  1. The only thing I see is the other side of the same coin with Perry.
He reminds me of “slick Willy Clinton” in a Republican suit. Without a doubt anyone could do a better job than the first Black Affirmative Action “president”, its unfortunate that Perry is what many Americans believe is the best alternative.
Too the American voters credit, they don’t really have a choice anyway, it’s a rigged game and Perry is simply the groomed choice of a corrupted system. A Coke or Pepsi choice.

  2. Plays like a movie trailer…
    “In a world….. …. ….. one man……..”
I’m still waiting for Chris Christie.

  3. Knight99, Thanks for emoting, but I’m looking for reasons for making a decision.
I see it as an economically successful governor of a large state with some social and stylistic quirks versus a nagging, fumbler presiding over economic disaster.
Maybe some of it is neither man’s fault. In that case, I can’t go wrong by picking the man with better luck.

  4. I like it and would like to see more of it. He needs to show that he will go hard on Obama and his failures.
Zero job growth, a double dip, and green scam seem like a good place to start. Do you think Obama is going to run on his record? Fight fire with fire I say.

  5. Wow. This is Reganesque. He knew you first have to gain back pride before recovery. Hence his “Morning in America” speech.

Ok I’ll be more positive about Perry. Aside from supporting Al Gore’s run for the presidency in 2000, at face value his rhetoric is what conservatives like to hear, myself included.
His support for illegal immigration can be forgiven by some as essential political pandering to a massive Latino demographic in Texas. Unfortunately it doesn’t help solve the problem, nor does it show the presidential character of doing what’s right. In fact Perry’s boasting of job creation betrays the fact that 80% of those jobs went to immigrants, legal & illegal.
What kind of liberty and freedom loving Conservative Governor would sign an Executive Order to force 11 year old girls to be forcibly inoculated?

Just a few of the Rick Perry questionable character issues for undecided Republican voters to ask.

  7. Perry’s stance on immigration is surprisingly enlightened, but he is still a crony capitalist SOB. He looks like ‘huskier’ version of Romney.

  8. “I’m still waiting for Chris Christie.”
Aside from making right noises during fight with the teachers’ union, he also seems a RINO. For example, he’s pretty big on the global warming thing. That disqualifies him outright in my eyes.

  9. libertariansaresmarter: “a crony capitalist SOB. He looks like ‘huskier’ version of Romney.” I agree with your assessment of Perry. At first I misread the second phrase and thought it was “looks like a “huckster” version of Romney” — which is about right.

  10. LOVE IT! As for Chris Christie, he blew it with the global warming stuff. Unless he sees the light, that’s gonna turn off a lot of people.

  11. tanker: “Pretty slick.” Slick is the right word. I have a feeling the US public has had it with being manipulated by slick ads and grand sounding speeches. I suspect they may be looking for a different sort of personality next time around — low key with feet on the ground and a level of common sense. I am not sure who it might be, but I do not think Perry fits the bill.

  12. Is Perry perfect? Nope. But he’s not Obama and that’s going to be most people’s requirement next time around.

  13. Christie froze fracking development too. Not so sure he’s the one either. He will announce within thirty days or not at all.
I just wish Marco Rubio was four years older…

  14. Christie is also soft on the Second Amendment. His only plus is that he showed some leadership, but he really didn’t have much choice.
I don’t get the RINO or crony capitalism charges against Perry.

  15. Good Lord!-
From the comments one would think no one really WATCHED that video!-
    Powerful and Forceful.
Hits Obama in all the right places and hits HARD.
    LOVE it.
If this is an example of how Perry will campaign he has my vote hands down… IF Palin enters the race I want to see them as THE ticket. Perry/Palin.
Marco Rubio is excellent but does need a few more years under his belt.
I would like to see Perry/Palin ( hope she gets in,if not, then Perry/Gingrich(he is one of the most qualified and informed in the race, but I would not like him for Prez-but VP?- could be an excellent choice.
As for Palin, if she gets in she could EASILY take the front runner position with the Tea Party backing and her speech in Iowa was electric and honed in on the very things needing aired.
She might not get in but if she does things are going to get VERY interesting.
The country would do well with either Perry OR Palin.
Romney is NOT a Republican. Just listening to him proves it. Chris Christie, too. They both are too willing to ‘compromise’ and water down issues.
    RINOS.

  16. I like Gov. Perry. America is noT a one man show any more than is Canada. Perry could get a few good men/women to help him. Perry would bow/cow tow to no Commi foreign leaders; his ego would not allow it even if he did not have better standards (which I hope he does). I think that the limp wristed frount that America has given face to in the last 3 years has done a lot of damage to the moral of Liberty loving people everywhere. The free rangeing style of Perry could bring back the winning formula. We all need a dose of optomism; I hear that in the voice of Gov. Perry. Obama and his swarmy pals in the msm and the Bolshevic crowd have made people cynical. Think of the great things the free world could bring to the enslaved if we succeed? Think of the alternative if we allow the dark side to win because the right side is too critical and they damage their choice before he/she debates the real challenger? I would take any of the 9 over the ‘present’ President any second of the year but I would choose Rick Perry with Ron Paul as vice – or the other way around if I could have my preference. Both men are against rules and regulations that enslave prosperity and people. Both believe in the Constitution of USA.

  17. As I read the comments on potential Republican candidates, here and elsewhere, it is clear why conservatives are so adept at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. We are quite ready to dismiss, even villify, anyone who not only might disagree with us on one or two issues, but even those who agree with us but not as passionately as we might like.
We hear positive things about Sen. Rubio, but hours after he would decide to offer, conservative activists would be tossing the RINO accusation before the media figured out a way to characterize him as a racist.
This is not Europe. In North America, we don’t have the luxury of boutique political parties. The perfect candidate doesn’t exist, except in our fantasies. The choice next year will likely be a simple one: more of Obama and those who have sustained him or the Republican nominee.
Support the candidate you find attractive (if you actually think such a person exists and would even consider running for president). Make the effort to sell that candidate to others, including those who are just as insistent on their own orthodoxy as you are on yours. But if, at the end of it all, you can’t bring yourself to support that Republican nominee, whoever it turns out to be, because you are not convinced of his pro-life credentials, or because he isn’t quite bullish enough on concealed-carry legislation, or you just don’t like her hair and her annoying accent, then, please, stay home, do some yard work; just don’t waste your time or ours.

  18. I had great hopes for Christie a couple of years ago when he took on the teachers, but the more you see of him, the smaller he seems. He’s not a real “small government” conservative.
Perry is a professional politician. I think his studied “I’ll make Washington as insignificant in your lives as possible” pose is phoney. As governor of Texas he had no trouble using the power of his office to create social policy. Texas Libertarians and true conservatives that I communicate with despise him. There’s got to be a reason for that.
Paul is a true small government conservative, and a man of principle, proven by his lonely steadfastness for a generation. So, it’s no surprise and he and Perry can’t stand each other. Paul is unelectable, of course, because of some of his weird foreign policy views.
    It’s hopeless.

  19. These ads do nothing but remind us of the cesspool that is American culture and education standards. Anyone that is swayed by such a thing is beyond help. Fortunately for Perry, this is probably a solid chunk. Kudos to his marketing team for a job well done.

  20. The video is slick but not believable. And the reason it’s not believable is that it contains the same frigging mindless message that all political candidates have been dishing out for the past fifty years. Other guy bad; me good.
Why is this guy better? What are his policies? No answer. Fail, par excellence.

  21. Leni Riefenstahl LIVES!
Kinda makes me want to barf, frankly. Couldn’t we dispense with the bullsh1t and just start repealing some regulations? Would that be so hard?
