Flame

I don’t normally do cat blogging, but then, I don’t normally do cat portraits, either.

I’m making an exception tonight. This is for Jay and “Flame”. They’re going through a tough time.

  1. Kate, you really do BEAUTIFUL work!
You know where to focus the detail and where to blur the colours and less significant parts out.
What an intelligent little face Flame has!

  2. That’s wonderful work, Kate.
Is it painted on canvas or board or similar?
And my thoughts for your two friends.

  3. You really do have a vision for animals in your art.
I loved the Dog & soldiers boot. I don’t know where you get the time or energy for so many pursuits.
    Let alone do them justice

  4. cats as art, are in the eye of the beholder, quirky……… yet argumentative.

  5. The painting brings life to the Cat’s expression, and the details and texture is amazing.

  6. Beautiful painting, Kate. I’m sure you captured Flame’s personality, not an easy thing to do.

  7. Oooooh! I’d love a portrait of our Pip, ie the cat on the Blazing Cat Fur header. ๐Ÿ™‚
That photo doesn’t do him justice however. As people have been saying, cats have personalities and no photo has brought his out.

  8. I don’t agree with your politics, but you definitely hold a great talent when it comes to your paintings.

  9. Thanks, Kate. We don’t know yet if Flame will make it; he’s still a very sick kitty. And – his “adopted sister” (sealpoint Siamese named Smokey who we got from the rescue the same day as Flame) “crossed the rainbow bridge”, as our vet puts it, last night from kidney failure. Your thoughts, this post and all the kind comments are greatly appreciated.
I will let you know the news, good or bad. Should know in another 2-3 days.

  10. I’m asking St. Francis’s prayers for Flame.
I’m sorry about Smokey. Our pets break our hearts when they die. I’m glad you’ve got Kate’s beautiful portrait of Flame.

  11. Hope kitty is OK. I know that some will not agree that you can be both an dog and cat guy. Whowever you are – you have no idea.
My best past pet buddies are a cat “Roo” the most awesome and fearless animal you will ever meet = and – Jazz – my beautiful Yorkie who died at age 5 of kidney failure.
I had Roo for 12 years but would not have been satisfied with 20 – and felt cheated badly when Jazz died.
