  1. @anon voter: YES, vote mobs that encourage young people to vote are a bad thing, because most young people are stupid as hell.
As you have just helpfully demonstrated.

  2. Don’t worry anon voter if taliban Jack gets elected you can be the first farm commune slave for his local food program. You’ll miss the couch I’m sure.

  3. Allow me to start the prediction festivities:
    CPC 152
    NDP 77
    LPC 52
    BQ 27
    WM 0
Sorry, hope I’m wrong, but not quite a majority. No coalition, minority, whatever, either. Therefore, no election for two years.
Hope the voters don’t pull a brain fart today.

  4. Heard a good one from My Conservative MP Larry Miller on the local radio station the other day Re Recent Polls.
“Polls are only good for hydro lines & dogs”
So lets hope he is correct

“I met Canadians who want to change the country and change it for the better. I’ll never forget it, and I’m very hopeful of the result tonight. I think Canadians want to vote for change, and I hope they will vote for us,” Ignatieff said.”
“This election doesn’t belong to the politicians, it doesn’t belong to me, it belongs to the people of Canada, and I hope everybody will vote today and, of course, I want everybody to vote Liberal.”
“Michael Ignatieff says the experience of this campaign has been uplifting for him.”

  6. Trent @ 10:18, brief and bang on.
    Michael and james, ditto.
It appears that anon voter likes the likes of Castro, Allende, Che and Chavez and is ok with Marxist dictators liquidating “enemies of the people”. These people spawn the Pinochets.
    Neither method is good.

  7. Given the choice between floating around center conservative party, liberal mash of empty party and socialist scam party, I won’t be voting in this elections. My observations from the sidelines are:
CPC – becoming more and more remote and removed from grassroots killing its natural momentum . On own account should stay where they are – a minority government. However….
LPC – In the delusion of long gone past and denial of reality, they refused to reorganize and regroup, should collapse long time ago for its own good. This elections are their sacrificial offering on the altar of democratic gods.
NDP – seriously? one liner in a debate and a big cheezy smile can get people signing their own death certificates?

  8. today in republican history:
Senator Joseph McCarthy dies of hepatitis, brought about by unabated alcoholism. Two and a half years prior he had been censured by the Senate for his “inexcusable” and “reprehensible” conduct during his highly-publicized Communist witch-hunt. McCarthy eventually discovered that it was far more effective to have private industry oppress its workforce, rather than the government oppress its citizenry.

  9. B.C. broadcaster David Berner lets us in on the, erm, thought processes behind his decision to vote Green:
    Excerpt:
“So, Green Party, it was. Then, last week I started complicating matters. no, I thought. I’ve got to help Harper get that majority.
“I detest the demonetization of this boring, little man. Sure, he’s an autocratic putz. Sure, he’s not great coffee company. But he has been quietly managing the affairs of an unwieldy unmanageable country for several years now, so give the guy his mandate and let all the others shut up.
“Then I realized that the Conservative candidate in my riding is married to someone I haven’t had any time for in the past 40 years, so why would I vote for her? Everything is political and everything is personal.
“Then I did about 17 fresh turns of thought…”
    The whole thing here.

    Always on the sunny side,
Walk on the sunny side with Mr. Blue.

“Harper mobbed by giddy school kids after voting”
“CALGARY – Conservative Leader Stephen Harper was mobbed by children here Monday after he and his wife Laureen cast their ballots at a local Catholic school polling station.
Harper, accompanied by his family, arrived at St. Augustine Catholic School at noon.
After the Harpers – who were joined in the polling station by a limited number of camera crews – voted, a cheer erupted from the school playground.
Harper had gone out into the yard to pay the children a visit. A cheerful Harper posed for photos, shook hands and chatted with a mob of about 100 children.
According to party officials, the visit was unscripted.
This was Harper’s first visit to his riding in Calgary-Southwest this campaign.
Afterwards, Harper told reporters he felt “really good.”
“It’s a great day, it’s a great democracy, and the sky is blue,” he said before leaving the school grounds.”

  11. xiat, you’re obviously lacking in imagination.
Prime Minister Harper and his CPC have never really been given their head (horse race analogy), seeing as they’ve had the Disloyal Opposition, Three Stooges, and the unelected opposition, the media, pulling hard on the reins to slow this horse down.
I’m sorry to be so judgmental but you’ve made a stupid decision. It’s a cop out not to vote because you don’t like any of the parties. You, sir or madame will definitely get the government you deserve — and, chances are, you won’t like it.
There’s still time to vote, xiat. Get your butt out the door. Take advantage of this incredible privilege of being able to vote, which a large part of the world’s population is denied. Stop being a spoiled brat.

  12. “The orange surge defied predictions, but will it deliver?
Globe and Mail – Campbell Clark – ‎45 minutes ago‎
Jack Layton wore a confident face, but NDPers who turned almost giddy in this campaign are now living a day of nerves. Their orange surge defied predictions, and its result can still be a wide range of unknowns.

  13. If –I-voted on promises of personal reward,
    It would NDP.
If– I voted based on caricatures and lies—
    It would be Liberal.
If I voted for what is best for my COUNTRY
    It would be Conservative.
