Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
I am hoping that the more Albertans see of Premier Mom, the less they like her. We badly need a change of government in this Province.
Danielle Smith’s policies most closely mirrors Ron Paul’s, hence her popularity.
Small government or nuthin’.
An excellent way of starting the campaign. If Redford is feeling the heat, she’ll appear desperate, making more unforced errors.
Danielle is a smart Sarah Palin.
Go Wild Rose
Here’s hoping it’s definitely something.
I think that the $1000/month do-nothing committee pay was the last straw. It’s a small enough number that people can relate to it, unlike the usual millions and billions that governments spend.
I really, really, REALLY like the idea of a Trillium Party here in Ontario.
The Sun uses those IVR polls which arent too reliable, but its a close fight. The poll in the Herald is probably the accurate one (although there’s not a ton of difference). Redford is by far the most popular leader, so this is likely pushback about the committee pay issue. Will be very interesting to see where this goes. There can be no doubt that just like last election, the WRP has an opportunity here, but this time they have the leader, team and resources to actually do something with the opportunity. Look for the polls to swing the other way for a week or two and then the real fight will be on for the last two weeks.
Premier Mom an always get a job with the Federal Dips – same ideals, same nanny state crap
Soon the Rat Queen will be no more.
I attended their presentation on land rights and power lines last night. The pcs are screwed in the country. Wa hooo.
http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/03/28/danielle-smith-wildrose-alliance/
This article looks at Smith’s main challenger in her own race, PC John Barlow. Look carefully at Mr Barlow’s picture. He may be a decent sort, but his resemblance in this photograph to Stephen Lewis is chilling.
Looks like one of those Prairie Grass Fires may sweep the Province. Happens every 30-40 years. “If You Haven’t Suffered Enough, It Is Your God Given Right To Suffer Some More”…
Any party, after an unbroken 41 years in power will be corrupt and incapable from imagining that what’s in the best interest of their party must therefore be in the best interest of all.
And A. Redtory is a statist of the worst sort, she will never understand why we don’t just do as she tells us…
I hope it is so, but polls are terribly unreliable. I am afraid of the “better the devil you know” attitude of many. The big problem with the current devil is she is an acolyte of Joe Clark
Let this be a lesson to any politician that decides to run under the conservative banner. If your policies and actions aren’t actually in line with conservative thinking, you will not maintain the support of conservative voters. Unlike Liberal and NDP voters, we expect our politicians to do what they say, and punish them when they don’t.
It’s still early in the campaign and numbers are pretty fluid in the early days as we’ve seen federally. This sure gives me hope for the BC Conservatives though. There is still time for us to lock out the orange dipper tsunami of doom.
I have been contributing to Wild Rose for 5 years from BC. The Campbell coalition in BC was usurped by the lying Libs some time ago. Wild Rose retains much of the original Reform princiapls which the BC Libs flirted with and the federal CPC are casting away.
When politicans do not have to operate to a balanced budget you have given them a blank cheque. That corrupts the politicans and also the citizens they represent. We actually have people in power who make the argument that government spending cannot be stopped as it would cause a economic downturn. When debt servicing climbs over 30% of the budget watch them squeal.
The PC candidate in my area (Sherwood Park) is our ex mayor. I think she alienated a lot of people here. Not voting for her is the icing on the cake.
The biggest problem with a Wildrose win is a bunch of inexperienced MLAs showing up for work. It’ll take a couple of years to weed out any problems. Still better than a bunch of entrenched professional parasites.
Watch the news tomorrow to see if the CPC is no longer Reform.
As for Alberta…after the first televised debate the election results will be sealed.
I predict a Wildrose win.
I’m sure somebody mentioned this, but my dad and brother attended a Trout Unlimited dinner in Calgary, where for some reason Redford was the special guest speaker. Needless to say, she was booed harder than the Maple Leafs after being eliminated from the playoffs last night! On top of that, some guys started mixing it up with her, chirping her from their tables. Instead of ignoring them, Mom stopped and started bickering herself! An absolute gem of an evening.
I really, really, REALLY like the idea of a Trillium Party here in Ontario.

Aye. It’s a coming. 😉
AB Liberals will likely take a well-earned drubbing in this election – Listening to Sherman this AM and his voice is more strident than ever while advocating higher taxes for successful Albertans. I’m tired of parasitic opportunists seeking to exploit our wealth after all the heavy lifting has been done.
RED(ford) is dangerous. She has a real sense that she knows better than you how to run your life.
The biggest problem with a Wildrose win is a bunch of inexperienced MLAs showing up for work.

Any government is run by the bureaucrats who will in fact be the same people showing up to work the same jobs the day after the election.
If the Alberta Progressive government didn’t have any problems, though they’ve been 40 years on the job, they wouldn’t be looking at defeat.
A Wildrose win means a changes in policy direction, public confidence, and government attitude toward Albertans but the core bureaucracy will keep on ticking.
When Peter Louheed’s PCs took government in 1971 the province didn’t collapse because of their inexperience and it won’t collapse when the reins are taken by Wildrose.
To Quote Coach. “The biggest problem with a Wildrose win is a bunch of inexperienced MLAs showing up for work. It’ll take a couple of years to weed out any problems. Still better than a bunch of entrenched professional parasites.” Much rather have rookies making honest mistakes. Than full blown home invasions by known thieves and crooks with experience. “If You Have Not Suffered Enough It Is Your God Given Right To Suffer Some More”.
I came of age in 1971 and the Conservatives, under Peter Lougheed formed the government…with my help. The only time I did not vote PC was in the 2008 provincial election. Why you ask? Because I was working in Inuvik, on election day, due to my work in Alberta having vanished on account of…THE ROYALTY REVIEW. Thus ended a long affiliation with the Alberta PCs. WILDROSE ALL THE WAY!
“And A. Redtory is a statist of the worst sort, she will never understand why we don’t just do as she tells us…”
Mommy Dearest.
I just wonder what is the name of wild flower in Manitoba?
Per Grandad @ 11:58 AM – I’m a baby boomer too. Voted PC in 1971 because it the first election I could vote. Picked Peter Lougheed because he was NOT the status quo (plus he was cute). Beware the boomers when they get the bit between their teeth!
“The biggest problem with a Wildrose win is a bunch of inexperienced MLAs showing up for work.”

I’ve always marveled at the fact that people think politicians know what they are doing outside of their professional political rhetoric.
One year they are the “Health Minister” the next the “Environment Minister, the next the “Minister of Justice” and so on………
It’s great we finally have a PM who actually has a proper economist background, but it is a rarity for most of the senior government positions thrown around to the rest of the dogs like a bone. That is why the old adage “The Government can’t run anything efficiently” is truth.
New blood with honest youthful expectations is a good thing every so often. They don’t know any less about their position than the old timers, except how to professionally bury the problems in BS.
“Any government is run by the bureaucrats who will in fact be the same people showing up to work the same jobs the day after the election.”
Exactly,OZ. I think the government could be put in a collective coma and the Country/Province would run fairly well by the bureaucrats.
Most politicians seem to have developed a very good sales pitch, and while a few have some real world experience, most are just salesmen.
Oz et al- Maybe I used the wrong adjective. What I should have said is new MLAs who haven’t been “vetted”. Manning had a few MPs who self-destructed well before their first term ended. A couple of them had some very serious skeletons in their closets. That doesn’t mean I don’t support a Wildrose sweep, just making a comment on some potential bumps in the road.
I see the PC’s have plastered lawn signs on all the busy roads in my neck of the woods. Haven’t spotted a single WRA one yet. Odd though. Nobody at work has a lawn sign, but they all intend to vote WRA.
Alison is running strongest in Edmonton. That’s a shocker !!!
coach, it seems everyone here believes that their vote is for Smith, it isn’t, it is for your MLA, she is the leader. Thanks to Ed we now get 4 weeks of the biggest estrogen fueled catfight Alberta will ever see.
Gotta love Alberta. It restores my faith in humanity. Can you send us some of your 2nd-tier Wild Rose candidates here in Ontario? Your cast-offs have to be better than our PC’s.
wallyj -> I think you meant to say: “Redmonton” didn’t you?
it seems everyone here believes that their vote is for Smith, it isn’t, it is for your MLA, she is the leader.
~bartinsky
This is true.
It should be noted, however, that although Ed Stelmach became the leader of the entirely same group of MLAs that Ralph Klein was the leader of, Stelmach took the government in a radical new direction by unilaterally scrapping the royalty regime, undermining confidence in investment and setting a new tone in government(even to the point of tinkering with changing Alberta vehicle licence plates and forcing Albertans to pay for annual registration renewal) that was a harbinger to the interferring Nanny State that Alsion Redford has been promoting since she became leader of largely the same group of MLAs.
The unofficial conservative motto is “If it Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It”, and it’s obvious that the Redford Progressives are about change for the sake of change when they aren’t changing things in the direction of burgeoning Statism and social engineering.
I’ve often thought of Alberta as “Texas North” and Redford wants to change it to “Little California on the Prairie”.
RL, I’m sure you meant to compliment Danielle with your trashing of Palin.
When you suggest Palin is “the stoopid”, are you referring to the fact that as Governor of Alaska she took on the CBC (Corrupt Bastards Club) and put politicians from both parties in jail, or the fact that she got the long languishing TransCanada pipeline deal signed, or that she took on Exxon Mobil and forced them to open up their leases? All of that in just a couple of years.
Or are you admitting you get your misinformation from the progressive enemedia?
I just wonder what is the name of wild flower in Manitoba?
Posted by: xiat at March 28, 2012 12:18 PM
My recollection is that it is the Prairie Crocus; a nice little flower that sometimes blooms right through the March snow. Unfortunately, the name was sullied a bit by a certain labour sponsored investment fund supported by the Manitoba gubmint.
Everyone in Alberta who doesn’t like their new high cost electric bills, or the theft of property rights by the Progressives should watch these video’s and forward the link to all your Alberta contacts. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD2D7C9639BB2AE65&feature=view_all
To those reading this who live in Alberta and who think wildrose is THE option for conservatives, here is what you need to do:
Donate funds to the wildrose. As much as you can. There is no better time than right now.
“A bunch of rookies showing up for work.”
At least the rookies are smart enough to know sucking carbon out of the air is stupid. But your probably right we should just give and let our experienced elders tell us what to do. Not
Coach, yes there will be bumps in the road. I will take enthusiastic amateurs truly dedicated to the public service of their constituents any day over entrenched privilege.
On another topic, the poll results are interesting. They would appear to give the lie to claims in an earlier thread that Wild Rose isn’t competitive in Edmonton. They certainly appear to be in a comfortable lead everywhere else.
DANGER, WILL ROBINSON! DANGER!
As the PCs get desperate, the next week or so is when the attack ads will come out with a vengeance.
markon@ 1:34…you nailed it re Palin. So many people have believed as gospel the tainted narrative fed to the masses by the biased media.
She’s not the Tina Fey version, people. (another celebrity I am boycotting)
or they say, I like Sarah Palin, BUT. Gimme a break. I’m not ashamed to say I admire her greatly. But I am getting damn tired of constantly defending her, even to self-described “conservatives”. Yeah right.
And as for Danielle Smith. Do a good job as Premier, and your next stop could be Prime Minister. Oh yeah.
Poll at the Calgary Sun about upcoming Alberta election.
Just got done a FaceBook search on Reford and Smith
Smith’s profile is personally revealing, while Redford’s only touts her “professional” achievements.
Per Oz’s previous comment, people are inherently resistant to change – Redford’s maniacal desire to transform Alberta in her own image may well prove to be her undoing. I’d suggest she cancel her subscription to “Alberta Views”, which IMHO is the most obnoxious magazine ever published in Alberta.
As an aside we should demand all aspiring politicians to openly reveal their Myers-Briggs personalty test scores – Refusal should be tantamount to non-compliance of a request for a breathalyzer test.
I think Sarah palin is incredibly smart and patriotic,as well as very diplomatic, and charismatic, she is by no means stupid, and no she is not perfect either but she loves her country and is fighting to return it back to greatness why do people hate her so much. She has a big heart and loves her family ,she is loyal to her husband. What’s the big deal about Sarah palin.
Danielle smith is a feminist and an abortionist ,libertarian ,she is also a fiscal conservative ,and on some things she is a social conservative I don’t particularly like her politics but she is smart, well spoken ,and also loves her province and country .. I will vote for my mls rob Anderson he is a good guy and danielle may not be perfect but she is sure the heck of a lot better than the current radical man hating feminist lawyer who served on the u.n. human rights councell what a piece of human garbage.
Danielle smith is Alberta’s Sarah palin and thank god for that thank the lord we have that choice .lol.
