  1. Let me understand. It’s Harper’s fault for getting rid of the long-gun registry while still maintaining a registry of legal gun owners. Something like 75 % of guns used in crimes are illegally imported and most of the rest acquired illegally. I guess it’s Harper’s fault that people don’t obey the law.
Don’t blame insanity when stupidity provides a reasonable explanation. Could give crazy people a bad name.

  2. The problem is that she is not alone in her thinking, and they all think they are right. Be afraid.

  3. “I know that living in a small, hot, airless room would motivate me to strike out at people.”
Breathtaking display of personal irresponsibility: “the room made me to hit you; Your Honor, in my defence I can say that I strangled the victim , because there was neither air conditioner nor ventilation in my unit.”

  4. Surely her comment is parody, a parody of the left. It has no function other than as a parody.
Heh, the illogical cause and effect (heat causes violence; registration of a gun nullifies its criminal use) are great examples of the rejection by the left of empirical evidence.
The removal of direct agency (the actual shooters) and the insertion of Higher Authority as Cause (god, allah, Bush, Harper) is also a basic mindset of the left.
Oh, and by the way, the shootings in Toronto weren’t carried out by a ‘long gun’ and registration of a short or long or twiddling gun has no effect whatsoever on either its usage or, the plethora of unregistered weapons.
And heck, if heat affects us, then, surely, the Harper government is equally absolved of causality for weren’t their minds also addled by the heat? Oh, wait, they are the 1% and have air conditioning….

    Lemme add
And it’s Harpers fault, it’s the global warming, it’s the excitement of olympics and whole lot of other things.
The “journalist” would have been forced into it by everyone else.

  6. Guns don’t kill people, lack of A/C kills people.
How can anyone who believes in global warming use up our precious natural resources powering air conditioners.
    Why does she hate Gaea?

  7. Wow! Just wow! Nothing epitomises the Star’s organic echo chamber like that incongruent irrational rant.
I have to wonder if they really don’t care how insane and unintelligible this letter is, or how bad it makes their subscribers look – they just couldn’t resist the urge to boast about how thoroughly their daily sheep dip spew brain washes the legions of neurotic hyper suggestive redundant numbers. It’s a propagandist’s brag. Just about says it all about the intellectual and psychological make-up of Star readers.

  8. “I know that living in a small, hot, airless room would motivate me to strike out at people.”
sounds like a personal experience , I wonder if hers also had padding.

  9. A quick search turned this up.
BARBARA FALBY: Barbara is an Eco Conscientous Objector – who works with ForOurGrandchildren, the Just Earth Coalition; endorses the work Canadian Voice of Women for Peace, the Toronto Environmental Alliance, Greenpece and CELA in their work for CO2 reductions and environmental sustainability. Former President, Anglican Church Women at St. James Cathedral

  10. I have a theory about Ms.Falby. She’s a ‘studies’ major who wrote this letter while downing one to many grande lattes at Starbucks last night. That, combined with suffering from summer-time University Withdrawal Syndrome and too much time on her hands resulted in this unfortunate, paranoid letter. If only there was laws to restrict smartphones from bored and delusional leftists. The world would be a much safer place for all humanity
…or maybe she’s on bath salts.

  11. Litter, letter; in this case, they’re synonyms. Absolutely unbelievable she is out there while being so “out there”.

  12. Wow, talk about a screwed up greenie/leftist! Betting she’s a friend of Barbara Hall and Lizzie May. BTW Lizzie has connections to the Anglican Church as well, was/is studying to become an Anglican Priest/Priestess/whatever……

  13. Former President, Anglican Church Women at St. James Cathedral
Do you mean that the Anglican Church hasn’t alienated it’s complete membership yet? I thought all the Christians had moved on. The Anglican Journal looks a lot more like a communist rag than any celebration of Christ or His followers. But they will marry butt buddies.

I did not know lunacy was contagious.

  16. Using Barbara’s logic, it was the water that made the Toronto youth urinate on the homeless person. Using the political imagination that she claims PHSH lacks, the solution is obvious: register every drink of water.
Try as I might, I just don’t get those who wish to solve perceived injustices in this world by voluntarily surrendering their individual rights to mummy and daddy government agencies, which inevitably are operated by comfort-seeking bureaucrats and led by corrupt sociopaths, all in the name of utopia. Let’s exchange one injustice for another, better injustice. Just don’t get that.

  17. “Previously, gun violence in Canada has been held in check by government programs and regulations.”
    Oh. I see.
And Toronto,Vancouver,Montreal, are home to thousands just like our Barb.

  18. After the first couple of lines, it was all blah blah blah. Been hearing all that since I was 7 years old.
The only thing that is mildly interesting is the evolution of the leftist lexicon. “Pistolization of Canadian society”. Haven’t heard that one before, but I suspect certain media outlets will be a repeating…
My personal hypothesis is that first they come up with the word, and then they form a policy around that word. Could this signal a new effort to outlaw pistols? That you can never fire one unless its done by remote control robot in an underground bunker?
    It’s sarcasm today…

  19. Wow! I’m always reminded of this exchange from the movie “No Country for Old Men” whenever I read bat shi* lunacy coming from the likes of Falby.
Carson Wells:”Do you have any idea how crazy you are?”
    Chigurh: “You mean the nature
    of this conversation?”
Carson Wells: “No,I mean the nature of you.”

  20. Y’know, as I was reading this, I got an immense feeling of well-being, because I realized, if just a smidgen of what Babs wrote was true, then..
    Stephen Harper must be..
the most powerful man in the world!
I mean, if he, all by his lonesome, can simultaneously change the earth’s climate in just six short years, inspire mass murderers from Norway to Colorado, complete the ‘pistolization’ of Canada (anyone know anyone who owns a pistol? I know people who own shotguns and rifles, but no pistols), and, of course, deny air conditioning to the mentally unstable, he must be incredibly powerful, much more so than Bambam, George Soros, or Sean Penn.
Kinda makes you feel warm all over, eh?

  21. Yep, and CO2 is GASSING THE PLANET!
‘Hey, non-existant global warming is all the EVIL PM Stephen Harper’s fault…because anything not left is anathema.
Why? Because I said so, and some idiot dead stream media will republish my incoherent drivel. Hi I’m Barb Falby and I am a moron.
If I don’t shoot anyone in the next 24 hours well I’ll just spontaneously combust right before your very eyes.’
I recommend trauma counselling for anyone who has managed to lay eyes on that travesty to logic and insult to thinking people everywhere.
Yep, Stephen Harper is the cause of mass murders across the globe. The Toronto Star; litter box liner for the clinically insane who suffer from incontinence.
    Cheers

  22. Why hasn’t the malevolent and ruthless Harptler had Barb “disappeared” yet for speaking Truth to Power so courageously?
I’d advise her to arm herself but, well….

  23. Handguns have been tightly controlled in Canada since about 1935.
AGW is probably wrong. If it isn’t, Canada’s contribution is negligible. The author probably uses CO2-emitting transportation.
    Etc.
But when dealing with a barking moonbat, what can be said?

  24. Whenever I read verbal diarrhea such as that written by Ms. Falby, the sarcasm detector in my head experiences a small blip.
The utter irrationality and just plain silliness of what she wrote just had to be tongue-in-cheek.
Right? Please tell me I’m right. If not, then there is someone out there who probably drives a vehicle, uses sharp utensils and, quite possibly, is capable of reproduction. These would not be good things.

  25. My wife has been and RN for many years. After reading the above letter she guessed Ms. Falby must be a teacher based on her seven years as a ER supervisor where she dealt with many teacher’s and their emergency health issues. It would be interesting to know if my wife is correct. David Stern

  26. “Clinically insane?” Nope.
People too often confuse stupidity, arrogance, wrongheadedness, irrationality, lack of ethics, lack of rigour, or just plain evil, with insanity. (I’m not saying *all* of that applies to this case.)
Let’s agree to call things what they are. Calling someone insane because they’re often not rational, or because you disagree with them, is degrading, and can lead to violations of political rights. Believe me, those who want to push their own ideological agendas regardless of ethics will jump on the chance.
    For example:

  27. David Stern – it seems likely. There’s a Barbara Falby who teaches and/or is a librarian at the Vaughan Road Academy in Toronto. How sad that moonbat = probable teacher.

  28. Kevin B.
“I know people who own shotguns and rifles, but no pistols”
I don’t go advertising my ownership of pistols because I don’t want thieves to visit me. If they do visit, they are right there in the gun safe, not hidden among a lifetime of memories (garbage)like I used to do.
Unfortunately the last thing I would do would be to shoot a bad guy with one. The night stalker will have a .303 or 12 gauge hole in him should I believe my life to be at risk.

  29. If people can look at one summer of weather and one dry spell, while ignoring past cold, wet summers, as proof of AGW, then it’s not a great leap of illogic to opine on the pistolization of Canada.
Why isn’t the left arguing, then for more severe plunishment for any and all gun crimes? Because that is not their goal; the socialization of Canada, and keeping their phoney-baloney jobs is.

  30. Yeah well…I have a crushing argument for the Barbara Falby’s when they hold forth…usually with an audience….
    I agree with them…thus….Yeah I live in an old farmhouse in the country….very safe…no need for firearms….I haven’t had an armed home-invasion for….5-6 years now…I’m on a roll…
First off they deny I had a home-invasion…cause in their mind that don’t happen…
Easily proven…a copy of the “Criminal Injuries Compensation Board” ruling preamble….
I’d rather pack heat than that letter…

  31. grandchildren: ” Mom, do we really need to visit grandma and hear those same boring stories of climate change and bad big Harper?!”
mother: ” You have to be respectful to old people”
grandchildren (muttering) : “old people are crazy”
mother (talking to herself): ” Oh well, they are crazy, they think everybody should live in their world”
As typical as the conversation may be, the point is that under the pretence of “for children or grandchildren” politicians and activist hide deep need for a control of other people.
