  2. Reminded me of the Black Eyed Peas at the Grey Cup a few years back. Everybody got up and went for a beer.
    Same for the anthem. Clarkson butchered it. Why can’t people just ‘sing’ the anthem anymore. I don’t want your personal rendition. Honour your country and those who died for it and respect your anthem.
    Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert nailed America the Beautiful (the only surprise was that they were allowed to sing a song that mentioned God)
    Have a half time show that fits the demographic of the audience. Half time at the Grey Cup in Regina 2013 should be the Guess Who. Opening with Running back to Saskatoon!

    I couldn’t agree with you more. I hate it when a national anthem, and I don’t care whose anthem it is, is sung like it was a lounge act in some cheesie bar. It really turns me off.

  16. Hilarious tweet, Kate. I missed the entire half time. Later, my daughter asked me why they got a 60 year old to do the Super Bowl half time and why she was trying to act like a high school cheerleader.
    I also agree with Derek and Louise above. Just sing the anthem, no matter how fancy you make it, it won’t win you a Grammy.

  17. Halftime… Hmmm, I thought it was the best one I’ve seen. The use of the on-field projection, the homage paid to Madonna, and her influence, the use of the crowd. Cee Lo’s involvement. Her music was never my favourite, but the production was superlative. Tell me how I’m wrong. I’m reading bitching and moaning.

Did not watch either …I know I am wrong but I feel like the message they both send is if you pay for champion dog fighting and shoot yourself in the foot in a night club and statutorily rape under age white girls (mickeal vick ,and a few Dallas cowboys a few years ago) your forgivable and are still a hero but if you pray on the field and count your blessings and give thanks to Jesus your a piece of human garbage and deserve criticism (tebow) and if you glorify orgies and all kinds of nasty hard core porn , and like deep throating wine bottles on camera and encourage promiscuity (Madonna truth or dare) you deserve the largest viewing audience and surely are again a testament to American exceptionalism and a professional worthy of applause….hence the reason I don’t and won’t ever watch it ever again. Such a waste of time energy and hype. Now I am sure the two teams will feel the need to celebrate so more interracial underaged std infested orgies ,a lot of booze for so many ungreatful losers both teams …way over payed and totally underworked . Yeah I am bitter about the way the American culture has been perverted and if you don’t like what I say go pound sand. It is all true . Same with baseball and badketball. NASCAR is just as perverted they just do it professionally ..like hey I boinked your wife so now you guys divorce and then I can boink her some more till I get bored of her then I will swap her with another racers wife and we can just play musical wives and stuff. All of it pathetic …it happens in all manners of hi priced athletes I guess.

  22. lol… so, let me see if I understand this. Comments so far express a sense that people feel they are generally above the entertainment put forth by the NFL or those of the halftime show, anthem singers and the like… despite hundreds of millions who clearly disagree.
    This feels a lot like reading the leftist’s blogs frowning upon the political views of the CPOC or those expressed in this blog.
    Anyone wanna have an actual take, because ridicule and arrogance are the tools of the other guys, aren’t they?!?!?

  23. There is a difference though Dennis. I didn’t watch the Superbowl. Unlike your average leftist, I have no desire to ban the Superbowl or otherwise prevent anyone else from watching it.

    Thought Madge was great. Compared to the last 1/2 dozen productions.
    Oh yeah, it was a Canadian company that organized the half time show.

  29. Wow,what a bunch of spoilt sports here. A close championship game and some folks found it dull because they didn’t rack up points like a basketball game? I guess they wouldn’t care for a Stanley cup game won by only a score in the last few minutes of the game either.
    I can’t say I’ve been a Madonna fan but the half-time show was pretty spectacular production and a lot more entertaining than a bunch of frozen Canuck rockers trying to look “cool”. Besides, at 53, she seems to still have some moves left.
    I’m just a bit disappointed the Pats lost.

  35. I listened to Super Bowl coverage on the radio and turned it off during halftime. Made a quick bite to eat and turned it back on after the Attention Whore silliness.
    There’s little difference between Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Joan Rivers — and scant collective talent.

  36. The halftime show is for the chicks, Dennis,… so they’ll make us sandwiches. It’s a huge conspiracy that doesn’t include the words “the production was superlative” ever.

    Game was great, watching Brady and Manning on their last drives was awesome. Close game that could have blown up at any moment in either direction. Like watching a bomb squad juggle.
    Glad Bilacheat lost and Eli made the sports press EAT the words “Top 5 Quarterback”.
    The NFL is the only entertaining sport I can find to watch anywhere.

  38. Walked my dog during the half time. Finally in Canada I was able to watch the commercials on an American channel NBC without the crap Canadian content! Thought the game was good especilly the last 5 mins. During the season I watched a number of far less entertaining NFL games.

  39. Jeez. First time I ever watched her, and I didn’t recognize any songs, but I thought that for an 50 something broad she looked damned good. Had some pretty slinky moves, too.
    Hell, I even liked the boots and that SDA tattoo…

  41. Personally I enjoyed the half time show. Thought Madonna did a great job. Would be a dull world if we all had the same tastes.
