In November 2010, Trudeau told a Quebec television show that he was tired of Albertans running the country and that, whether it was Jean Chretien or Brian Mulroney, Canada is better off when Quebecers are running the country.
“Canada isn’t doing well right now because it’s Albertans who control our community and socio-democratic agenda. It doesn’t work,” Trudeau said in French to interviewer Patrick Lagace on the Tele-Quebec program Les francs-tireurs (The Straight Shooters).
Lagace then asked Trudeau if he thought Canada was “better served when there are more Quebecers in charge than Albertans?”
Trudeau replied: “I’m a Liberal, so of course I think so, yes. Certainly when we look at the great prime ministers of the 20th century, those that really stood the test of time, they were MPs from Quebec… This country – Canada – it belongs to us.”
Oops.
Update: Trudeau summons his best substitute teacher skills to draft a stinging rebuttal.

First rule in politics: when you are in a hole, stop digging. Then we have this:
“We need to get beyond the divisive politics of the Conservatives and include all Canadians.”
Pretty Pony needs to acknowledge he played the divisive card first, reinforced by Dalton’s dumber brother this week. Only way out of this one was to say something like, “Yes, it was a silly comment made years ago. It no longer reflects my views.”
Ken Kulak: “Even his mother had more brains.”
Well there wasn’t much there to begin with. Not after she made the front page of a magazine years ago at a New York nightclub, blasted out of her mind and flashing everything she had at the bystanders.
The best thing that could happen for the Conservatives is Justin as Lieberal leader.
I hope this doesn’t impact his leadership race. Knowing how dumb Liberals are and also the fact that there’s what I hope turns out to be massive “operation chaos” going on here it likely won’t. Just imagine the other goodies the CPC has squirreled away on this joke.
next one who says “my Canada includes Quebec” deserves a kick in the nuts.
This is all the more reason to join the Liberals as a ‘supporter’ and support Findlay. Trudeau is exceedingly electable.
cgh, every time I see Justin with his beard I think of that picture of his mother sitting on the floor of that New York nightclub flashing hers!
Talk about nailing the divisive liberal butt up against the wall with a nine inch roofing nail, watch liberal media cover his backside whilst dribbling spit in adoration. Nothing more sickening then watching hetro married men lust after Justin.
LAS, Trudeau better not be electable. He will divide this country more then even his arrogant, elitist father ever could. And that’s saying something.
This is so typical of Quebec politicians. Say one thing in French in Quebec and another thing in English to the ROC.
Can we never be rid of this miserable family?
At this rate the MSM are going to have to make up more excuses to cover up for this royal gaffe machine,Canada’s royalty indeed.
McGuinty was likely forced to apologise and quit his shadow portfolio. Will Rae also demand Trudeau walk the plank? I am thinking the money-men behind the party will demand something drastic. Trudeau’s remarks do not help their fund-raising efforts at all, and that is where the Libs have been working hardest. It is also where they are most vulnerable.
Trudeau is doing exactly what Obama was doing to play to the voter block he wanted.
Who’s advising the Liberals?
Are they using US-style politics that won an election for a Marxist?
Pay attention folks. Know what Bammy’s handlers did. I’ll bet they are off whispering in the wings to the Lieberals.
Apparetnly according to Wherry, Jason Kenney was asked the following:
1) Another reporter suggested that it was a “little desperate” to be digging up two-year-old quotes.
2)It was suggested that it was a bit odd to be going after a third party’s leadership candidate like this.
I want the names and organizations of these reporters. Anyone witness this?
I should add that such remarks likely cost him dearly with young voters too, which is tantamount to shooting his own foot off. Which, unlike his career in politics, is something wee Justine appears be very good at. All hat and no cattle as they say.
These remarks, publicized now, will help the Liberal Party in Quebec. They want that, for Mulcair considers that HE owns Quebec.
Annoyed at November 22, 2012 6:49 PM
I don’t see this as being a feint. The timing is terrible with the McGuinty gaffe and the response is also not in-line with such a gambit. How could such statements help him when it won’t even go over well in Quebec? While you are likely correct in assuming they were planning on repeating the Obama strategy, this stuff just doesn’t help them at all.
How about this 2012 quote from the silver pony.
“No one will seriously question my loyalty to this country that I will fight for to my dying breath.” Justin Trudeau
http://www.torontosun.com/2012/02/15/no-regrets-over-separatist-blunder-trudeau
Not quite up to Churchill standards – “We shall fight in France, we shall fiht on the seas and oceans, – – – – -. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in ther streets —– we shall never surrender.”
Well if Justin is a chip of the old block Pierre, and puts up the same fight his Dad did in World War Two, and we all know what that was, as recorded in history, all is lost. Wars are not won driving motorcycles up an down Montreal streets wearing a German helmet while your contemporaries are overseas engaged in the real battle.
Fidel Castro was an honourary pall bearer for Pierre Trudeau and he is the godfather of all the children.
just sayin’
well Fiddle Caster isn’t all THAT bad, he’s only credited with 140,000 deaths, which isn’t realy up to lefty standards!!!!
The story is on the main page at the Globe and Mail web site. Some of the brilliant and hilarious comments here would be great to see on that site.
Go, comment, and thumb!!
Well …. He IS the best they can do!
Notice how Justin rebutted the publicity of HIS anti-West remarks.
He accused the Conservatives of making ‘a fuss’ about it, because their usual tactics are to ‘divide the country’.
Now wait a minute. It was Justin Trudeau that divided Canada into The Good and The Bad, with Quebec as The Natural Ruling People.
Lori at 8:19:
The Globe article didn’t give much play on young Trudeau’s comments before segueing into a half dozen paragraphs on the Liberal leadership fundraising which,in my view, is an indicator of how the left wing media will be downplaying the issue to the extent they can.
Like Father like “son”… Turdo 2 is exactly the same divisive, indoctrinated, ideological nit-wit as Turdo 1, a bigoted, tribal “francophone” supremacist pandering to the tribe in Quebec, while the English speaking media sell the image and the personality of the “messiah” without the nuisance of historical vetting. “He’s the saviour… trust us”, says the media. Turd 2 is a true Liberal, in the Trudopian sense, in that he’s not a Liberal at all, but rather someone who believes Canada should be re-shaped, distorted, or socially engineered into the warped tribal vision of his deranged, Canada hating Father. Keep the laughs coming substitute drama teacher.
oh my goodness… shiny pony politician talks and is willing to say anything that will win him another vote. 20 years ago you could get away with talking from both sides of your mouth (and nobody noticed.)
i think those days are like so fred flinstone.
i think that justin is like a caricature/cartoon.
and the dinosaur he rode in on.
Son of Tredeau is a liar.
Same merde, different generation.
We all need to remember this, folks. Obama said lots of dumb divisive things too, and he got himself elected…TWICE!
assuming common sense in the electorate’s brains is foolish…
i used to think peeair was stupid, but this welp has him by a half step!
can’t you just imagine this idiot running canada.
That God we have Stephen Harper………and Sun News!
But Obama also had states where no ID was required to vote so his corrupt followers could vote for him all day. Justin won’t have that luxury. He will have to find some other way to cheat.
Liberals cheat…it’s what they do best. The little puke will also have most of the media on his side.
I have lost much hope in the common sense of people. See the recent Alberta election and of course, Obama’s re-election. That one is still a head-scratcher.
Also, divisive statements rally their base. The eastern elites love that stuff. Toss in some “war on women” crap (yes, the A word), and that also helps their cause.
hey, I’m a BCer looking at the likelihood the Dippers will win next May. Voters sometimes are not too smart.. Please forgive me if I’m not feeling too hopeful these days.
Justin: the spawn of the village idiot and little bo peep.
YAHOOOOOOO! Got me a whole pail a roofing tar here. This’n be FUN! Anybody got sum feathers? I jes caint wait fur im to show up here bouts.
Soccermom, this is the worst possible time for this to have happened for Trudeau. He absolutely had to have a good swing out west to have any hope of being leader and that all just blew up in his face. What makes it so devastating it that the Libs can’t stop stuff like this coming out any more, thanks to Pierre Karl Péladeau. Just remember that there is much, much more of this sort of thing just waiting to be aired. If he wiggles out of this somehow it will be just a matter of time until more of his words come back to haunt him. I won’t even mention that his trip likely cost a lot of borrowed money which is also down the drain now.
dave, 6:09p.m. — Now that’s juxtaposing worth the cover charge! Still laughing over that one!
john g, 6:59p.m. —
“It was suggested that it was a bit odd to be going after a third party’s leadership candidate like this.”
Not any more odd, really, than the media going Grade 9 gaga over a third party’s leadership candidate like they are.
Exercise caution when watching Susan Delacourt doing her Tanya Kim impersonation, complete with the Justin Bieber groupie squeaking and squealing, over Justin Trudeau — I find that the room starts to spin, actually, and then everything starts to smell like Teen Spirit…
Let’s not forget the travesties of the Nazi/communist sympathetic Trudeau I and Jean Cretin.
What else can be said?
Thanks, True Northist…you made some great points. At the very least, that clip and Spare Parts McGuinty’s foibles will make great CPC ads….(I call him Spare Parts because years ago a blogger said he looked like he was made of spare parts, hahaha!) and he kinda does !
Simple, separate you little sh*t we’ll vote with you in the next seperation referendum.
Then you can even be “Emperor” of your little French banana republic and we will do our very best to get on without you.
Spare parts. Best laugh all day! I wonder if he highlights the stitches on Halloween night? Ooops, there’s an eye peeking outta my gut!
Holy crap. Did anyone actually see what Trudeau said right before his Alberta comments?
“You say the best way to protect French is to close in on ourselves, build walls, protect ourselves like that. I think the best way to protect French in North America is to expand and conquer Canada. Things are hard in Canada right now because it’s Albertans who are controlling our community and socio-democratic agenda. That doesn’t work.”

Kim Justin-il is dreaming in technicolour. Wilfrid Laurier may have been a good PM, but that was far before my time. Louis St. Laurent often gets good reviews for not having done much that would screw things up. Mulroney and Chretien were decidedly mixed. And Pierre Trudeau did more damage to Canada than anyone in history.
Notice that anything and everything that Stephen Harper has ever said or done is fair game (e.g. the “firewall” letter in 2001), but the leftists would like you to believe that two-year-old comments en francais from Kim Justin-il are somehow off limits.
Quebec has a totalitarian culture. They’ve ditched the authoritarianism of Duplessis and the church (not a bad thing to do, out of context) but replaced it with something just as bad if not worse.
Here’s an example, from Nov. 6 in the NP that will make anyone with a sense of justice sick to his stomach:
http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/11/06/student-leader-loses-court-battle-but-hero-image-remains-unscathed/
From the lionization of the communist gangster wannabe student strikers to the Ethics and Religious Culture propaganda course to the PQ’s complaint about Canada’s foreign policy on Israel to Supreme Court justices from Quebec who almost never vote for freedom whenever there is a clear choice, Quebec seems to be on the wrong side of every issue. The only time they care to stick up for freedom is when their private medical clinics are targeted.
The transfer payments numbers show that Quebec takes a hell of a lot more out of Canada than it provides. And then they have the nerve to think they should be running the country.
If a referendum were held on whether to let the province go, I’ve come around to voting Yes. Maybe that was Kim Justin-il’s father’s plan all along?
The shinny pony need not worry. One day we won’t be here to castigate. The ground work has almost been finished. One day here, gone the next. Unlike Quebec. After two invasions from the East, & one financial rape we have learned a lesson. Never trust Eastern Canada.
Least of all Quebec.
We don’t need you, butyou need us. Simple.
John g… thanks for that quote… If I’m not mistaken Turd 1 said something very similar regarding “conquering Canada”. Turd 2 is just as big a “POS” as Turd 1.
Good news, this story is makeing the rounds on Facebook as we speak….so to speak.
The media reaction to this discovery is odd.
I seem to recall that it was only last week that the part time lawyer/wannabe punk rocker was warning conservatives they should take justin seriously.
So they did.
They did a little digging and found something, justin in his own words. Nobody is making anything up, like say warning voters that justin would have solders in the streets with guns….which by the way actually happened in 1970 when his dad was PM.
So far justin has made contradictory statements when he’s attempted to demonstrate that he’s more than just the son of an ex PM. He says he supports investment in the oil patch, but opposes the oil patch getting its product to market by pipeline is just ones example, now we have an unscripted moment where he reveals and reinforces what conservatives feared.
But lets stick with the substance of this latest blurt.
When we have had PM’s from Quebec, we’ve had
Trudeau-22% interest,13% unemployment, and failure to get Quebec to sign the constitution.
Mulroney-Meech, Charlottetown, and the GST
Chretien-broken promise to kill the GST, and the sponsorship program
Martin- policy on the back of a napkin, and selling the farm to the NDP to hold power.

Don’t forget that Fidel Castro was, and I expect, remains, “Papa Fidel” – his words, not mine. And his idiot Marxist brother Sasha is now part of his leadership campaign. God help us if this a$$hole gets anywhere near a sniff of power. I hope Canadians are smarter than that.
“It’s your Tru-deau colours, shining through…”
Come on folkes. French Canadians have been in control of the Federal civil service for decades. Even though millions are spent trying to teach English speaking workers to speak French it most often does not make a dif. Senior positions are held by Quebecers and they promote Quebecers under them.
There is a reason why the first Ontario riding to elect a Reformer was in Ottawa. It was the Anglo vote from the civil service who were losing their jobs!
That’s GOLD Jerry!!!
Sun News needs to back-up their story with more recent examples of the man-child speaking his mind(?) They must drive the point irrevocably home. There is an effort to claim he has since changed his thinking(?) Time to clearly demonstrate that his comments are not an aberration, but a trend. He has been making statements like this over and over again, right up to the day before the scandal broke.
