Where I live, VALE had fairly recently a year long strike in Sudbury Ontario.
The arrogant “you’re with us or against us” mentality of the USW 6500 was prevalent. They tried to browbeat small business owners to put signs up in their windows declaring support for their strike, or else if they didn’t they vaguley theatened that their business would be ruined as a result. A group of them stalked and severly beat a replacement worker that went across their line to work. When they had been served with an injunction for a massive and illegal picket and the OPP responsed to disperse them, they put women and children of their own families to the front of the line so as to deter the OPP from carrying out the court injunction and removing them. They would show up at their little picket camps with expensive trucks and campers while claiming that they were being “starved out” by the greedy company. A few members even gave an interview to the media to that effect with trucks in campers in the immediate background. They whined constantly about the “foreign Brazilian company”, but ignored the inconvenient fact that the USW is an American union. “These are the friends and associates and supporters of a particular president, and they all want attention from him,” Rutherford added.
According to the report, Clinton’s library cost 165 million dollars and George W. Bush has brought in more than 300 million dollars for his library, which is due to open next year.
