It’s evident that Harper will not do anything with the cbc. Mulrooney gave them more trouble back in the 80’s.
The cbc needs to offer it’s services to those who want them – on a subscription basis. If you want a magazine or XM radio, you subscribe. They could also fund raise from their base.

I would suggest that they simply be ignored.

It must be noted that the CBC is just a mediocre player in the national and global media system and their unbridled left wing bias is an impediment to true democracy. I believe the CRTC, with the support of Canadians, can and must enable the CBC to fend for themselves in a free market environment and recommend no further funding by taxpayer money.

I sent in my less than supportive comments much along the same lines as those appearing in this thread.
Within hours I received an email thanking me for my support and suggesting that I should make a donation.
I fired off an angry reply in which I enquired if they had even read my comments, which they obviously had not. The CBC and those that devote their every waking minute attempting to keep the lamprey fed with Canadian tax dollars make me physically sick.

I screwed up and sent my letter to the operator of Romper Room, the site had more going for it than CBC. CBC went to hell just before they cancelled the Friendly Giant because he wasn’t gender neutral, that’s hard when your a giant.

Though one can question the chances of anything productive coming from the Completely Redundant Totally Clueless (crtc)
Their existence is based on the same fairy dust induced pc idea that bureaucrats spending tax dollars on broadcasting is a good use of borrowed money.
Telecom and broadcasting would get by fine without either.
And consumer costs would be lower overall.
What is really infuriating is the extent to which this outfit is full of themselves. Do they not realize that the only thing standing between the CBC and well-deserved oblivion is the apathy of the average Canadian?
Ask any 10 Canadians and I would bet that 9 of them have absolutely no idea that the CBC exists solely due to 1 billion plus taxpayer dollars per annum. Of the same 10 Canadians, in all likelihood none watch the CBC.

The CBC could dry up and blow away, it wouldn’t change my life or that of my family in any way, shape or form and it would cost Canada about $1 Billion less. Good riddance!
I use the NoScript extension for firefox, and when viewing the reimaginecbc.ca/crtc website, it notifies me that that it has blocked scripts from cwa-union.org, which is the site of the Communication Workers of America Union. Very telling.
