The Worst Product Flops of 2011;
3. Volt
Company: General Motors
GM (GM) was originally so excited about the Volt that the company had announced in January it was speeding up its roll-out by six months. But by November the excitement had fizzled out. Larry Nitz, GM’s executive director for vehicle electrification told Reuters, “It’s naive to think that the world is going to switch tomorrow to EVs [electric vehicles].” Indeed, sales for the vehicle have been consistently low. Only 125 models were sold in July 2011. This was after GM spokeswoman Michelle Bunker was quoted as saying that the Volt was “virtually sold out” due to its popularity — a statement later shown to be misguided. Adding insult to injury, Chevy Volts are under investigation for fires involving the cars’ lithium-ion batteries. For concerned Volt owners, GM has offered free loaner cars.

shocking…
” Eggies ” isn’t on the list. That is surprising, people nust be actually buying them.
How come we never see anyone in the Obama administration riding a Segway?
(OK. Good point. Let me rephrase that.)
How come we never see anyone riding a Segway?
Now, GM is advising Volt owners to bring their EVs to the dealerships for a customer service campaign, which is like a recall but without the bad publicity attached.
After Fire Issues, GM Prepares for Volt “Recall”
http://www.dailytech.com/After+Fire+Issues+GM+Prepares+for+Volt+Recall/article23684.htm
Not only that,ES,but they are recalling 8,000 vehicles! Hummmmmmm….they only sold 7,400,so where are the other 600 hiding? With Einrich’s missing heat maybe?(AGW scam for the unaware)
Waiting for the ReVolt !
8000 Volts recalled, 4400 not even sold yet recalled from the show rooms.
Now that’s a recall.
Is it true that when they’re sent back they’ll be Re-named the “ReVolt?”.

‘Misguided’, that’s an MSM euphemism for ‘out and out lie by a left wing sycophant’ isn’t it?
The MSM uses a pretty sharp pencil when it conjugates the verb ‘lie’. I may have been misinformed but was essentially correct, the left wing sycophant was misguided, the filthy corrupt conservative lied through his teeth.
I sent this to the National Post on this subject a while ago.
Heaven help you if anything goes wrong and the vehicle is in need of repair. The towing bill to the nearest service center could be worth more than the car. The biggest issue I see is the declining value, as the battery lifespan is estimated at anywhere from 8 to twelve years, Good luck trying to sell the thing at the 7 year mark. At the twelve year mark you probably need a long extension cord to make it around the block and the value of your investment would hit zero. Even worse is that you are probably the proud owner of toxic waste and have to pay a fortune to get rid of it. No logic or common sense in buying these cars at this time. All you are really doing is confirming what your neighbors already believe. Nice person but a real granola crunching foam at the mouth treehugger and dumb as a stick.
Something “virtual” is not really the thing that it virtually is. So that quote sounds accurate to me.
What amazes me is that the Volt is rated 3rd and not first. Yes RIM has blown some raspberries lately but compared to the Volt? I wouldn’t even have a Volt near my house lest the thing spontaneously combust.
Dolts buy Volts to pretend they care about mother earth.
It is so phony even Obama … America’s leading phony can’t sell it.
It is only natural to do what we humans do, largely unfettered. Then, let the earth and nature do what it does. Only then will we know if what we are doing is right or wrong, good or bad. We cannot manipulate nature, we can only adapt to it. Nature big and we are small.
Evolution is based on adaptation. It is a strength of living beings, that we can adapt to a changing world and changing environment. Every major change make us stronger and wiser.
To have no change is near-death life. Humans thrive on change. We like challenge, freedom to explore new things. Go and live in new places. To succeed in our own lives … most human are this way.
That is our nature … to deny it is to embrace a near-death life. We don’t do well spiritually if we have no challenge, no surprises, no change, more or less even distribution of wealth or more likely, poverty.
But I digress …. My point is that the Chevy Volt, as ordered up by Obama and not by customer demand is an unnatural thing. It is symbolic of the near-death side of the current social and political equation. It is utter failure on many levels.
Most greenies buy electric cars with the misguided belief they’re reducing pollution, when in fact they’re charging the car with dirty polluting coal fired electricity. A clean-diesel VW produces less pollution per mile than an electric car.

You have stumbled into the leftist word trap. Dirty coal is like social justice.
Coal at least in North America is relatively clean polutionwise, CO2 is not polution.
Your woodstove doesn’t crap up your chimney, waste fuel like a Franklin stove…but burning wood is still evil….
Diesel is perhaps the most efficient internal combustion engine, and electonic fuel management means you aren’t “working in the shade” anymore but to the greenies any emmision…indeed anything useful/productive is evil.
CO2 is not polution.
..and I’ve never said it was.
but burning wood is still evil….

Coal at least in North America is relatively clean polutionwise
..but still dirty compared with other sources of electricity. That doesn’t make it clean.
Always make sure you have the correct target in your sights before you pull the trigger.
