Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Hypocrites are so amusing
Another poll to go horribly wrong:
Should the Saskatchewan government ban the importation and transportation of nuclear waste?

Is there a single Canadian journalist who isn’t a complete wanker?
Love the zinging of Canada’s self-professed elites.
Are there any Canadian Liberals who are not complete loons?
Andrew finally revealed his Liberal sympathies during the last election. He used to write great material, but has publicly gone over to the dark side. Don’t read his stuff anymore.
IMO, Coyne seemed to be reasonable in the past but now just wants/needs to be part of the Ruling Class – the left intelligentsia, the politicos, the academia and of course the media.
Dunno, I haven’t given up on Coyne yet..
http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/08/15/the-25000-cow/
Coyne will fall madly in love with any politician who softly whispers – carbon tax, darling? – into his Red Tory ear.
Occasionally he does have something conservative or libertarian to say, like his recent supply management article, but mostly his career is centered around being pissed off at populists. His multi-Twitter rants on such subjects are often amusing.
Leftarded.
I’m afraid it’s terminal.
He can always pick covers for Newsweak.
Coyne done lost his marbles a long long time ago…
and….he thinks Obama ISN’T a loon?
It’s all about the connections. He looked around and figured he could make more money by going full on liberal.
and…very good zinger back to Coyne, Kate. EXACTLY. There are many many other examples we could provide. For example, the likes of the entire federal NDP caucus.
giving Morgentaler an Order of Canada.
publicly funding a biased state broadcaster.
the list goes on and on…
Coyne is now seriously infected with terminal Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal_isis.
His only hope is top drag his liberal butt outta there and get some free enterprise air in his lungs from out west.
Was he tweeting specifically about Bachmann, Perry or (and/or?) Palin?
Isn’t he also the cousin of constitutional lawyer Deborah Coyne, who is the mother of Pierre Trudeau’s youngest love child.
I gave up on Coyne a long time ago. He was a staunch proponent of judicial infallibility, and then one day the Supreme Court gave a judgment he didn’t like. I enjoyed watching him lose his mind, but I realised that I could never again take him seriously, and there’s scarcely enough time to read the things that are worth it. It’s too bad, he’s an engaging character and a good prose stylist, but let’s face it. The lights are on but nobody’s home.
Dennis K, yes he is.
Andrew Coyne’s cousin, Deborah Coyne, also has a child by Michael Valpy: I actually think they were married. The child, however, has the surname “Coyne”, not Valpy.
These people have their own rules. They can afford them: the poor—literally—sods who try to emulate the loose standards of these elites don’t have the material resources to successfully flaunt all the rules and, materially, live well.
Andrew’s also the brother of Susan Coyne, the actress. (They’re from a prominent Winnipeg family with close familial ties, I believe, to the Conrad Black family. I’d imagine that Lord Black’s not very impressed by Andrew Coyne’s “evolution”.)
As a conservative, Andrew’s now quite unreliable: similar to David Frum, another Little Lord Fauntleroy turncoat. Fie on them.
Yeah, too bad, but a lot of our white-collar Conservatives aren’t very conservative.
They snuggle up to us every four years hoping that we’ll continue to vote for them, and they want us to buy their books and newspapers, but they wouldn’t be caught dead having a pint with us.
Snobbery: the burden of the annointed and appointed.
Coyne had his good moments in the past, but I was utterly dumbfounded by the reasoning he proposed when he decided he would vote Liberal in the last election. It was utterly bizarre, he wanted the Libranos because the Conservatives were corrupt, apparently. The same Liberals of Adscam that had run the country for a gazillion years, he decided, were needed because 5 years of Conservative minorities were a threat to Canadian parliamentary democracy. All this when all that I could see was that the Liberals remained the biggest obstacle to Canada’s parliament ever functioning properly again. The Liberals were the biggest source of the craziness and he wanted to reward them for it.
So he became a Liberal at heart, just when they were tanking the most. And now he wished to embrace it further.
Andrew Coyne said it.
Enough said.
Is there anyone left in the Canadian MSM who isn’t completely irrelevant and transparently Liberal?
Nice subtle smackdown, Kate. Ranks right up there with the “tatoo” you sent wanker Warren!
Nice response Kate. lol (O:}
As mentioned above – being a Liberal pays better than being a Conservative. Until that changes, the politicians, the journolistas and the average uninformed voter will head in that direction. No dough-head who can’t hold a job for more than 6 weeks is going to vote for a party that will take away their ‘entitlements’. Old farts are becoming more of an issue as well. My own parents have switched noticeably in the past several years. Now they want ‘what they payed into all their lives’. Between the two of them, they probably collected ‘all that the payed into’ the system in the first year of their retirement. They still don’t grasp it – don’t want to – and now I’m the bad son for challenging them.
Wish I was dumb like my brother…
LOL. And speaking of complete and utter loons, how about that Mackenzie King??
Anyone got Deborah Coyne’s phone number?
She sound like a real good sport!
Take it easy, paul, she’s a bit old for you. I knew her in law school, and indeed I actually went out with her a few times, though we were never really an item. She was very nice, I liked her. The worst I could say about her then was that she seemed awfully naive and ill-informed about the world. Either I was missing a lot or she went off the rails sometime later, because she wound up deep in loon territory. There’s a real element of tragedy in her story, though at least she’s never suffered financially.
