  6. Don’t get your hopes up. This is almost certainly an artifact of the measurement technique. In other words, they are almost certainly not measuring speed in the right way (the literature is rife with claims of superluminal propagation).
    The only way to conclusive demonstrate a true signal speed is to use the neutrinos to encode information and then to do a bit error rate test. Given that we are talking neutrinos here, this is highly non-trivial.

And, one notices the significant difference between these real scientists, and the faux climate scientologists. These real scientists put their information out there for close scrutiny. The climate guys … not so much.

    There will be no faster of light travel for a while…first they have to figure out how to get matter to approach not exceed the speed of light….seems that currently matter exhibits energy characteristics the faster it goes…
    Unless somebody figures out how to build a transporter…beam me up….

    question come if teacher and how to teach subject need special coursed and that is problems so many people know math but not able to teach them
    teacher in ontario need to take some subject to increase the level of their teaching and attract kid to listen to them to subject and turn boring class room to enjoy learing class room by skills
    other subject like fun gym or dance club or music
    or French
    why this french teacher never care student do not understand their language and even if kids like to learn french they do not have good french teacher to teach them well and this is only for laugh at french teacher in class for kids not to learn french as second laungage in Ontario
    french teacher in ontario are all stink they do not try to learn french with intent
    if you like to be good in Mathmatics is to do more practice
    some subject need to learn that your brain develop from A to Z if you do not learn grade 7 math you can learn grade 8 math
    teacher in Ontario are so lazy

Proving that anything can travel faster than light would be like proving ESP, capturing ET or finding evidence of the extra dimensions proposed in string theory. It would fundamentally change our understanding of physics but would only be understood by a handful of people. This is why the proof would have to extraordinary to be believed.
    Subatomic particle are mysterious. For example, I remember reading that electron pairs spin and when one changes direction its pair also changes direction simultaneously even though they are large distances from each relative to their size. (they always spin in opposite directions). At that time physicist did not understand how this was done but perhaps they now understand it.

    Tachyons aren’t “real particles” as such. If they exist, yeah, they would “travel faster than light”. They wouldn’t, however, transmit information at speeds exceeding C, or violate causality. Most of the stuff you’ve “learned” about them on Star Trek is wrong.

    I wrote a poem called Relativity a few years back:

    Under the theory of relativity, if an object with mass moves close to the speed of light (commonly abbreviated c) then its mass gets bigger; exactly at the speed of light its mass would become infinite.
    For an object with mass (such as a neutrino) to travel even faster than that, the equations break down (they get a square root of -1 in the denominator), and you get weird behaviors like objects experiencing a time dimension at right angles to what we consider time.
    If independent analysis of their data agrees with their conclusion, then every Physics textbook in the world just became outdated. We would have to abandon the standard model of particle physics.

    as to the topic at hand, C has been under question almost since the day it was proposed by Aldert, but the real question lies with MASS, as the with the LHC they are trying to “find” the Higgs Boson particle, which supposedly imparts mass on other particle. No higgs boson,than E=MC squared takes a big hit. Also, if C is proven to be in error, then other constants will probably fall

    As I’m growing older, I swear time is passing quicker. Perhaps they have discovered why.
    But seriously, for perspective, I looked at a few articles on this and have been able to estimate that the difference in speed (.00000006 sec.)equates to approximately 1.8 cm.
    Over 730km, underground, considering tectonics, ore related magnetic fields, etc. I find the precision of the distance between the start and finish points specious.
