  1. Van Helsing at Moonbattery:
    “As the campfire of civilization gutters low, the savage beasts creep forward from the darkness ever more boldly. In Tucson, public school students have been fed an ‘ethnic studies’ course advancing rabid anti-American propaganda in support of the ongoing Reconquista at taxpayer expense. State officials have attempted to pull the plug on this treasonous outrage, but predictably the liberals running the courts intervened. Some local officials want at least to make anti-Gringo studies an elective instead of mandatory. Here’s the reaction to that suggestion…”
    Yes, that video (second link) was shot in the US, not Mexico.

  2. Thanks EBD. After seeing Vίt’s predictor I needed that to hear that lovely song.
    We are hopeful in Nippissing-Temiskaming with Jay Aspin CPC. Apparently the smaller outlying towns are ‘all blue’ lawn signs, but North Bay (university town) is about even with red/blue.
    Rota is the incumbent. A friend of mind described him as ‘benign’.
    Yep…like a tumour that must be removed.

  3. From Robert’s 10:05 link:
    “The arching coalition of Liberal Canada…had been shriveling for years, even if ‘the actors were unaware’ of the unfolding decline.”
    Simpson is the avatar of Liberal decline. He is one of those actors.

  4. OBL dead… Jack Layton purported to hold a moment of silence in his memory…

  5. CNN chick sez U.S. must be sensitive to Arab (read muslim) sensibilities when Obama makes the announcement. Sheesh! Me, I’ll be handing out candy and smiling at every islamic beekeeper I see.

  6. Gee killing Bin Laden on Obama’s watch. Hmmm, I thought this guy was soft on terror?!? This is going to bring at least a 10 point immediate boost to his poll numbers, which obviously won’t hold forever, but it will consolidate at around at 5 permanent points. Well maybe the GOP will have a chance in 2016? 🙂

  7. Holy crap – could it really be that Scumbag Number One has finally bitten the bag? Looking forward to Obama statement – hopefully with pics.
    Of course, the real cognoscenti have always known he’s been dead for years and that Americans just like killin’ brown folks! Or that Al Qaeda is a CIA/Zionist invention. Or that there are dinosaurs alive and well on the moon.

  8. “CNN chick sez U.S. must be sensitive to Arab (read muslim) sensibilities when Obama makes the announcement.”
    Did she!? Did she!!??

  9. Killed in a mansion outside Islamabad in Pakistan. He was with family members – CNN.

  10. notice wolf blitzer couldn’t healp but say ‘Bin laden has been killed – during the obama administration – in afghanistan…’
    I guess he couldn’t help himself, liberal put.
    Ah well, I don’t care WHAT administration he died under – he’s dead!

  11. Tourists cheering outside the Whitehouse. Chants of “USA! USA! USA!”

  12. It likely won’t lead to more terrorist attacks – Al Qaeda doesn’t have much organization left. What it will lead to is rioting in the Middle East. These people will want to retaliate. Look what happened in Libya when Gaddafi’s son got bombed to bits. The U.S., British, and Italian embassies all were attacked.

  13. Further to what Matt said about OBL being in a mansion outside of Islamabad, do you think it’s remotely conceivable that members of Pakistan’s security forces didn’t know this? I don’t.
    Pop Question: How many American Leftard Rent-a-Crowd groups will be protesting at Pakistani embassies tomorrow?
    My prediction: ZERO

  14. Flipped through all the news channels and all have cut into their regular programing to report this except… SunNews. Come on guys, your in the big leagues now. Step it up.

  15. NOTICE: Osama-related comments can now be posted at Kate’s dedicated main-page thread.

  16. US Forces kill Osama Bin Laden …
    CBC deplores “cycle of violence”.

  17. I was impressed with Obama’s speech. Say what you will about him, he authorized this action.
    Good for him.

  18. wallyj @ 11:17. Agreed, but hopefully the NDP wins one seat, that being Justin Trudeau’s.

  19. In Case Anyone Forgot . . .
    I noticed that none of the Socialist SDA Trolls bothered to mention that today was their glorious May Day. On every May 1st they would celebrate “workers”.
    So in honour of them and the big victory they’re hoping for tomorrow from their Numero Uno Socialist Poo-bah, Jack Layton, here’s a reminder!
    P.S. LOL

    “Aye, but there’s the rub.
    In the final days of this election campaign, Jack Layton’s opponents were left with throwing out a story about his having been to a massage parlour 15 years ago. The Toronto Sun reported that “Layton was found laying naked on a bed by Toronto Police at a suspected Chinatown bawdy house in 1996.”
    The Sun didn’t name the retired police officer who provided it with its information. Layton was not charged with anything and was quoted in the cop’s notes as saying, “I was just getting a shiatsu.”
    On Friday, Layton didn’t deny getting the massage. He told reporters “absolutely nothing wrong was done, absolutely no wrongdoing.”
    It was a classic example of smear tactics, Layton added, the kind that has popped up in the current campaign, with few parties left unsullied.
    “This is why a lot of people get turned off politics,” he said.
    So classic, in fact, was the Layton story that it was shopped around to a journalist in the final two days of the last federal election campaign, in 2008.
    National Post columnist Jonathan Kay confirmed Sunday that he was approached by a Liberal Party insider with the same story on Oct. 12, 2008.
    “I was shown a copy of a Liberal Party lawyer’s Access To Information request seeking details of the massage bust – and I have retained that ATI request in my files,” Kay told The Gazette on Sunday. Kay wouldn’t say who the lawyer is, saying he promised the person his or her name wouldn’t come out.
    He said he didn’t run with the story in 2008 because he couldn’t confirm it.
    “I have no idea who leaked the Layton massage story this time around,” Kay said on Twitter. “But, if I had to guess I’d say the most desperate party.”
    Marc Roy, a spokesperson for the Liberal Party of Canada, strongly denied any Liberal involvement pushing the Layton massage story.
    “We had nothing to do with the Sun story,” Roy said. And “I was the official spokesperson in 2008. We had nothing to do with this then, either.””

    Obama has a birth certificate,
    He will be re-elected.

    The Fearless Rooster is back in the barnyard and will be crowing every morning at 5 am.

  25. Just a few random predictions this morning that I want in writing just in case them come to pass. I put them in-order of likelihood.
    1) If Harper wins a majority the Dippers who now say Masturgate won’t effect voting will claim it is the reason Taliban Jack didn’t win. The rage and anger from the left will be overwhelming. The Liberals and BQ aren’t going to lose as main seats as predicted and therefore the NDP don’t make the huge gains the MSM is predicting…or hoping for.
    2) If Taliban Jack does win Western Canada will separate within 2 years.
    3) If it’s a NDP minority, the BQ and Libs will go along with Taliban Jack and the NDP’s socialist agenda just long enough for the Canadian people to see what the NDP actually have planned and then they will team up and take the NDP down. The CPC will remain quiet and let it all happen. Again, about 2 years for it to play out. The West could be gone by then.

  26. There are similarities in this election, with past elections, and the common thread is voting AGAINST a party, not for a party.
    In 1991, the BC Socreds were defeated by the NDP, after the disastrous reign of Willy Wooden Shoes. While the economy thrived under his leadership, his ethics were bottom of the barrel. While he resigned long before the election, the damage was done….and we were left with the disastrous NDP.
    In the States, the US public were voting against the Republicans in 2008, and got their Obummer. Look at the damage ever since.
    I see eery similarities by the fringe independent voters here in Canada, who are jumping on the NDP train because “Jack is happy and positive and has a vision”, and “Harper is EEvil”.
    I’m constantly amazed how the public is enraptured by a charismatic individual or movement, that has no substance to it, or is not what it claims to represent, yet our history is littered with despots and madmen, who rose to power much the same way.

  27. Harper will hold Canada together. Under NDP the west would leave in less then 2 years. Cap@TAX will hurt the poor more then the middle class,and the oil@ big buisness would get very rich. When cost go up they will just put prices up. Rent@gro. will go away up. Just one old man’s thoughts.

  28. let me see if I have this ‘right’.
    according to the extreme right wing, vote mobs that encourage young people to vote are a bad thing;
    coalitions and proportionate voting that result in a vastly more accurate reflection of the majority opinion are a bad thing;
    untendered bids for leading edge fighter planes that try to ‘multitask’ (to save money) but are in fact not as good at any of them as other designs, are a good thing;
    the electoral college system south of the 49th parallel that numerous times (well, ALWAYS) distorts results vs popular vote numbers are a good thing when it results in a republican victory (george dubya);
    are you keeping up?
    right wing death squads in banana republics that liquidate those pushing for labour regulations, land reform, and human rights are a good thing especially because they promote the interests of the corporate friends of the dictators;
    etc etc.

  29. “let me see if I have this ‘right’.” – Anon voter
    Nope. You got it all wrong. Have a nice day.

  30. 3) If it’s a NDP minority, the BQ and Libs will go along with Taliban Jack and the NDP’s socialist agenda just long enough for the Canadian people to see what the NDP actually have planned and then they will team up and take the NDP down. The CPC will remain quiet and let it all happen. Again, about 2 years for it to play out. The West could be gone by then.

    That’s an interesting thought, Trent. Up until the NDP surge, there was a common belief that a Tory minority would lead to a coalition of some sort. My argument with that was and is that the Bloc would need to be 100% in 100% of the time if the Tory seats exceeded the combined Grit/NDP total because the Tories would be able to vote non-confidence and defeat a Grit/NDP coalition if the Bloc sat out the non-confidence vote. I.E. two can play the Rae gamne.
    With the NDP surge, things change a bit. The seat projections are all over the map now, but the common conclusion is that the Bloc will be the biggest loser. Conrad Black at the NP puts forward a different scenario. He seems to imply that the Bloc will be so weakened that they will not oppose the Tories and will not join with the NDP which would end up helping the NDP.
    I think his seat projections are off a bit, and I am not convinced the Bloc would support the Tories, but his thoughts are an interesting read this morning. The most intersting paragraph is:
    It would be rank cowardice to close without a prediction and a recommendation: 143 Conservatives, 72 Liberals, 62 NDP, 30 Blocistes, 1 independent (not, unfortunately, Helena Guergis). I have not been an uncritical supporter of the government, and am appalled by its criminal and prison policy. But it has governed responsibly, often with courage, and almost always with crisp professionalism, through heavy political flux and challenging economic times, and I strongly hope that it is re-elected. If anything like my prediction comes to pass, the remnants of the Bloc will rivet themselves to the Conservatives’ coat-tails for four years, and Stephen Harper will have as long a tenure as Borden, St. Laurent, Mulroney and Chrétien, with a chance to rival Laurier and Trudeau.
    On the other hand, the polls are so divergent and a Tory majority is still possible so we may not be able to test Lord Black’s hypothesis.
