I have always said that they shouldn’t rely on wind to turn those propeller blades, diesel engines are far more reliable.

It’s almost as if these “alternative energy” touts don’t remember that just last year(and for several previous years) the very reason they demanded these windmills to be constructed was because CO2 caused CAGW is supposed to bring about “exceptional” weather conditions and events.

If, as the wing flack states, the turbines operate 85% of the time, we need those in southwest Alberta where I hardly ever see a blade turning.

That number, 80-85%, seems a bit wonky. They may generate some electricity 80-85% of the time but I doubt if it’s anywhere near its nameplate capacity. It is amazing how weasel words by activists so easily slip by clueless reporters. BTW, did any conventional power sources have to be turned off, quit working, collapse or burst into flames during the windstorm?

Another of our Mayor’s legacy projects. He wants to be the “green mayor” and thinks we should look to Europe for guidance. I thought they were going broke. Sometime after 2021 it might turn a small profit each year after being in operation for 9 years. Hope it doesn’t need any repairs or falls over in the meantime.

Funny how the greens really pushed natural gas to run thermal plants, as long as it was more expensive then coal. Now that gas appears will be the best fuel because it will be the cheapest, the greens are fighting it tooth and nail.
To top it all off, the new abundance of gas will be redult in a lot of new jobs in the chemical industry: ethane from Pennsylvania will feed chemical plants in Sarnia and a multi billion dollar ethane cracker to be built in Ohio or Pennsylvania by Shell.
I’d rather be on a wind farm than in a coal mine if safety were my top concern.
The Green climate change zealots have been enormously sucessful at defining the language used in discussion. Only in the most peverted Orwelian nightmare would a 650′ wind turbine tower be called a “windmill”.
Similarly a cluster of these behemoths within a 50 acre field would not be called a “wind farm”.
these are industrial wind power installations, they have nothing whatever to do with farming.
Just as the Alberta oil sands are called “tar sands” industrial wind developments are called the more cudly “wind farms”
Don’t fall for this green newspeak.

In my darkest imaginings of the future there is no green of England nor English any more.
Only a white endless snowscape where Eskimos and their children hunt and flee from polar bears among the rows and rows of towering turbines, gaunt against the greying sky…and they gaze up wondering what fate drove the long forgotten inhabitants who forsook their great civilization to build these monuments to madness and then, perishing with the consuming effort of it, left nothing behind to reveal the puzzel like the monolithic rows of those stone heads on Easter Island.

Yes, and it’s also funny how the campaign against the oil sands didn’t get started until Ezra Levant labeled them as “ethical oil”. The greens want the U. S. to have to rely on conflict oil or oil from unstable sources, because that’s more disruptive to its economy. They don’t want the U. S. or any other capitalist country to succeed, because they hate capitalism.
As for the quote about vacating wind farms, in how many other large enterprises of this sort do the personnel leave en masse in certain circumstances? It’s irresponsible to run an energy producing plant (and many other things) without constant supervision, in case something goes wrong.

Fritz Grobe and Stephen Voltz created a single-seat rocket car powered by 54 bottles of Coke Zero and 324 Mentos. They say the Mark II traveled 239 feet, improving upon last year’s 220 feet with only half the fuel.
