The Sound Of Settled Science

Germany has now plunged into raucous discord on the heated topic of climate change.

One of the fathers of Germany’s modern green movement, Professor Dr. Fritz Vahrenholt, a social democrat and green activist, decided to author a climate science skeptical book together with geologist/paleontologist Dr. Sebastian Lüning. Vahrenholt’s skepticism started when he was asked to review an IPCC report on renewable energy. He found hundreds of errors. When he pointed them out, IPCC officials simply brushed them aside. Stunned, he asked himself, “Is this the way they approached the climate assessment reports?”
Vahrenholt decided to do some digging. His colleague Dr. Lüning also gave him a copy of Andrew Montford’s The Hockey Stick Illusion. He was horrified by the sloppiness and deception he found. Well-connected to Hoffmann & Campe, he and Lüning decided to write the book. Die kalte Sonne cites 800 sources and has over 80 charts and figures.

  2. The Great Scam, the Greenie Fund Raising Ponzi Scheme, the Glorious Academia Fame & Gravy Train ride are coming to an end.
    Slowly unraveling.
The question is what is the next Great Eco Fraud & Fear Campaign they will dream up to keep their religion going, their crusade alive?

  3. “Whether they are promoting the idea that Barack Obama was not born in the US, that man-made climate change is an eco-fascist-communist-anarchist conspiracy, or that the deficit results from the greed of the poor, they now appeal to the basest, stupidest impulses, and find that it does them no harm in the polls.”
Well show us a real not forged birth certificate…for starters….
There is no empirical evidence for man-made climate change but much empirical evidence of a “eco-fascist-communist-anarchist conspiracy”
The deficit does result from the greed of the poor, because the DEMONcRATS appeal to the basest, stupidest impulses, and find that it does them no harm in the polls.
Monbiot has his compass totally squewed…..read him in reverse.

And then there are the “useful idiots”…….

  5. So let me see. Fruit fly and Ally Goaring lied and made 100’s of millions in the process. Are they stupid or we stupid? They were able to take this lie and make all that money by adding to it. It’s time we had some leaders in this country to stand up to these thieves. Have we anyone with the b@lls to stand up for the people in this country or are they all like Mcsqinty and the Wall and just sell out.Wall is making it hard to vote for him next time.

  6. Re: Barack Obama
I’m pretty sure the various security bodies within the USA have verified his Birth Certificate to be authentic.
    Re: eco-fascist-communist-anarchist conspiracy
I don’t think it started out as a conspiracy, merely a theory supported by a few do-gooders and tree-huggers. But then the politicians on the left made the CO2 connection between the theory and the byproduct of fossil fuels and realized how much money could potentially be involved.
Re: deficit results from greed of poor
No, the deficit results from spineless politicians refusing to take ownership of a problem on thier watch for fear of losing their job, and selfish politicians exploiting the poor in order to get re-elected. The left has created a support system that is more effective at keeping poor people dependent on their services than actually helping them get out of their “poor” status. “Give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach him to fish…” Which one of these has the left chosen as a solution? And what about those that are in danger of falling into the “poor” status? No help whatsoever, you don’t get any help until you hit the bottom. Give up all your posessions, your house, and whatever income you currently have, and then they’ll help.

  8. The green monster may be wounded but is still far from dead, as McGuinty continues to prove. Don’t see a lot of effort in backing off on the carbon tax in BC either. The scam must be continued or some politicians would have to admit they were wrong. Such a rarity comes once in a lifetime, as does the chance to tax billions on nothing at all.

  9. This is very depressing. Bureaucrats LOVE to replicate failure, nothing grows a bureaucracy faster than failure. I expect the German problems to be implemented here post haste, with the attendant growth in government.

  10. I think any objective scientist or journalist who have “done some digging” arounf the IPCC and their reports has founf not only errors but the kind of fraud consistent with the reptilian class of internationalists who run it.
The agenda is in the opn. I sit in awe wondering why these criminalbastards aren’t indicted for their crimes.

  11. It’s not the IPCC that’s at fault. It’s our political leaders that have taken the great lie and learned that they can steal money from the tax payers. IPCC made up this lie and found that they could make lots of money by pushing this on the leaders of all countries and they stole billions. Thank God Harper told them to shove koyota up their a@@. He is the only one to stand up to these thieves. Wall is selling out in Sask. He thinks we are to stupid to care. Hey Brad we are not that dumb. Grow some balls and stop throwing away money that is not yours on this shit.

  12. Doesn’t take a Sheldon Cooper to drive through southern Alberta, hold up our power bills and make the same connection. We had better wake up quickly here, if we do we could attract the best and most progressive businesses from around the world, people fleeing from leftie glow ball warming SCAMMING stupidity, if we don’t and continue bringing in regulations to regulate the laws the inspectors inspection services oversee, well need I go on. Great article, as Neil Sedaka said in his song about liberals Waking Up is Hard to Do.

  13. useful data at the AESO power production site:
    http://ets.aeso.ca/
Left column menu .. click in “Current” then “Select report” … Select “Current supply and demand” from the drop-down menu and then “ok”
The most recent electricity prodn report is shown..it updates every one or two minutes.
Wind seldom contributes more than 10% of design capacity. Burning waste biomass at pulp mills and sawmills is nearly 24/7, and almost always contributes more than wind.

  14. Anthony Watt quite rightly says that this one is going to be a top post for some time. Germany has already been the star poster child for renewables for about two decades. And it’s so large that its electrical supply and grid failures are now becoming huge and obvious.
This is going to be very ugly and noisy. Nowhere in the western world are the green slime as thoroughly entrenched in government as they are in Germany. The Greens even own Germany’s nuclear regulatory agency, which explains all you need to know about the post-Fukushima shutdowns.
And it’s happening because even mighty Germany’s industrial economy doesn’t have bottomless pockets for renewable scams. When the Commnunists collapsed in the former USSR, our local Marxists had nothing to idolized except Albania’s Enver Hoxha. Similarly, if the Greens lose the soft energy path battle in Germany, they’ll have almost nowhere left to trumpet as a beacon of light and hope…except McGuinty’s Queen’s Park.

  15. Just the latest in a series of eco fads, each one hyped as more destructive towards future generations than the last, all of them dependent on short series of data extrapolated into the future. Mark Twain had the right answer for that in chapter 17 of Life on the Mississippi, http://www.gutenberg.org/files/245/245-h/p4.htm#c17
Eugenics, DDT, Population Bombs, Acid Rain, Ozone depletion, Global Warming. Just the big ones, the little margin issues speak for themselves in every case.
Sustainability is the next one, and we are still wasting money and lives trying to get past the horror stories that lead to DDT being banned, 1.2 million a year still pay the price for that
And don’t get me started on the sad tale of Eugenics belief, it’s toll worldwide is beyond counting and did not end here in Canada until the repeal of legislation in Alberta in 1972 and in British Columbia in 1973.

  16. It surprises me how many are now having an Eureka moment, when people for bitterly literally years, have known this was a scam. At one point it seemed we where alone.

  17. Revnant, long recessions do that. When money’s tight, the fantasies get blown away. And in hard times the green slime are done, and they know it.
That’s why their enablers in the media are so delighted with signs of US economic recovery with the job growth in the last quarter in 2011. It’s the only hope they have of getting back the attention of the voter.
What’s not mentioned in all this is that the current pace of US job growth will take them about 15 years to get back to 2007. This Eureka moment was inevitable, Revnant. The music stopped when the money ran out.

  18. Germany has already been the star poster child for renewables for about two decades. And it’s so large that its electrical supply and grid failures are now becoming huge and obvious. cgh
And the cost of electric power has gone through the roof in Germany, causing cost problems for their industry, which must export into countries that did not drink the climate Kool-Aid.

  20. No kidding, Small C. Here’s a chap who got hammered for a 25% increase for gas and electricity. He’s paying nearly 600 Euros a month for a 53 sq/m flat.

To be fair, Germany has been stuck on this renewable fantasy before the climate hysteria hit the bigtime in the late 1990s. Germany’s first FIT subsidy hit the streets in 1992, I think. Initially it was a way to keep some employment at the abandoned former East German shipyards.
But you’re right. With a succession of Red-Green governments and Kyoto, it really got rolling. Now, quite rightly, the voters are going to suffer for their ruinously bad choices.

  21. And the delightful irony is, they are just realizing the error of their ways as the coldest winter in a generation sets in. Bwa-ha-ha.
