The Ottawa Press Corps Blow Its Trivial Bubbles…

…within its almost sealed-to-reality bubble. Paul Wells of Maclean’s (love or hate him he does try to commit some serious journalism and do some serious research) takes on his colleagues:

Everything that is wrong with Ottawa, for now at least

Long may they wallow in their Twitterverse.

  1. they play silly “children’s” games and try and pass them off as reporting, that has been obvious for years. With the new technology it just expanded the games. They are mostly lefties, soooooo, being “with it” is tres important to these a$$hats

  2. Wells uses a lot of words to tell us how useless the PPG and journalists are.
He could of just said “we suck”.

  3. Shame it had to be Wells to point this out. He never had a problem when it was *his* ear to the keyhole.
    Pompous Little Man.
    Tweet that.

  4. The Ottawa GTA bubble is staffed with biased has beens, they’ve been sipping their frapocappos for so long they forgot their job was to report the news not construct it or fabricate it. Canada would be well served if they were all shipped to BC for the next twenty years and replaced by young interns who haven’t been wooed by free booze and food.

  5. Rose…..specifically the lower mainland, and Drugcouver in particular.THEN off to N.Korea for some real in-depth studies on how to spew commie agitprop!

  6. The Brits have a good term that they use for the games the journos play in the PPG its called “playing silly buggers”.

  7. Twitter’s role is to expedite the process of media folk making asses of themselves.

  8. I admit, I must have missed the human interest stories on the schools and the dam etc that our troops built or supervised in Afg.
Seems to me the only thing I ever heard was the death count and the pics of hearses driving down the highway of tears.
Does anybody have a link, or even a summary.

  9. Well at any rate one learns that Hy’s is still in business.
I used to love that place, with its deep banquets and defence lobbyists
drifting by murmuring of “missiles”, “shells”, “machine guns” and other good stuff. Stimulating.

  10. I don’t see anything praiseworthy in that Wells’ piece; and it not being about trivial matters isn’t enough for me to give him even nodding recognition of it.

  11. For most of us Ottawa seems almost suffocating, and not particularly Canadian despite all the iconic buildings and institutions. It may have been the extreme heat, but when I visited on a legal matter last July, I just felt like it was a time warp, especially “the Hill” — but you can see how people can lose their sense of being a citizen of a large country there, and take up residence in “this town” as some of the journalists call it. There’s a sense of entitlement that says “we have all this, but we want a bit more please.” Maybe that is Canadian, I wouldn’t know.

  12. They have been reduced to these puerile tattling and rumor games because there is a distinct lack of curiosity and work ethic to produce any real investigative reporting. That and the fact they have badmouthed Harper so badly he rarely tells them anything.
Stick a fork in em – when Duffy left the last real Ottawa pressy vanished.

  13. Nobody Listens about Afghanistan for a simple reason. WE all know its a lost cause. These people cannot behave civilized no matter how many schools we build. They will blow up. No use being nice they hate us kaffurs for not loving their blood god. There ingratitude reeks to Alberta for our dead . We know that the moment we leave, along with the Americans it will revert to tyranny with bloodshed immediately. With Women becoming slaves. Anyone with a stick of sense knows this no matter what BS comes out of the PMS office.

  14. ” Nobody Listens about Afghanistan for a simple reason. … Revnant Dream …”
Correct Revnant Dream , but recall who got Canada into the Afghanistan mess … CHRETIEN !!!! who thought he was being so smart avoiding Iraq.
The US was/is hooked on the notion of Nation Building like MacArthur in Japan , and the Marshall Plan in Germany after WW2. Those countries were civilized nations.
The problem is the US and Canada tagging along , are trying to apply Nation Building to totally uncivilized places where radical Islam rules the day.
