50 Replies to “Let Me Fix That Headline For You”

  1. Ah yes, but according to just about every poll (except the one that counted), the Conservatives were never in majority territory.
Wake me up in four years when such articles might interest me.

  2. ” ‘The honeymoon is over,’ says pollster Nik Nanos, referring to the Conservatives. ‘They are back to the old normal, which is the Conservatives ahead but not in majority territory.’ ”
I hate to break it to Nick Nanos, but poll numbers do not a mandate make. The guy has seriously lost any credibility he used to have.

  3. It was the pollsters honeymoon that ended on may 2. The conclusion that prisons and gunregistry talk has hurt the CPC tells you all you need to know about where nanos stands politically.

  4. Pollster predictions? yeah right….
The last election proved that most of the people they poll don’t vote, and that most of the people who vote don’t answer polls.

  5. Nice to see Giggles Taber still assigned to all these hard hitting relevant political stories. Can’t wait to see Craig Olivers next stunning opinion.
    Yawwwnnn……
Funny watching the MSM still putting the paddles to the LPC.

  6. The Nanos poll of 1203 left-leaning Canadians is considered accurate within 28 percentage points, 1.9 times out of 20.

  7. Earth to Nanos…
    Earth to Nanos…
    Nobody cares.
    You don’t matter.
    The horse is dead.
    Stop beating it.
    Go away.

  8. “…slipping back into minority territory…”
Let’s see. CPC at 36 and Libs and Dips at 26, according to Nick. Since Libs and Dips only eat each others’ lunch, this is just Calamity Jane seeing what she desperately wishes was true.
There’s going to be lots of this over the next four years of the Ottawa Press Gallery desperately searching for some tiny sign that Canadians are going back to soporific socialism.
It’s going to be very fun to watch. You can almost see the sweat from here.

  9. my goodness what would we do with out nanos?
Yet the mere fact that he has to say this even show’s his position another leftist poll ..you know throughout the elections and pre elections i herd all fo that conservatives have not got a chance , another minority yadda yadda bull crap …now for those lefitst’s and self loathing conservaties in here i want you to eat some crow ..and for those who never lost faith and stood true to there beleif’s take a bow good on you for sticking to your guns

  10. Yes, the polling numbers are now just about where they were before the last election.
I think the result was…wait for it…a Conservative Majority.
    Well, I’ll be!

  11. The old Mop&Pail and the rest of the Lame Stream Media and their sycophant’s like Nanos are like Magpies trying to scare Harper the Eagle off the Carcass of the Lib/NDP/Separatists.

  12. The relevant facts: 1.) a lawful election was held , 2.) the Conservatives won a lawful majority.
The parties of the left – that would be the Liberals and the NDP were the losers of that election. This poll shows the only place they maintain ” majority ” status is in the media. Maybe the take some comfort in that knowledge as Conservatives rule.

  13. “The honeymoon is over,” says pollster Nik Nanos, referring to the Conservatives. “They are back to the old normal, which is the Conservatives ahead but not in majority territory.”
What an a**hole. Every party that gets elected in Canada goes through its ups and its downs. ” … Conservatives ahead but not in majority territory.”
SO WHAT? That’s news? They won the election, didn’t they? (BTW, brilliant headline, Kate.) The Conservatives were in majority territory when it counted, Nik, so why don’t you just slink back under that rock of yours.
As I recall, the Nanos polls were always off, always showing the Liberal$ polling far better than they actually were and the Conservatives, far worse.
Nanos is a mouth piece for the Liberal Party of Canada, formerly known as the natural ruling party of Canada.
Go home, Nik. Take a cold shower and simmer down.

  14. “The honeymoon is over,” says pollster Nik Nanos, referring to the Conservatives.”
Yes,Nick, and you have all the credibility of Al Gore speaking on Global Warming.

  15. Expect a lot more of this in the coming months as the socialists attempt to steer public policy through their usual propaganda organs. The intention is to make the Tories govern as if they’re a minority that needs to appease ‘moderate’ voters by not disabling any of the widgets that make up the socialist contraption. Do not repeal the gun registry, do not change immigration laws, do not think of dismantling the social-justice apparatus but it’s OK if you tinker with finance (so long as it doesn’t affect social justice).
The goal is to maintain the status quo while driving a wedge between the Tories and their base over the next three years. If it doesn’t work, the left will become increasingly unhinged because it’s always worked before.

  16. Does this dork REALLY get paid for this garbage, honeymoon over, give it up Nick, make your prediction on the Ontario election, “landslide win for Mcgwinchy”? Sad to see the very people that totally believe in evolution, never evolve themselves. Lieberals have been stuck in Turdoville for so long they think the rest of us just hav’nt heard of the wonders of lieberalism, WE HAVE NICK, and we don’t like it! Borrowing money to hide in brown bags and shower on lieberal bag men is what got us a 600 billion dollar debt in Canada, we have evolved, even Toronto voted in Rob Ford, look for the forest Nick.

  17. I’m not sure that there every was a “honeymoon”. The Prime Minister likely does not make many legs tingle, and his most romantic promises are those least likely to be fulfilled. In difficult times, however, Canadians made a sensible choice.

  18. My friends, everybody knows that elections only count when the Liberals win. Anything else is just the beer-and-popcorn set having a tantrum.

  19. What it says is that the Liberals should stick with their generic no-name leader and that the Dippers need to dump Turmel the Trotskyite.
But as soon as the Liberals and NDP find themselves new BILINGUAL leaders from the Ottawa/Montréal corridor, then the polls will go into another upheaval.

  20. Must have been a slow news day. No financial turmoil to report on? No panic(s) in Canada? To turn an Anthrax album title: the MSM, ‘all filler, no killer’.

  21. “The relevant facts: 1.) a lawful election was held , 2.) the Conservatives won a lawful majority.”
Indeed. Taber’s use of the terms “majority” and “minority” is deliberately disingenuous here.
The Conservatives have the only majority they need for the next four years: a majority of seats in the House of Commons.

  22. No doubt the members of the CPC caucus are laughing their heads off right now.
    Schadenfreude is sweet.

  23. This release of this poll has nothing to do with the feds. The point of this poll is to muddy the waters of the upcoming Ontario provincial election.

  24. In other news, the Globe and Mail reports that Obama, who lost the presidency a year ago, is enjoying his retirement by vacationing and playing golf.

  25. A more proper headline would be :
    “liebrals still in ‘not-a-chance-in-hell’ territory”

  26. With the world economies in shambles, Conservatism will dominate the free world for the next 2 decades or more. The party is over and the Globe and Mail will eventually be going dodo bird too BTW.
Examples of areas to invest in:
    -Pot and pans and cookbooks
-Bondo and Canadian Tire/Car parts distributors
    -Sewing machines
    -Garden seeds
Examples of things to get ASAP:
-Land…Try to get out of city
    -Guns and ammo
    – Some farm animals if possible (A cow, a steer and some chickens)
Examples of stuff to get rid off ASAP (There are still plenty of people sleeping in their shoes who still buy toys):
-Pleasure boats and big RV’s and motor homes (Unless you plan to park and live in it)
    -Time shares

  27. More partisan agit-prop. No winder the Grope and Maul subscribership is in the sink – no longer a national new paper it has been relegated to the small GTA environs.
    Pathetic partisan wishful thinking.

  28. Nick needs to take a holiday in order to catch up on the news. He might find that Harper won the election in May and other than the appointment of Rae as interim Liberal leader, Jack Layton’s illness announcement and the appointment of Turmel the Trotskyite (thanks to nomdeblog for the accurately described name)as interim NDP leader.
It is a sad day in Canada when the MSM tries to advance the political fortunes of a commie and a commie wannabe.
Brian Lilley had it right last Thursday when he had a little editorial on the left-wing views of Parliamentary Press Gallery in general and on a fellow named McGregor (sp) who tried to drag a picture of Lilly’s wife through the mud because Sun TV had the gall to publish the pictures of the alleged war criminals who were to be deported.

  29. There’s been so many minority situations, the MSM has been able to play off the uncertainty.
The result had been a never-ending series of ‘when’s the next election and who’s going to win’ stories.
Unfortunately, there are some who have a difficult time adjusting to a new reality.

  30. who the hell cares. I echo the other commenter who said, wake me up in 4 years and I might give a tiny bit of a damn….HA!

  31. Ah!!
As mentioned above, Nanos has his head far up McSquintchy’s butt and Lame Jane is playing cheerleader.
    Nothing here…move on folks.
    (appropos headliner Kate…too funny)

  32. “Let’s Elect Liberals”
One trick pony, paws the dirt right on cue, amazing somebody at the Gob and Fail is still stupid enough to pay her.

  33. I’d say old Giggles and Niker the pollster are feeling the loss of the limelight. Giggles lost out on CYV’s QP, rightly so. Niker may have a tough time convincing us next time around if he continues to put out this kind of drivel. Who the hell is paying him for this crap?

  34. Quote:

The Liberals, meanwhile, are moving up dramatically and are now statistically tied with the NDP for national support, the Globe/CTV/Nanos poll shows.

Actually, the Libs are not moving up, the dippers are moving down.

  35. Whut!?
    Slipped into minority position?!
Does a party lose seats after an opinion poll?
How is it decided what seats are forfetied?
    I never knew that.
This is why I visit SDA daily.

  36. I am not going back to the future. Speculating about every poll was done incessantly for almost four years. We are just into a 4 year Majority government mandate. None of these polls means anything. It is a waste of time to try and speculate what they mean.
Iam not going to do that. I am done. The goose is cooked. What will be, will be.

  37. It is quite likely that a majority of Canadians don’t like the Conservatives; but when they consider the alternatives they vote Conservative.
Honestly, poor Jane needs to find another hobby horse. PMSH predicted that the NDP would self-destruct over their
Quebec policy once Canadians realised what it was. It is an obvious enough
point that even Jane Tabor and her editors should be able to grasp it. The only surprise is how quickly it came true.

  38. Makes perfect sense to me that the Liberals would become popular when it makes no difference what they do or say. Perhaps people are just happy with the scarcity of them.

  39. Does anyone seriously think the dippers could even replicate the same election result with Layton being ill and having Dion’s sister in charge? As for the Liberals well… BOB RAE.

  40. Re Jane Taber: What proud western canadian said.
You really have to wonder who Jane Taber knows — otherwise, how in hell’s name did she get the gigs at the Probe and Fail and CTV? There are far more intelligent and photogenic females around — even in the liberal camp.

  41. I would be more worried that the NDP is now run by a 12 cylynder sepretist. Who could care less aboutwhile careing only for Quebec.
This is not going to end well.
