…national and local environmental groups are fighting to block or delay many solar plants, wind farms, hydropower and biomass plants and other forms of “clean” energy, along with new transmission lines needed to bring that energy to customers.

The greens won’t be happy until the human species has been returned to a feral state. But then their wont be any greens. We will have eaten them.
One comment to the article sums up the green movement today, “It has been at least 20 years since the environmental movement actually cared about ‘clean’ energy. The green agenda has been, and remains, to stop all progress and development, using whatever straw man argument works at the moment.”
Another comment sums up the greens real agenda, “They hate mankind and we should hate them right back.”
It never ceases to amaze me that those least equiped to live in a post-industrial society demand it the loudest. Oh well, as Gord suggests, I guess they just want to be soylent greens…
There is only a miniscule portion of the world where people can live without technology and large amounts of energy. Canada is uninhabitable during the winter without huge amounts of energy used for heating. While inhabitable in the summer, I was very glad for my air conditioning today when the outside thermometer read 110 F. Much of the southern US is near uninhabitable in the summer without air conditioning which requires large amounts of energy.
The sooner that people realize that watermelons have as their goal the destruction of the human race, the better off we will be. The best way for dealing with this death cult is to drop them off on Ellesmere island with a months worth of food and let them live in harmony with nature as they preach. Should there be any survivors a year later, they might look at technology and human use of energy in a far different fashion.
Just like a broken clock tells the correct time twice daily, in this case the watermelons are correct in that low energy density “sustainable” power projects are ecologic catastrophes. Far better to have a much higher energy density nuclear power plant that uses just a tiny chunk of land to produce more energy than all of the bird blenders installed to date. Similarly, coal fired power plants produce much needed plant fertilizer as well as taking up little room.
The hatred of watermelons for hydroelectric power plants is difficult to understand as not only does damming rivers produce cheap electrical power, but it also serves as a rainfall buffer providing water for irrigation in times of drought. Given a choice between fish and humans, I’ll choose humans every time. I’ve never understood why beaver dams are considered to be “natural” whereas human dams aren’t.
Ultimately it will all boil down to aesthetics.

start taking names of everyone that protests any form of power. When it’s time to implement blackouts because we don’t have enough power for everyone, the names on the list get theirs cut first.
I have to admit I’d enjoy seeing these loons go after mcguinty and his wind turbine plans, at least in the short term just to throw a monkey wrench in these monsters. It would be a temporary alliance at best, kind of like the Hitler/Stalin non-aggression pact.
Wyatt: More like FDR and churchill being polite to stalin…
I once thought that the majority of these types of environmentalists were radicals and misanthropists. I’m not so sure though. They hate the production of power but are also the first to whine and cry during blackouts and when energy prices increase. I now think they are more like air-head cheerleaders and block-head jocks – they think that it’s a game without real-life consequences. Give me a N-I-M-B-Y and B-A-N-A-N-A.
Frozen corpses should be much easier to move, they should set up January collections for green voters, the starvation ought to make them lightweight too…
Excuse my ignorance, but I understand what a N-I-M-B-Y is, but the the heck is a B-A-N-A-N-A?

The wacko world of the environmentalist Communist have a determined objective to define Peak Oil & Peak Energy..
The peak Oil & peak Energy is reached when the distribution systems can’t handle demand…The Communists want to stress ALL systems beyond normal capacity..
NO pipelines = Huge Oil prices increases
No valid Energy Alternatives = Huge Prices increases
Who would have guessed?

Now go in peace and sin no more.
This is about human population control.Economic degradation. Now with their REAL cards on the table. We see it has absolutly nothing to do with the enviroment. Never did really, just a sting. Rather a political agenda of Mankind as the devil. The earth as an angel kill em all.
Another Religion of Peace turned into a death cult
I agree the watermelon agenda is to stop all mining, drilling, transporting, refining and thus use of any fossil fuel. In the short run this will dry up the supply while driving up the cost of carbon fuels that manage to get to market.
After that it will accelerate the rise in the cost of energy, resulting in severe power shortages, greatly reduced national incomes/tax revenues and cripple the ability of governments to deliver any social programs/transfers/jobs whatsoever. The watermelon gravy train will grind to a halt. No more climate change studies, or grants to study the mating habits of butterflies.
Ain’t it ironic!
