When I heard him say that in a clip (You couldn’t pay me to listen to him), the only thing I could think of was that his grovelers and mindless drones wouldn’t pick-up on it but his writers likely had a chuckle over what it would do to conservatives. I believe them to be so bold because there is no mainstream media that cares what conservatives think or say. The institutional left is in control and unlike much of the the sludge in the GOP, they don’t give a flying frig about bipartisanship. As evil as they are, when in power, the left uses it!

    I’m glad he used THAT phrase,as I’ve always had as much confidence in Obama as in Chamberlain. Now,if only there was a Leader somewhere bent on world domination, I mean beside the UN, so the USA could bail out it’s economy with a good old fashioned war.They could draft only Republicans.
    I guess the war on Climate Change will have to do,but Obama may lose to Ma Nature even with his god-like qualities.

    Ok, so ‘peace in our time’ is no sonnet, so we can probably reduce the number of participants and the timeline greatly! By this reasoning, Hey, this could be entirely co-incidental!

    Why be conservative at $5/gal? The way they are printing money to fund their obscene deficit, gas could be worth double that. And the real unemployment rate is already double digit, in the 15% range, includes those that have given up.
    The US is a complete flustercluck right now, Bammy’s media doesn’t dare tell the truth, fantasy is better than reality.     He’s a preacher, someone encased in the isolation of Words, Words, and more Empty Words.
    He’s also a malicious and vindictive person, who will destroy anyone who counters or opposes him. And he does enjoy his nightly selection of ‘Who Shall I Kill With My Drone Today’. Now, that’s pathological.
    Oh, and he’s utterly ignorant. As the UK Prime Minister and others have said, the war we are in against Islamic fascism, will take decades. Decades.
    And, similar to the former war against communism, which was waged in Central and South America, watch what happens to these jihadists now operating in S.Asia and the MENA. Watch what happens when they begin to lose control over their political agenda. They’ll turn to crime, to running drug empires, to human smuggling. Watch..the Islamic fascists will move from Islamic ideology to criminality within the next decade.

  21. Chamberlain may have been naive, but he did buy time for his country which – in 1938 – was woefully unprepared for war. They weren’t that prepared in 1939; but at least his appeasement gave the English a year to begin the onerous task of upgrading their military.

    The unattributed use of Chamberlain’s most (in)famous quotation is very odd, indeed, and raises some questions about Obama, considering both the quotation’s genesis and the context in which the former prime minister made the remark. As the story goes, according to William Manchester’s version, if memory serves, Mr. Chamberlain’s wife said, “Now go out there and say, ‘Peace in our time.'” To which Chamberlain responded, “No, I don’t do that sort of thing.” Whereupon, he did just that. So, it appears to have been a sort of malapropism from a quiet man otherwise lost for words, rather than a carefully constructed summation of policy intent.
    Not that Chamberlain, given his circumstances in time, didn’t carefully consider what he was doing: say what you will about him, there’s a fairly good case that he made a calculation about the English-speaking world’s best interests in dealing with Hitler — that he was “wrong” in choosing the path-of-least resistance, literally, over principle is a much more near-run thing than many would suppose, and partly the result of the Churchill legend (see, for example, Andrew Roberts’s “A History of the English-Speaking Peoples since 1900”, in which Chamberlain fairs rather well against Churchill — and I’m for Churchill, first, last and always). The Churchill legend, by the way, is partly predicated on the refusal of the British left (including the Labour Party, George Orwell, Malcolm Muggeridge, etc.) to support a national government under Chamberlain or Halifax.
    Regardless, as Manchester and Paul Reid point out in “The Last Lion: Winston Spencer Churchill, Defender of the Realm, 1940-1965”, Chamberlain personifies the change in the vernacular definition of appeasement from “pacifying” to “betrayal and surrender”. And folks will remember, I hope, that the clear and present danger to Britain in 1938 was no less than Nazi Germany — which was slightly closer, more organized and militarily powerful, I’m thinkin’, than the band of 8th Century kooks with iPhones that Mr. Obama is facing today. Why, apparently, when you’re bored with the Shiny Pony coronation spectacle, you can take up reading about the combat history of the 23rd Panzer Division! Who knew? And, please, pass me the book.
    All of which raises a couple of questions that I can think of:
    1. Does Mr. Obama understand the ghostly nature of what he said? He can recite. Evidently, he was able to read his speech (I couldn’t watch, either, as the most horrific show is The Incredible Spineless Wonder — a Churchillism, in respect of Stanley Baldwin). But I can’t think of another American President in my lifetime that would ever have spoken in those terms. How about, “Peace with honour.” Or, even, “America always wins the war, but loses the peace.”
    2. Is Mr. Obama capable of making threat assessments against the United States? And can he really rise to the occasion of countering those threats, in defence of the American people, and their allies?

    No, I actually meant mindless Drones as in male Bees that are kept around and fed by female workers until they have accomplished fertilization of a Queen and then driven off until next time, similar to much of Obama’s electorate – useful for an election but not much else.
    As for the Chamberlain connection, Obama has more in common with the Fuhrer than Neville. Obama,s ambitions do not appear to be world or regional conquest but of more complete domination over and destruction of the remnants of liberty in the once proud Republic. What he can’t directly enact as socialism, he is content to do with a more fascist veneer (Obama-care). Obama’s foreign policies consist of sophomoric attitudes but in practice, come across as schizophrenic and aside from the unspoken goal of diminished foreign involvement capacity are only a distraction from his domestic transformation agenda. He would be happy to use the ambitions of the UN to force submission on the 50% of Americans for whom he has done a very poor job of hiding his contempt.

  25. I think Ohbummer used the phrase “peace in our time” on what he perceived to be its own merits, and it had nothing to do with Chamberlain.
    Remember that socialism is a government at war with its own citizens. Therefore there can be no peace in the world as long as socialism exists.

    That reminds me of a conversation I had with a young woman who put up a poster of “Che” on the office wall one day.
    Me: “So you put up a poster of Che.”
    Young woman: “Who’s that?”
    Me: “The guy on the poster” – followed by my explanation of who he was and the origin of the photograph.
    Young woman: “Oh, is that so. I just put up the poster because it looked good.”
    I suspect Bam Bam used “peace in our time” because whilst hanging with the choom gang and reading a book he ran into the phrase and it stuck in his head because it sounded so good. He essentially plagerized the phrase and he hasn’t got a clue what sort of baggage it carries. If he did have a clue, people wouldn’t be asking to see his transcripts.

    Who here remembers the history they were taught about the Battle Of Britain, that at one point the RAF was within 24 hours of collapsing under the Luftwaffe onslaught?
    That year that Chamberlain bought with the Munich Agreement of 1938, regardless of uttering the oh-so-wrong unfortunate phrase, meant the difference between victory and defeat.
    Don’t forget that the generation who fought WWI called that war, among other names, “the War to End All Wars”.(literally means “Peace in Our Time and Forever”)
    Obama(or his speech writers at least) should have no such illusions in the Information Age, especially while arming every bloodthirsty gang of thugs from the Mexican drugs cartels to al-Qaeda and slashing the American defence budget at the same time.
    I’m surprised he isn’t just giving the U.S. Navy ships he’s decommissioning to the Somali pirates as a sign of good will!
