It is also notable that within days of these events, the embassy of Saudia Arabia, a state which until recently was viewed as a potentially heavyweight broker in the negotiation process, has decided to pull up stakes and evacuate its staff from Kabul.

And just think …. the US is going to implement policy from Obobo………….

The negotiation process being dead is no good reason to evacuate their entire embassy.
They were probably involved in the hit on Burhanuddin Rabbani and are either:
a) afraid of payback
or
b) they have back channel knowledge that Pakistan is going to nuke Kabul.
I’ll go with a).
I’m just glad Canada’s out of there.
‘
NATO did not go in there to win, and it not clear to me that even if there was a more aggressive effort, it was worthwhile.
The CF did a great job with what they were given, made Canada proud, considering the situation they were in. But the futility of it became increasingly apparent in recent years. I just hope we don’t inherit any more refugees from that land of lunatics. There will be high proportion of jihadis and future terrorists in that group for sure.
How many people does Canada have left in Afghanistan at this point? I hope Harper is smart enough to shrink our footprint there as quickly as possible. This notion of “training” the Afghan army and police seems laughable to me.
There’s a war coming with Isreal soon, & the Saudis as usual want to play footsies behind the stage.
Pakistan is almost at critical mass as it is.
“Isreal”
can somebody arrange a fund drive so the rev can buy a goddamm spell checker?
no fan of sda. f&^ck you
You misspelled “f#ck you”, kelly.
;^)
kelly,
I don’t like the Seventh Day Adventists much myself.
So tell me, why do you think the Saudis evacuated their embassy in Kabul?
Do you even know what a Saudi is or where Kabul is?
Should I be writing this with crayons to help you comprehend?
In any event, the Saudis are not to be trusted as regional security partners.
It is worthwhile to remember that Wahhabism – which is the essential source of most of the current round of Islamic extremism – is a Saudi contrivance.
