  1. It wouldn’t be the first time that big labour thugs sold out their private sector “brothers” jobs for the perception of more power through the NLRB.
TRANSCANADA is possibly going to build most of the pipe line anyway without the need for federal approval by servicing the Bakken fields with enough capacity to extend to cross the border into Alberta after America elects a president whose interests include most Americans.

  2. Obama’s prorities
    #1: Re-election.
    #2: Democratic Greenie Base
    #3: Labor Unions
    #4: Arugula Farmers
    #5: Kobe Beef Suppliers

#109: Replacing Middle East Oil sources

  3. Solyndra victory, pipeline victory – a few more victories for this president and there won’t be a United States. Oh…

  4. Obama has been running for re-election since 08. Between Vacations, golf and raising money for this coming election we can be grateful he did not have more time to actually run the country. He did enough damage in the time he spent making decisions and at least the rest of the year will be spent on the election trail.

  5. Hey, President Obama, you just destroyed 20,000 jobs. What are you going to do next?
    Obama: I’m going to Disneyworld!!!

  6. Koch brothers would make money off of the pipeline. Koch brothers are determined to destroy Obama. What was that quote…pleasing your enemies does not turn them into your friends?

  7. Obama made another decision for his benefit not for Americans, no surprise, that’s what he does.

  8. That joe klein qould criticize obama on this is surprising.
Good article and a plausible expaination.
Sadly the northern gateway pipeline will take years ans years to be approved. It will be a mess unless the peocess gets overridden…..unlikely.
The chinese threat is an empty one based on the knots the aboriginals ans the greenies can create.

  9. Obama has decided to steer the ship of state like a Italian Carnival cruise ship captain. When gas hits six bucks a gallon, that’s him scraping the rocks.

To that I would add imagine what Barry will do if re-elected and no longer has to campaign for re-election. He might actually turn his attention to implementing his hopey-changey agenda. Now that would be scary. Barry has to go.

  11. The Americans must feel proud of their leader who would put thousands of jobs on the shelf in a desperate economic environment to seemingly ensure his crack at a second term. You would think that he already knows that with the field of bumbling idiots the Republicans are forwarding his second term is all but guaranteed and that he could have approved the pipeline anyway especially since he can only serve two terms.

  12. The death knell for the XL pipeline came when Obama bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia.ALL the protests are for pipelines GOING to export terminals and NONE are for pipelines AWAY from terminals.Greenpiece is against tankers EXPORTING oil from North America but there is NO presence of Greenpiece in Port Arthur harbour trying to stop importing oil from the Saudi’s.

  13. If the pipeline(s) proceed(s), the biggest environmental threat is going to be from the radical environmentalists themselves.
I have no doubt that some of these people are radical enough, especially if they are financed by anti-Western powers, to sabotage the pipelines and cause oilspills and environmental damage in order to make their point. Pipeline sabotage has certainly happened in the past in Canada because of the actions of radical environmentalists. And they don’t take into account the hypocrisy of such actions — palpable damage to the environment — because their anti-West anti-capitalist ideology even trumps their stated respect for environmental integrity.
Meanwhile, they fight imaginary environmental depravity before the pipeline goes forward. And if the pipeline succeeds — both economically AND environmentally — the enviro-fanatics will be sure to sabotage it in order to say: “we told you it wouldn’t work!”.
    Ideological psychopaths.
