  1. Megan as Atlantic Monthly’s Senior Editor and writing about business and economics with this paragraph from the article has not yet caught on to the fact that AGW is a fraud.
“Some of the climate bloggers are praising Gleick for coming forward, and complaining that this is distracting from the real story. And I agree that it’s a pity that this is distracting from the important question about how fast the climate is warming, and what we should do about it.”
Megan also writes an interesting detail, “Peter Gleick, head of the Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment, and Security in Oakland, California and apparently until very recently, the chair of the American Geophysical Union’s Task Force on Scientific Ethics.”
It turns out that maybe he is not so ethical after all.

  2. We surely need to get back to weather analysis we can trust.
Reading goat entrails was good enough for ten thousand years.
    Why abandon this proven technology?

  3. // the Peter Gleick controversy //
    Heh.
Keep your eye on the ball
[…] Content is king. Set aside the strategy document. Heartland has now had plenty of time to review and deny the accuracy of the other documents and it hasn’t. The docs seem generally supportive of John Mashey’s analysis of public records. The outrage you’re hearing from the denialists are attempts to distract people from the content when the content is bad.
Time to send the IRS and state attorney generals after these fake charities.
I agree though. It is http://wottsupwiththat.com/ “> hilarious.

“Pollution goes against God’s will, say church leaders in Ash Wednesday message
Leaders of churches in Britain including the Archbishop of Canterbury and the head of Scotland’s Roman Catholics have made a Lenten call for repentance and a “change of direction” to combat the dangers of climate change.’

  5. Not really a surprise. The warmies have been troubled in recent years by two huge and damning releases of private emails showing their best and brightest don’t believe their own pseudo-science. Not to mention their assorted jiggery-pokery in assorted slander campaigns, intimidating publishers and editors, recruiting media whores, etc.
So the warmies needed a release of their own about the sceptics. Naturally of course, since their science is faked so too were their fabricated documents. Why would they change what has been up to now a successful modus operandi?

  6. -His effort will focus on providing curriculum that shows that the topic of climate change is controversial and uncertain–two key points that are effective at dissuading teachers from teaching science.
    ~fake Heartland document
Typical Leftist projection which glaringly exposes the falseness of the “document”.
Here is real science, The temperature determines the CO2 levels, not the other way around.
The Warmmunists have purposely, purposely, reversed the know cause and effect sequence to push a lie.

  7. If you create or modify an electronic doc (say, in word) and print it, it gets a micro-printed code identifying the printer. Not good. Well known, too.
If you then scan the printed doc to PDF, no printer id. Better, from a faker’s POV.

  8. I caught this gem of a reader’s post from the warming cult blog desmogblog regarding the scandal.

    Considerata writes:
“I think there is no idealism in Heartland at all. Just a desire to make a buck and watch the world burn. The epitome of the very worst side of human nature.”
What a bunch of stinkers, eh?
This is the infantile insanity that permeates the mindset of these servile drones. Make me want to cry.

  9. The only “damning” document is such a risibly absurd fake I’d simply file it with “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” and be done with it.

  10. “Dr. Linda Gundersen the Chair of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Task Force on Scientific Integrity”
Task Force unnecessary; work complete. Scientific Integrity is extinct
Mann, Jones, and now Gleick are all on the dark side…

Hey hey hey, I am reading the Protocols this winter don’t ruin it for me, Good Lord, next you will be trying to tell me it was written by the Socialist Democrat Nazi’s in order to put the Jews in a bad light.

  12. Global warming has by its own hand shown itself to be a group of Charlatans rooting around for grant cash , while pushing socialism. A created quagmire of lies wrapped in a pseudo-science box to gladden tax loving politicians looking for any reason to abuse the public. While using this con for personnel gain. While the climate crooks with their gad fly politicos, cover their lying butts. Thing is they have been caught to many times , but still the liars pretend noting is wrong.
Some people have made billions on this scam that even Communist China can see through.

  13. Ratt @ 3:38:
Sorry to disappoint you Ratt, “The Protocols” were courtesy of the Czarist Cheka, if I’m not mistaken.

  14. DrD, partially correct. It was the Czarist Okhrana secret police and this was part of the police department that dealt with terrorism and left-wing revolutionary activity.
Yes, the Okhrana did fabricate the Protocols of the Elders of Zion under the direction of Matvei Golovinski.

  15. The Cheka was created by Lenin and many of the first lower tier gumshoes were former Okhrana agents. The managerial staff was composed of Bolsheviks and members of the Left Socialist Revolutionary Party until Fanny Kaplan, a Social Revolutionary, tried to assassinate Lenin. The Left SRs were then purged.

  16. Here in southern Alberta it is known as” Dar Heatherington Syndrome”. It is the art of telling a lie, and when the sniffing starts, you tell another lie, then more sniffing and think quick shazam! another lie. Didn’t work well for old Dar, so she obviously sold the fine art to these globull warming losers. They think that the average, decent HONEST people are as stupid as they are, not so fast there fraudsters and snake oil conni-sueyers Gore Suzuki and Gleik.

  17. Thanks Ken. It’s sometimes hard to keep straight the various iterations of the Russian/Soviet/Russian secret police and military int/counter int services. They blur after a while. I expect they began to blur for the poor people under their boot heel as well.

“Scientist who lied to obtain Heartland documents faces fight to save job”
“Pacific Institute ‘deeply concerned’ about Gleick’s deception to obtain confidential documents from rightwing thinktank”
“The career and reputation of the scientist behind the Heartland Institute exposé was in jeopardy on Wednesday night, after his employers said they were reviewing his use of deception to obtain confidential documents.
The review, by the board of directors of the Pacific Institute, was the most serious potential repercussion to date of the admission by Peter Gleick that he had lied to obtain fundraising documents and a donor list from Heartland, the rightwing thinktank devoted to discrediting climate change.
A statement on the website of the Pacific Institute, which Gleick founded and now heads, said the board was “deeply concerned” about the ruse carried out against Heartland.”
“The statement from the Pacific Institute comes just 24 hours after the board reaffirmed its support for Gleick. “Dr Gleick has been and continues to be an integral part of our team,” the earlier statement said.
But since then a number of its funders have expressed displeasure at Gleick’s deception, the Guardian has learned.”

“Congress Asked to Hold Oversight Hearings to Review Possibly Politicized EPA Grants
Oversight Hearing Should Review Objectivity of Grant Recipients, Goals and Appropriate Funding Level
Oversight Hearing Should Review Objectivity of Grant Recipients, Goals and Appropriate Funding Level”
“Washington, D.C. – The National Center for Public Policy Research is today calling on Congress to hold a series of oversight hearings over possibly-politicized grants made by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The National Center’s general counsel, Justin Danhof, has also filed a Freedom of Information Act request seeking additional details about several of those grants totaling nearly a half million dollars, made to the Pacific Institute in California.
The president of the Pacific Institute, Peter Gleick, has this week confessed to misappropriating the identity of another individual in order to obtain confidential documents from a rival think-tank, one that has reached different conclusions than has the Pacific Institute on the causes and significance of global warming.
Gleick said in a statement that he did so because of “frustration” over differences between persons and institutions within the global warming debate.
“The Pacific Institute receives federal grants related to science research while participating ardently in public advocacy on science-related issues,” said Amy Ridenour, chairman of the National Center for Public Policy Research. “While it is possible to be objective during research while simultaneously conducting public advocacy, it is difficult. It most likely is especially difficult when a research institute’s CEO is so overcome with the passion of his convictions that he cannot restrain himself emotionally while in pursuit of his advocacy goals.””

“Scientist who lied to obtain Heartland documents faces fight to save job”
Better question: is he able to effectively work while locked up in a jail cell? They could call it a “home” office.
