Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

More cultural enrichment in Belgium…
http://islamversuseurope.blogspot.com/2011/12/more-cultural-enrichment-in-belgium.html
“Belgium grenade attack kills two
The attack took place around noon on Saint-Lambert square, home to the town’s courthouse and located near a busy Christmas market, Belga news agency said.
One of two or more assailants threw stun grenades into the courthouse while another was hurled at a bus shelter, RTL-TV1 said.
Shots were fired across the square by gunmen posted on the rooftop of a bakery shop, with further shots heard later from across town.
Police cordoned off the square and gave chase to the assailants, one of whom was reportedly killed.
The Karachi Post in Pakistan claimed that the attack was linked to a sentence in an honour killing case. It said the parents of Sadia Sheikh were sentenced on Monday when there had been a bomb alert in the court.
Gaspard Grosjean, a journalist for La Meuse Liege on the scene, told The Daily Telegraph there was panic and confusion on the streets of Liege.
“There is at least one dead and the attacker. Police are looking for another shooter. There are lots of ambulances and many casualties – at least 10 people.
“At the moment you can’t move in the city centre. People are crying and in shock – they do not know what is going on. Everyone has been told to stay inside and are hiding in shops.”
Police were not immediately contactable to confirm the toll or events.
The attack comes a day after a Belgian court sentenced four members of a Pakistani family to prison for the murder of their law student daughter and sister in the country’s first “honour killing” trial.
After pronouncing the family members guilty for the shooting death of 20-year-old Sadia Sheikh in October 2007, the jury sentenced father Tarik Mahmood Sheikh to 25 years behind bars, mother Zahida Parveen Sariya to 20 years, brother Mudusar to 15 and sister Sariya to five years, media reported.
Lawyers for the family said brother Mudusar, who confessed to pulling the trigger on the three bullets that killed his sister, was handed a lesser jail term than his parents as they were considered to have ordered the girl’s death.
Of course, it was a tiny minority of extremists, the vast majority of muslims are peaceful, there is no sanction for honour killings in islam (despite 91% of honour crimes worldwide being committed by muslims) and if you question any of this you’re a racist, islamophobic bigot who should die of cancer.
There, I think that covers everything.

Back in the very old olden days of yore, when feminists were still feminists and men were still men (way back about six or seven years ago), women falsely accused as “witches” was one of the favourite subjects of feminists in sociology and anthropology departments in Universities across the country. You could probably not count the number of PhD’s that were granted based on “witchcraft” or related theses on its misogynistic roots in Medieval society.
The irony of course is that witchcraft trials had been defunct in the West for centuries — but it served the interest of radical feminist academics to constantly bring it to our rememberance, as if Western men were about to reinstitute the practice of executing witches at any given moment.
My my, how the post-modern feminist has progressed — from trumping up misogynistic witchcraft attitudes in the West, to ignoring these sorts of deadly accusations completely where they still actually occur: under contemporary radical Islam.
By the way, the phenomenon today is not unlike Medieval times — where women who were “witches” were often convicted by the false testimony and complicity of other women, not unlike the complicity of Western feminists to speak out against the practice in Islam and their acquiecense to other forms of brutality against Muslim women under the rubric of “cultural sensitivity”.
I wonder when a Western feminist will receive her first PhD equivalent of “Doctor of Cultural Cowardice”.
Your headline “Those Moderate Muslims” which then leads to a story about Saudi Arabia,is misleading.
The “Moderate Muslims” are found in Iran.
If you read the story, it turns out that the woman who was executed was defrauding sick people:
“The London-based al-Hayat daily, however, quoted Abdullah al-Mohsen, chief of the religious police who arrested the woman, as saying she had tricked people into thinking she could treat illnesses, charging them $800 per session.”
No word on how many, if any, died as a result of her ripping them off.
Not so fast – in our culture we call what she did “holistic medicine”…
Speaking of cultural sensitivity, wouldn’t it be great to use Saudi Arabia as a compulsory field trip / lab exercise for Women Studies, Anthropology and Archeology students. Of course they would have to abide by strict multicultural protocols by remaining non-judgemental about life in the Seventh Century but hey, where else can you actually go back in time outside of the world of fiction. They should each be required to observe at least one be-heading to complete undergraduate studies and at least five for any post graduate work to appreciate the various nuances.
In Canada she would be considered an entrepreneur.
On the lighter side of this tragedy …. Who was she … really?
Word has it that she caused men to have erections that lasted for more than four hours.
Saudi livestock owners say many of their herds have been showing signs of fatigue. This may be related.
I know this is dark humor, but when I read the headline I started laughing. What can I say ….. These Islamists are insane.
I am not sure what is worse. The fact that they killed her for practicing witchcraft or the fact that they believe in practicing witchcraft.
I am sure there are kids in grade school with more common sense than the people in power in these countries. Utter morons stuck in the dark ages.
These are the people that our elected leaders have to waste time dealing with on an international level.
Can anyone explain to me why they would deserve any respect from anyone?
Really no different than what occurs in Communist China, except that instead of being done in the name of Sharia law and religion it is done in the name of Marxist ideology and atheism.
The workers in China who were imputed ideological blame for the incidents of tainted baby food and lead paint in children’s toys a couple year ago — which didn’t pass muster simply because the products were exported to the West — were all executed by firing squad. And not a word of protest about these brutal executions from the companies in the West who imported the products — companies were just happy that the “criminals” were prosecuted, and baby food/toy production was again safe and they could resume trade with China.
The sins of the West in its complicity with brutal tyrannies began long before radical Islam came on the scene…
They[women’s studies students] should each be required to observe at least one be-heading to complete undergraduate studies and at least five for any post graduate work to appreciate the various nuances.

What they need to see is a woman stoned for adultery.
But they have to show up early at the square in Riyadh to savour the whole experience.
(a little known fact about stonings is that the religious police round up people in the vicinity of the execution pit and make them that part in the stoning)
Imagine what they would do to modern herbalists in the West?
Can anyone explain to me why they would deserve any respect from anyone?

easy trev, oil.
it’s ALL about oil.
the great US of A with its (ironically, nuclear powered) carriers and all those SUVs gulping billions of barrels of the stuff.
WW III will be about water.
Yaaaaaawn. Again?
What kills me is when I meet engineers who have converted to Islam, they claim it’s because Islam is “so scientific”.
I have to stifle my guffaws.
