Two words – director liability. If the directors want to sue against orders from the government that has a legal right to issue such orders let them pay the costs.

The CWB has become a cancer for the people of Canada. Protected through its legislated monopoly, it exists purely for its own sake to the detriment of the nation as a whole.
Mr.Voss and Mr.Nielsen were part of a group wishing to bring some light into the workings of the CWB.I suppose that they actually thought that they could make friends and work with the directors that wanted to keep the status quo and bring some transparity to the board.Now,if they didnt realize it before,have found out what absolute sleaze bags socialist are.I commend them for their actions and await their statements on the workings of the board.

Well, the Globe and Mail actually ran a story on this with a tone evidently critical of the Wheat Board and sympathetic to their critics. Which tells us that the Wheat Board goons didn’t go to the trouble of lining up their media first.
Which does not bode well for them. They can only succeed if the fix is in, and this suggests rather strongly that, at least from the point of view of the de Grandpre wing of the Liebral Party, the fix hasn’t even been considered yet.

Remember when Paul Martins friend, the mining company CEO, who handled 800 thousand bushels through the port of Churchill, and he didn’t own a grain bin, well this crap will not happen again. Think if he only took a few cents a bushel going onto those CSL ships, that was a lot of money. Fact: Stephen Harper was democratically elected and he has a mandate to do exactly what he’s doing.
Democracy refers to the election of a government via a popular vote. That’s all it is. The farmer’s right to market his or her own grain as he or she chooses is not an issue that should be subject to any kind of vote by any group of people. It’s an individual right. But the clowns at the Council of Canadians have no understanding of individual rights. Each individual farmer is perfectly placed to decide on what is in his own best interests — the Council of Canadians is not.
Not surprisingly, it sounds like the real issue here is cushy government jobs, over farmers’ rights.
I looked up Food Secure Canada and it’s a loopy left organization with the motto “Where agriculture, environment, health, food and justice intersect”. Food and justice? Like, what did Beverley McLachlin have for lunch today?
It also has a link to something called the “People’s Food Policy”. One thing you can bank on in life is that anything with the word “people’s” in its title is anything but. They’re always about a small self-appointed elite trying to dictate to everyone.

Let me get this. The Harper government isn’t democratic because they ran on a policy of axing the wheat board, they won overwall, won overwhelmingly in the West, and they are doing as promised.
The wheat mafia are democratic because they believe Parliament isn’t sovereign and a Liberal government of the past can bind a Conservative government of the future by simple legislation.
It’s worse than that scar. The plebiscite that the CWB tyrants are saying legitimizes their position was a big sham. On or farm my father and I farm together; we received 1 vote between us. The 3 landlords we rent from who haven’t set foot on a farm in 20 years each got a ballot, and they farm less than 1/5 of the land we do combined. And yes the voters list was carefully selected by the directors of the CWB.
Even though it was heavily weighted to over-represent non-farmers, the vote still barely came out to a simple majority. Certainly not enough to require forced participation by all prairie farmers.
Well, I notice a full-page ad in today’s Globe from the good old Wheat Board, so I guess yesterday’s critical piece was a warning to get that damned check in the mail.
And it worked! The Saturday Globe is back to pimping the Wheat Board. Whoo, that was a close one.
