Well, this seems a remarkable act of clemency. I thought the penalty for leaving Islam was death.
I may be getting a little paranoid but everywhere I go in Toronto there are muslims. When you see the unemployed statistics in Europe it begs the question, here are lots of educated young people looking for work, people of our culture, why do we continue to allow the immigration of a proven threat to our way of life while ignoring these young people who could continue to enhance it?
As a CPC Board member you can be sure I am asking this question of our MP.
That is the future here.
Egypt’s new shria-based constitution does not contain any prohibition against slavery, unlike the old constitution which made slavery illegal.
If you have a blue-eyed, blonde, Christian daughter considering a vacation in Egypt, I suggest you make damn sure she knows this the next time she considers a vacation in Egypt.

Why did she convert in the first place? It’s not uncommon for women in Islamist countries to be forcibly converted. So she wanted her family’s inheritance. So what? What right does anyone have to compel religious feeling?
Meanwhile in an unrelated announcement the Egyptian government sent an arrest warrant to Interpol issued against a Mr. George Costanza who recently converted to Latvian Orthodox.

For going through the formality of officially changing her faith in this hellhole she gets 15 years in prison. Who cares what her motivation was? How one is registered with the Egyptian state has little to do with the inner life of the person.
The point here is that sharia law does not permit conversion from Islam to any other religion, even in this case where the person was Christian to begin with.
In Iran Youcef Nadarkhani, a pastor, was recently sentenced to death for having converted from Islam in his youth.
By the way it was her inheritance she was after, not someone else’s money.
