Your Moral And Intellectual Superiors

Via Instapundit;

Take for example the world’s richest man, Carlos Slim, a Mexican national of Lebanese descent who is insanely wealthy thanks to the endemic cronyism of the Mexican telecommunications industry. He also bailed out the New York Times Company with a $250 million loan in 2009 and as of October 2011 owned a little more than seven percent of the property. What do you know, the Times is not exactly flooding-the-zone with reporting on Slim’s treasure chest, his interconnectedness with global politics, and the outer limits of his ambition. When Slim visited Washington, D.C., in February to huddle with Hillary Clinton, Janet Napolitano, Ron Kirk, Gene Sperling, Julius Genachowski, John Bryson, John Kerry, and others, only Univision and the WFB deigned to mention it.”

  1. Media never ‘bite the hand’ that feeds it money.
    Otherwise, they will behave like respectable bloodthirsty wolves.
    But of course they are always ‘independent and objective’ blah, blah, blah…insert standard soapbox statement for public consumption.

  2. Speaking of media indifference, what about this new takeover, with all due credit to Obama? Remember how Obama mocked Romney as ‘the King of outsourcing jobs’?
    Obama, in his relentless agenda of obtaining votes from Identity Blocs, went after the environmentalists with his solar panels and electrical energy sources. He spent a LOT of taxpayer money on these industries and most of them are now bankrupt. Here’s another.
    “Obama is not likely to discuss another big business story of the day – the sale of the assets of battery maker A123 to a Chinese competitor. A123 spent at least $132 million of its $249 million stimulus package grant to build two Detroit-area factories, including one in Livonia, right next door to Redford Township, where Obama is speaking today.
    Assuming a bankruptcy judge and the Obama Treasury Department approve of the sale of A123’s assets to Wanxiang Group, the Chinese battery maker would immediately become the dominant force in the industry”.
    No, I’m not against Chinese investment as are others. My point is instead that the Obama centralist government rejects the free market competitive system, which would on its own decide whether or not these industries have value.
    Instead it used taxpayer money to totally sideline and nullify this vital market evaluation. As a result it lost that money to the taxpayers. That’s centralist ‘social engineering economics’.
