On March 16th, President Obama signed a new Executive Order which expands upon a prior order issued in 1950 for Disaster Preparedness, and gives the office of the President complete control over all the resources in the United States in times of war or emergency.
The National Defense Resources Preparedness order gives the Executive Branch the power to control and allocate energy, production, transportation, food, and even water resources by decree under the auspices of national defense and national security. The order is not limited to wartime implementation, as one of the order’s functions includes the command and control of resources in peacetime determinations.

    There is the small point that the present US government entirely lacks the intelligence to make anything other than a monumental mess with this order.
    Sensible people are leery of assuming powers greater than they can wield.

  8. Seeing this, I must concur with various others who have said there will be no elections in the USA come this November. Obama will “create” a reason for using his expanded powers.
    A man like Obama, given his pedigree and associations, WILL NOT give up the most powerful seat in the world by a simple election. That would be entirely unexpected and contrary to his desire to “fundamentally transform” America. A first step to this fundamental transformation is to do away with elections.

    John Lewis is right when he says “Brick by brick the police state is constructed”.

  25. yes this could be about controling resources, it could also be about punishing those who vote against the regime. But largely, I think, it all about controling or shutting down the internet at the pleasure of the regime.
    Many of you, I’m sure, have steady, reliable internet service, but being a rural person I know what it’s like to have a tower “go down” and be without internet for a day, and if it happens late on a Friday, spend the whole weekend, without service. Your left with TV and radio to source your news and thats really when you realize just how biased the reporting is.
    They already have your kids at school to “educate” for the whole day, now they just have to find away to stop the parents from finding news other than GOVERNMENT SANCTIONED news sites.
    The major “networks” are full out lieing now on a regular basis, and Canadian radio and TV simply just copy the U.S. MSM.
    Liberals don’t need the internet to communicate their message as they already control the media, it’s conservatives that source most of their news because we are determed to hear all the facts on the stories that are UNDER REPORTED and learn about the stories that ARE NEVER REPORTED, BY THE MSM.

    In other news, the city of London Ontario had a major riot and fire last night. People who have not been to London Ontario should know that its a small little place with no real “bad neighborhood”, except apparently for Fanshaw College and its dorms.
    Actual problem here seems to be police who are afraid to do their jobs. Or possibly have been told not to. Kinda like Caledonia and G-20? We shall see.

He only believes in Obama. But here’s the thing: people like Obama can get into power only because of the decline of the American soul into hedonism.   44. Actually this compliments the FEMA executive orders Bush signed. A “disaster” in the US which will kick in these vast unilateral powers and suspend the constitution and congress could be as petty as a bad storm – remember the martial law is only lifted when in the opinion of the POTUS things are OK – there is no limit to how long the suspension of the constitution will last.
    This was clearly spelled out on the Bush FEMA legislating and complimentary executive orders – but you were branded a tinfoil hatter if you said anything = pfft so Obama is different than Bush? Not really.
