Silencing the Savage

Michael Savage (aka Michael Weiner) is a loud-mouthed, often arrogant talkshow host in America. No one is quite sure though why anything he has ever said precipitated the UK’s Labour government to ban him from their country and the newer Conservative-Liberal coalition to uphold this ban.
Mark Steyn shares his thoughts, touching upon his own horrendous treatment here in Canuckistan.
For those not familiar with Savage’s work, here are some great examples.

  1. Can you imagine a guy like this on Canadian radio not getting muzzled by the CRTC?

  2. Thanks for this Robert. I’d vaguely heard of the guy but never actually heard him spew before I checked your links. What an an obnoxious, ignorant (can I say, “vile”?) excuse for a human being.

  3. Savage has a sharp mind that refeshingly skewers pompous leftard hypocrisy.
We simple proles must be protected from such non-pc approved speech of course.
    Disband the CRTC
    Let a thousand flowers bloom!

  4. The sound of toilet flushing signals the end of British tradition of freedoms, in particular freedom of speech. Savage who calls a spade a spade is considered more of a threat than all the radical imams in the UK spewing murder and violence against the Jews and “infidels” and destruction of western values. Compared to the large Islamist population in the UK, I would not in all honesty be able to say Savage is over the top.

  5. Now, why would someone who calls himself “Zog” refer to Michael Weiner as “vile?” Oh, whatever could the reason be?
Savage is obnoxious and offensive and occasionally brilliant, although he’s never as brilliant as he thinks he is. But that’s an occupational hazard for radio hosts. Anyway, his Jewishness is not his problem, except in the eyes of a certain few.

  6. I appreciate the politically incorrect message but there is too much swearing for my taste.
The UK travel ban is really perverse when you put it into the context of who the Brits let into the country. The EU open borders and EU Human Rights Commission have set up a bizarre system where everyone gets in (with full access to social benefits) and prevents anyone from being thrown out. M.Savage might have caused some furrowed brows and hand-wringing but that is about the extent of his impact. The cultural and financial damage in the UK caused by its EU immigration policies will be with them for generations.
IMO, the bigger border concern is the same as the one with the HRCs – the average law-abiding people are the ones most affected by border controls. The Vancouver Sun recently reported on how US border agents have become judge, jury and executioner. Like the HRCs, you can spend thousands trying to appeal the decision but it is about as effective as screaming at a wall.
A U.S. Court of Appeals case known as Khan vs. Holder put it this way last year: “The troubling reality of the expedited removal procedure is that a CBP officer can create the … charge by deciding to convert the person’s status from a non-immigrant with valid papers to an intending immigrant without the proper papers, and then that same officer, free from the risk of judicial oversight, can confirm his or her suspicions of the person’s intentions and find the person guilty of that charge.

  7. Savage is awesome in the way he decimates lib arguments. It’s like watching a cracker get sandblasted…

  8. Hahahahahahaha, I love The Savage, listening to a leftard calling him “a racist cracker” is a perfect example of the “mind” of a leftist.
As far as Eng-a-lind goes, shoulda let the Nazi’s have ’em.

  9. He may be a little over the top in his use of inappropriate language, but I love the way he demolishes the leftie’s arguments.

  10. The UK is an elitist playground, full of working class debt slaves serving their masters.
Keep the Muslims in to create disharmony amongst the peasant classes, and keep the free thinkers out, so that they don’t upset the status quo.
This is what is coming to the America’s. Be prepared as the “Liberal’s Mental Illness” paves the way for our own police state. The unholy alliance between the Liberal left and radical Islam is the construct of useful idiots to bring the west’s little people under control as they have succeeded with in the UK.

  11. Michael Savage would fit in quite nicely with my friends and I from what I just heard. We could use a couple of guys like that here in Canada to shake up the left-tards here in the great white north.

  12. Love Michael Savage, especially when he gets on a roll.
If there is anyone in the media who donates more to legal funds, for military persons that he feels have been unfairly charged, I do not know who that would be.
He is an achiever, has strong opinions, and listeners never have to guess where he stands.
Watching the updates on who is being welcomed, and funded once there, is perplexing. Up is down anymore.

  13. People like Savage give talk radio a bad image, I am glad that in Canada we are a kinder-genteler nation.
Our talk radio personalities can dispatch idiots wit grace and do no resort to calling them names. Even though I may share his beliefs I cannot tolerate his infantile behaviour. Give me John Gormley or Charles Adler any day.

  14. “… I am glad that in Canada we are a kinder-genteler nation.”
You plaster yourself with maple leaves when you go abroad, don’t you?

  15. Hermit you’ve got that right, the hand grenade analogy fits.
The most memorable.. few years ago Darcy @ Dust My Broom linked to a conversation he had with a “Chicano Studies”(sic?) university student. By the end Savage had the student crying & shrieking hysterically on air after forcing him to face the hypocrisy and historical inaccuracies of his professor’s propaganda.
He may be vicious but they call in and ask for it! You’ve got to admit that sometimes it’s entertaining to see an arrogant self-righteous leftist get taken down.

  16. Since this discussion is about borders I’m going to link to a libertarian/Milton Friedman take on open or free immigration. I’m not sure I totally buy into the idea but I do find it interesting.
If you have free immigration, in the way we had it before 1914, everybody benefited. The people who were here benefited. The people who came benefited. Because nobody would come unless he, or his family, thought he would do better here than he would elsewhere. And, the new immigrants provided additional resources, provided additional possibilities for the people already here. So everybody can mutually benefit.
There’s a sense in which free immigration, in the same sense as we had it before 1914 is not possible today. Why not?
Because it is one thing to have free immigration to jobs. It is another thing to have free immigration to welfare. And you cannot have both. If you have a welfare state, if you have a state in which every resident is promises a certain minimal level of income, or a minimum level of subsistence, regardless of whether he works or not, produces it or not. Then it really is an impossible thing.

Note: I reordered the quotes because I think it reads better this way.

  17. Here is the loud-mouthed, arrogant Robertson as he receives the Ordure of Canada, a failed left-liberal self-glorifying charade.
    His words:
“Referring to Republican Sarah Palin and what he characterizes as the “crackpot parade,” he called the situation kind of “scary.””
    …-
    “Order of Canada
    Robbie Robertson praises Canada’s spirit”

Pussy’s is what you meant to say, government dependant cry-babies that allow the world to roll right over us at their whim.
Nah just kidding most of us actually like Savage and his fierce & independent personality. It’s the leftard minority in Canada who censors and hides passionate nationalist speakers from the majority of Canadians who would prefer those opinions over say – the CBC.
We are not a kinder gentler nation, we are a more media repressed and managed nation.
    Thank god for the internet.

I’ll bet you complain about the filth you have to endure in the strip bars also!!

  20. @ChrisinMB
I remember listening to that clip on DustMyBroom. It was hilarious listening to that liberal have a meltdown 🙂

  21. They wouldn’t allow Jerry Lee Lewis in, either. His response was, “England can kiss my ass”.

  22. coach >
“They wouldn’t allow Jerry Lee Lewis in, either”
Yea and Jerry Lee had nothing over Mohammed! That fo sho…..

  23. No wonder he changed his name to Savage; was it pronounced “weener” or “whiner”. None the less, I think I could learn to like such curmudgeon-ism. Puts people in their place rather quickly.

  24. “People like Savage give talk radio a bad image, I am glad that in Canada we are a kinder-genteler nation.
Our talk radio personalities can dispatch idiots wit grace and do no resort to calling them names. Even though I may share his beliefs I cannot tolerate his infantile behaviour. Give me John Gormley or Charles Adler any day.”

And that, boys and girls, is a textbook example of “concern trolling”…

  25. @ dennis k
The reason you have those opinions is becasue you have been wonderfully sencured by our govornment the crtc would never let someone like him speak as freely and as open as he does.
So when you hear the truth the raw unpolitically corrected truth it is SHOCKING to you but he say’s alot of times what i feel . IE he does not think sarah palin will make a good president , he has endorsed her for vice president but not president ..he likes her he respect’s her he likes her politics but he doesn ot think she could run the country and i AGREE
Most of you in hear who do not like savage becasue he is vile or obnoxious …you have been wonderfully trained by the canadian version of the re education camps they have taught you that screaming and yelling bad and wrong and iti s impolite and it must be CONTROLLED you see you are almost like liberals when you endorse freedom of speech you endorse all of it in every way shape sound and kind …savage is a man A REAL MAN who is pissed off at what his country has become …..you should listen to his open mic poem call in two generations …you will have to bing it or google it i have no link nor do i know ifi t is even availible to listen to.
    Paul in calgary
A staunch supporter of the savage nation !!!

  26. He doesn’t allow anyone else to really speak.
Entertaining for a few minutes but totally obnoxious and quite frankly not fully truthful.
I do agree with him on many of the issues, especially around free speech and immigration but regardless of how much he claims to know the issues, his tone appeals to emotionalism rather then rational discourse.
His belief in bible prophecy is total nutbar stuff.
    He is bully

  27. schermination >
    “He is bully”
He is passionate about his beliefs. The people he supposedly “bullies” call into his show, not the other way around. They try to match wits and challenge him from the beginning. The primary reason they call in is to outmatch him. It’s not bullying to win a battle of the wits with the witless instigators of the argument.
The preference of the Liberal left is to have a smiling, polite broadcaster with a lisp, editing footage, putting words in people’s mouths and generally backstabbing guests.
Like him or not Savage is genuine, honest and concerned about his country. The others, not so much.

  28. “He doesn’t allow anyone else to really speak.”
Not true, he just doesn’t suffer fools. Very few radio hosts will cede the floor for random morons to babble.

  29. This is why I thank God every time he sends another pig to rot in hell, for it is THEY who are the enablers for these God Damned bastards.

  30. Banned from Britain. That would have been a problem if Savage had been invited to the Royal Wedding. He wasn’t, and it isn’t.
They should start a list, where you could add your name and get a shirt. Banned from Britain. I’d sign up for that.
