traditional role of farmers.
For instance: When a farmer grows Monsanto’s genetically modified soybean seeds, has he simply “used” the seed to create a crop to sell, or has he “made” untold replicas of Monsanto’s invention that remain subject to the company’s restrictions?

Pay ’em for a generation or two, but as far as I’m concerned, the seed would/should have gotten the same mutation thru evolution. Just a wee bit slower, than in a lab.

No. Gene splicing entails splicing a gene that has a specific trait into another plant thereby creating a new plant with a novel adaptation. Intellectual property rights have always been patentable in the past and I don’t see that changing. Bowman is deliberately attempting to nullify the patent.
So the pope got really pissed during one of his shifts and quit his job. But the question lingers; has he been pope long enough to qualify for papal unemployment insurance benefits?

So CIDA has cut off the grant of a Christian charity doing God’s work in Uganda, for having the gall to to take God’s teaching on sodomy seriously, and saying so.
It is of course, a slap to the Ugandans as well, who still take God’s opinions and commands regarding sodomy seriously, and have themselves had the nerve to discuss openly the threat posed to Ugandan society by sodomy, and how best to stop perverts recruiting their children, in a way unheard of in other allegedly Christian nations.
