“I would rather see Israel, a living Israel condemned, than a dying Israel receive the sympathy and condolences of the international community.”
Ron Paul was in Congress when Israel bombed Iraq’s Osirak nuclear plant in 1981 and — unlike the United Nations and the Reagan administration — defended its right to do so. He votes against support for Israel due to his opposition to foreign aid by the US in general. I think the UK, France, and Germany should spend billions defending Israel, and invade Iran of they have to; if they don’t, UK-France-Germany should be accused of antisemitism and high treason. Portugal-Italy-Greece-Spain should also give billions to Israel and fire all their government employees in order to balance their budgets. Now.
Hopefully Israel gets the timing right.
When you get a totalitarian state that seeks “chaos and blood running in the streets to pave the way for the return of the Hidden Imam” and they want nukes. The entire middle east is terrified of Iran, and with good reason. The slaughter of Syrians by the Iranian proxy is just the start.
There is no question that the same mentality that was graphically shown in the movie 300, is alive and well in Iran.
well said.
the US is weakened, and soon to be replaced as a super power.
Remember Rome couldn’t pay her soldiers before the fall.
“However, Diocletian faced more than just administrative problems. More and more military defences had to be built across the whole empire. This cost money that Rome did not have. To pay for these, taxes were increased and extra coins were minted. This lead to inflation causing prices to rise. Therefore, the people of Rome were less than favourable towards those who led them.”
Sounds familiar eh.
When I hear politicians speaking the plain and simple truth, as I often hear from the Israelis and more recently from our Conservative government, it gives me a bit of hope.
I wonder how many Bunker busters in succession it would take to destroy those underground enrichment facilities?
It’s a race! Will a Greek default trigger CDS default actions and melt down the global financial system, or will this drama take second stage to a shock and awe display in Iran? Securing a timely supply of beer and popcorn is recommended.
The world is sitting back waiting for Israel to do their dirty work then they’ll condemn them instead of thanking them for saving the world from a real disaster. The regime of madmen in Iran cannot be dealt with through diplomacy,to trust them would be insane.
I head someone say that if Israel takes out Iran’s nukes the whole world will comdemn them on one hand, and breath of sigh of relief on the other.
I guess that’s true enough. May God bless and protect Israel.

That’s satire I hope.
So go nuke them already, Israel is a big country with a huge military, they don’t need us or the US to help out.
Our job is to ban Islam in our countries, and curtail immigration from the crap-holes from which they spawn.
Isn’t that what Islam wants, for the west to stay out of their affairs? We should oblige and let Israel deal with them in their own way. Everyone’s happy at the end of the day.

“I wonder how many Bunker busters in succession it would take to destroy those underground enrichment facilities?”
I suspect maybe 1.
1) It is assumed that these facilities are several hundred feet under rock.
2) The needed volume in the created caverns not only makes them a massive project but also compromises their resistant to earthquakes as well as overhead attack.
Cheyenne Mountain they ain’t, the cost just to construct the alleged bunkers probably exceeds
the cost of the Iranian Manhatten Project.
I suspect these alleged underground facilities are neither deep, extensive nor even utilized for the purposes alleged….IOW are probably decoys….
At any event the Iranian leadership is the obvious target…..remove the head and the body dies…..
Bomb bomb bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran!
Boooooooomb Iraaaaan, taAKE a staaaaaand.
It’s got a good beat and you can dance to it.
sasquatch >
“I suspect maybe 1.”
I’d say 2.
One to take out the factory, and one to take out their government. The rest all implodes on its own thereafter, with no rebuilding to worry about.
sasquatch >
Opps, missed your last line, you said what I just did already.

Khamenei: Zionist regime is a cancer
Tehran’s supreme leader promises Iranian people the world will soon be rid of ‘cancerous Zionist regime’; says Iran will help anyone fighting Israel
“The Zionist regime is a cancerous tumor and it will be removed,” Teheran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Friday.
…
Yes, well I’m sure the Israelis have no intention of signing up for ‘involuntary radiation treatment’.
And since when did the Ayatollah Khamenei become a medical doctor for the nations? Dr Mengele redux…?
Cheers

Israel will only get one kick at the can. No second chance. They better make it good. All these hints around the globe signalling a time frame for when to attack certainly eliminates any chance for a surprise attack. Iran will be ready and waiting. Nukes look like the best option when all other options look grim. Hope not, but would not surprise me.
Oh you’re so right on that call – I can see the Aspers giving Israel top billing in their human rights mausoleum, if Isreal sacrifices itself to politically correct ideologies and surrenders to the Islamist hoards.
Thank you, Jimmy Carter.
According to Daniel Pipes, who was on The Source last night speaking to this issue, a July attack is the best guess.

Fortunately the greatest statesman in world history has this issue well in hand. Listen to Al-Jazeera,and wonder why Leon Panetta says what he says.

Your video posting lays out some of the important military issues.
What it does not describe are the millions of Islamists, not only Iranians that have been imported wholesale into western countries.
These people are ideological brothers to the very core, and have the ability to create absolute havoc in our societies.
Thank the “multiculturalism” crowd for insuring that the fight for Islam and their perceived holy land is in our neighbourhoods as well.
It’s not simply the West that is concerned about Iran; it’s the Islamic, Arab (non-Persian) nations of the Middle East: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Iraq.
Iran has imperialist notions and wants to take over these Islamic nations. The arab nations are very worried about this – but- what are they doing?
Why should Israel be the one to confront Iran? Where are the Arab Islamic nations in this situation?
Obama utterly failed to prevent the rise-of-Iran, in his support for Ahmandinejad and his refusal to support the Iranian demonstrators for freedom. The US, under Obama, is out of the picture in this situation; it is hostile to Israel, has no understanding of Islamist fascism, no understanding of the Palestinian situation.
Above all, what are the arab nations doing? They don’t want an all-powerful Iran.
I predict Israel will attack Nov. 7th.
,
sasquatch, you are ruining my dreams. I was hoping for a very large and deep crater to stand as some kind of monument
For your consideration:
http://johngaltfla.com/wordpress/2012/02/02/the-absolute-must-see-video-which-will-send-a-chill-down-your-spine/
Of course, there is NO WAY the Religion of Peace would ever do anything such as this…
ET,
“The arab nations are very worried about this – but- what are they doing?”
The Arab League has been bitterly complaining and condemning the west all week, for not doing enough for their Syrian brothers and sisters. Somehow it’s our fault again, but in reality they know how to milk us for everything they want, with no effort whatsoever.
Maybe we should drop a few billion in bombs again like we did in Libya and let Al Qaeda, The Muslim Brotherhood, or Hamas take over yet another country.
Also to clarify, these ME countries are ideological brothers to the core. That does not mean that they are simply petty kingdoms and tribal buddies. This is a feudal society of inbred peasant families who are using us as their willing pawns in their regional strife’s.
When it comes down to the street level, it’s all against Israel and the west. That is what we inject ourselves into when we align ourselves with “royal” families and their dictatorial monopolies on these archaic populations who at their core are all predisposed towards the same goal. Namely their delusional bid for global religious & legal dominance, and our societal destruction via conversion to their ideologies, which they are winning by increments.
ET, don’t forget that Obama- that wise man who is better than us all and completely deserving of a second term- wanted to meet Iran without pre-conditions.
What if the other Arab states want Israel to do its dirty work for it? Let Israel settle Iran’s hash and the rest of the Islamic world can say with some sort of strange and malevolent authority that Israel is rotten and deserves to be attacked. Killing two birds with one stone, so to speak.
Well said, Knight99.
I would rather see Israel, a living Israel condemned, than a dying Israel receive the sympathy and condolences of the international community
Unfortunately, if Israel strikes, he’ll probably see both parts come true – an Israel condemned by every tinpot dictatorship and/or Muslim and/or duplicitous (hi France!) state, and a dying Israel, as anyone who doesn’t think that Iran and its pseduo-states (Syria, Hamas, etc.) won’t unleash everything they’ve got in retaliation has been watching too many re-runs of Team America.
Remember that the mullahs in Iran are NOT sane, as the latest Ayatoldyouso’s remarks make clear. Sure, the US might vaporize the Iratians in return, but the key word there is “might”. What does anyone want to bet that Bambam’s support for Israel is a mile wide and an inch deep? After all, he’s snubbed Israeli PM’s, and bowed to the Saudi king. I have a sneaking suspicion – and it’s only that – that he’d be just as happy to see Iran’s ears pinned back at the same time as Israel is reduced to rubble.
Israel, time and time again has defeated the arabs and they will again Kevinb. Don’t know if you’ve noticed the trend but they seem unable to fight a modern, well equiped military. I don’t think Israel is scared at all of some tin pot conventionally armed country at all. They do fear nukes and once that’s taken care of let the arabs come and let them be roundly defeated once again.
KevinB >
“…as anyone who doesn’t think that Iran and its pseduo-states (Syria, Hamas, etc.) won’t unleash everything they’ve got in retaliation”
Of course they would, as would Israel to be sure.
I would also think that the governing Arab monarchies and their standard military institutions are well aware that Israel is not only nuclear capable but more than likely has every modern chemical and biological weapon known to man, and not above using them.
That said, it’ll come down to the Arab monarchies and dictatorships to quell the insane mullahs out of self preservation. It’s the leading reason why we should not have killed Kaddafi in Libya and handed over those reins of power to the mullahs.
There is no permanent standoff in this issue as Islamic countries gain nuclear capabilities, and Israel absolutely will not go off quietly into the gentle night. It’s the Arab nations that need to solve their own internal issues first and foremost, but that hasn’t happened since the dawn of civilization in that region. Not looking good for them, not a big issue for us if we stay clear.
KevinB, you say “It’s the Arab nations that need to solve their own internal issues first and foremost, but that hasn’t happened since the dawn of civilization in that region.”
I would posit that Israel is an “Arab nation”, and that they have “solve(d) their own internal issues” in a rather short time. You would have been more accurate if you worded it as:
“It’s the Arab nations that need to solve their own internal issues first and foremost, but that hasn’t happened since the dawn of Islam in that region.”
Mark Matis >
That was my comment not KevinB.
“I would posit that Israel is an “Arab nation”,” – Mark Matis
I would agree. – K99
“…..but that hasn’t happened since the dawn of Islam in that region.” – Mark Matis
I would have to disagree. The conflict history of the region predates the Jews, and has been a never ending cycle of conflict and violence for thousands of years. Islam is a product of its ethnic and cultural past. – K99
Mark Matis >
Also to clarify my agreeing point, Israel is a Jewish nation with ancestral nomadic Arabic roots.
Genetically at its core it has a common Arabic ancestry with a few similar traditions, but today heavily impregnated with European genetics after 2000 years of excel then return after ww2.
Just as Iran will fight Israel to the last Palestinian, Araby will fight Israel to the last Iranian.
If Israel’s forces are committed 1600 km away, that is when the starving Egyptians and the Levant Arabs will attack.
So hard to calculate a paranoid culture of cowardice that always tries to get somebody else to do their fighting for them.
Even the Crusaders complained because Ottomen Turks would push the women n kids out the front door of the fort, lock it, and run away out the back.
The good news? My commercial pilot friend told me of the head mechanic at the Royal’s airport in Jeddah- he was holding the manual upside down and didn’t know it. Illiterate as a toolbox. Most of ’em are.
I would rather see Israel, a living Israel condemned, than a dying Israel receive the sympathy and condolences of the international community.”
Amen.
Iran has been in possession of nuclear weapons since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Believing Iran has no nukes is as naive and foolish as believing that the only firearms in Canada are those listed in the gun registry. This whole Iranian nuke issue is little more than political posturing. If Iran is attacked openly they will very likely retaliate with everything they’ve got.
Of course if it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy to believe the propaganda the media serves up then go right ahead. Past experience has always shown that the media only tell the truth… NOT.
Obama will allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon, just as Clinton failed to stop Pakistan’s nuclear program.
To a Democrat, only American nuclear weapons are a threat to world peace.
@ ET
“Where are the Arab Islamic nations in this situation?”
Arabs may have a tribal dislike for each other but the one thing that over rides everything is their hatred for Israel. The other Arab countries may not like the idea of Iran having a nuke arsenal but would dance in the streets at the first mushroom cloud over Israel.
Iranians are not arabs…..
Most of the Gulf arabs are Sunnite…Iran is shiite.
Irans rhetoric has the Gulf arabs more than uneasy.
The Gulf arabs have been buying cutting edge weapon systems from the US and Europe, probably outspending the Iranians.

“The good news? My commercial pilot friend told me of the head mechanic at the Royal’s airport in Jeddah- he was holding the manual upside down and didn’t know it. Illiterate as a toolbox. Most of ’em are.”
That is a widespread situation in the ME….that is the good news….and the reason the Israeli’s consistantly defeat the arabs in war.
BTW…..look at the map….
Compare the distance from Israel to Iran…..
to the distance from Israel to Uganda….
Nuf said.
If there is such a thing as a Messiah, it could only be the person who formulated the fundamental moral principle of a civilized society, namely that no person has the right to initiate the use of force or fraud on any other person.
The Israelis might calculate that attacking Iran when Syria is near collapse would be their best timing option. That might argue for March or April as the time this goes down.
Crazy people have had nukes before and not used them. But those crazy people didn’t believe in the twelfth imam concept, just that communism would actually work.
