Things You’ll Never See On The CBC

Rex Murphy;

Justice is not, as the maxim has it, blind. Not in Canada, at least. Lady Justice very definitely peeps out from under the blindfold when it comes to certain groups. Choices of when to enforce the law, and when not to, and upon whom it will be enforced, sometimes are made according to skin colour. It’s something we were supposed to stop doing decades ago, when racism fell out of fashion. But now we’re doing it again – this time, under a “progressive” banner.
In fact, maybe Lady Justice wears her emblematic blindfold these days – not out of determined disinterest – but because she’s just a little ashamed. She doesn’t want to see what’s happening to the values she once embodied.

  1. Remember when South Africa was the bad boy of the Commonwealth? all those folks around the world chiming in on Apartheid and such. It seems so long ago now…
There was a call for one state, one law, no more of this “two tier” or at least that’s what the progressives told us. They’re silent now on Canada’s shame, exactly as Rex said, you’d think Mr. McGuinty would be proud of his government’s handling of this mess.

  2. “Things You’ll Never See On The CBC”
It is for this reason that we have the SunNewsNetwork.

  3. The Caledonia situation is a national disgrace, but it doesn’t appear we have a politician with the death wish necessary to take this on.
The responsibility lies first with McGuinty,he’s the Premier who should have ordered the cops in on day one,but was too cowardly.
Harper’s action,or lack of it,I can understand because the whole Canadian bleeding heart lobby is just waiting for him to do something heavy-handed,in hopes that THIS will be the issue that finally turns Canadians against him.
Put simply, the Indians have trespassed and occupied someone else’s land,a clear violation of Provincial law, land claims notwithstanding, and no one shoulders the blame but Premier Dalton McGuinty, the Pride of Ontario.
Funny, the Left goes into full “outrage” at the mention of a two-tiered health care system, but a two tiered justice system seems to not bother them at all.

  4. That search function at the CBC must be broken…
They seem to have a lot of problems with that, try searching ‘Judy Sgro rent’.

  5. “who should have ordered the cops in on day one,but was too cowardly.”
The cops were there on day one – hundreds of them, well equipped and ready. And then i watched live as all of them retreated in the face of a small mob of unorganized, overweight, retarded adults.
I assume this was dalton’s plan – police were to show up in force but run if there might be trouble or controversy.

  6. I can’t see how this white guilt type of justice helps anyone.
On the east coast, a young native fellow was charged with the robbery and beating murder of a white man. He was lightly dealt with and received little to no punishment.
White inhabitants of the area became aware that their lives were of little value in the court system. It became understood that if you were going to be assaulted by a native youth, you needed to use the most sever of actions to protect yourself. What could have been avoided with a well placed kick was now met with a knife or tire iron to the head. Since the natives had been shown that murder and manslaughter of the white man was dealt with lightly, their victims had to assume that any assault was life threatening and responded in kind.

  7. Given time the Muslims will take care of Canada’s native land claims issues, once they attain enough parliamentary seats.

  8. Until whites admit to themselves that they exist, this will keep happening, I’m afraid. It’s entirely up to you.

  9. doowleb, your comment illustrates the saying, “Justice delayed is justice denied” — for both sides.
When will our lily-livered, lenient, let’s-be-kind, justice “system” grow up and face facts: Two-tiered justice doesn’t work and does more harm than good. Caledonia is a perfect example of this FACT.

  10. It is not only colour, ‘justice’ is also biased with regard to politics and religion. In Calgary, left wing entitlement weenies will get pandered to in the most shameful manner while Christian street preachers like Rev Paslowski (sp?) and conservative activists like Cory Morgan will feel the heavy hand of Nenshi’s strike forces PDQ for engaging in the very same activities.

  11. It’s hard to have faith in our system of justice in this country,a country supposedly run by the rule of law emphasizing all are equal before and under the law. This case proves it’s pure bull crap, thanks to cowardice at all levels of government and the justice system.
The “white” man would not be walking free with merely a slap on the wrist if the situation were reversed.

  12. Ontario, without the rule of law, it is sort of like Somalia, a failed state.
Just who does Ontario want to imitate when it grows up, Mexico?

  13. It’s okay if Smoke gets a light sentence, because after all…crime rates in Canada are going down.

  14. The lack of search results on the CBC site is astonishing. I did not realize CBC was THAT bad — silly me.

  15. First comment here — just gotta say this is a *great* site! As good or better than the best independent US conservative blogs.
Informative, thought-provoking, irreverent and often really funny — what’s not to like?

  16. “…Yet Premier Dalton McGuinty has remained silent on the subject.”
    But not Hudak, eh?
I mean, man oh man is he ever tearing the airwaves apart with his denunciations!

  17. This “adjusting historical inequities” policy in reference to Native crime wasn’t so bad when it only involved property crime (usually covered by insurance anyway). But the judge in the case has extended it to assault and battery, attempted murder, etc. The message being sent to Native radicals is: “It’s OK to beat up Whitey, and if he gets permanent brain damage or dies, oh well — them’s the breaks!”
You also may as well put out a neon sign for every criminal organization in the country: “NATIVES FOR HIRE — NATIVE ENFORCERS, THUGS AND HIT MEN CONTRACTED FOR LOWER PRICES, LOW RISK FOR SERIOUS JAIL TIME!”
For the same reason that organized crime often uses juveniles to its dirty work, they will now be able to employ Canadian Natives: Low risk for serious jail time if they are caught and convicted.
Some day, maybe in a future incarnation, Canada will actually produce a Liberal politician or a judge with an IQ surpassing 60, or that of a moron. (Although I think in this particular case the judge would even be an embarassment to morons).

  18. Ricardo..See what you did there? “Natives for hire.” Kidding right?.. Welcome Steve..Where were you linking from?

  19. ” his grandfather went to residential school”?, good reproducing god! I hope my get out of jail free card is coming soon cause my dear departed mother was sent to boarding school. I must have a murderous rage abrewing in me, somewhere, I guess. Once again, Rex provides the best analysis around, Thanks Rex.

  20. If, and I stress if, this leads to an occurrence of what appears to be vigilante justice, will the CBC search feature suddenly be overwhelmed with hits on Caledonia and it’s crisis of racist violence?

  21. The just-us business exists to make lawyers and judges richer. It has little or nothing to do with the concept of justice, fairness or the rule of law.

  22. Saw the fellow leading the protests to reclaim their town. Him and other citizens have been arrested multiple times, only to have the charges dropped right before trial. Shamefull.
On this smoke fellow… the presideing judge spoke of the horrific beating and near death of the man in his mid-constructed house. Smoke was tresspassing, ambushed him with a 2×4, beat him to an ince of death.
When it was time for sentencing, the same judge cited the Gladue statute and gave the indian 8 or 9 months. We all know 8-9 months translates to about 90 days. The victim is totally screwed, no balance, jumbled memory, bad vision.
Better hone up on you self protection skills people, cause no one else is going to help you.

  23. Welcome Steve Macdonald. This IS the place to be.
And we had better prepare ourselves, as said above, “hone up on self protection skills. Because NO one else is going to help you”- look at the Vancouver Riots. Deliberately done right in front of the entire world. The whole city watching and cringing while disgust built for the police force and the mayor and that disgust remains. It took George Soros to get Gregor re-elected. His money was good for that. No good little leftist is to be ignored.
If any Van citizen had ANY backbone that mayor would be in a tent with the now defunct occupiers that cost the city almost a million dollars!
Law abiding, tax paying citizens mean nothing when there is a cause to be supported by those we hire to do the job of law enforcement and protection.
