    I prefer Vladimir Ilich Layton, but, it’s all the same drift.
    Again, it just doesn’t compute that the Dippers could double their national poopularity in just 4 weeks. Its either lazy pollsters, or corrupt pollsters. Either are not a stretch at this point.
    These polls are no better than Dizzy Lizzy proclaiming that Greenie party polls shows she’s leading…..well, if you only poll Greenies, I guess that would be the answer now would it not?
    Sit tight, vote slitting is underway, and CPC will run up the middle to a majority

    The above link actually sends shivers up my spine. I realize that this is preaching to the choir but we all like an ‘amen’ now and again.
    I don’t consider my self political but I come from the ‘L’ that runs across the south and up the west side of Saskatchewan that has been solidly conservative for as long as anyone remembers.
    I personally know both my MP and MLA and vote for them because of who they are and what they stand for.
    I also feel even the Cons have pandered to the left to get more votes.
    The greatness of our country came from individuals doing, period.
    Long may we run.

    hard to believe when i consider that there was a time when the idea of supporting the habs was sacriligious.
    like my pal in Glasgow all those years back who introduced me to Scottish whiskey with his simple toast: he’d rather see Scotland forever lose, than England EVER win!

  13. Where I live I haven’t heard one person mention the upcoming election since it was called. It wasn’t until my voters card arrived in the mail that I knew the actual date of the election. The only election sign in a 4 block radius of where I live is an NDP sign. The big question is whether people will get out and vote on election day and re-elect a Conservative MP.
    The main problem with the local Conservative MP is that the MP is just not very much in the news. I’ve heard from patients that the MP is good at resolving various problems they have with government departments, but nationally the MP is a non-entity. The thing that’s going to hurt the Conservatives in BC is the HST. This absolutely asinine POS has people still very pissed off and the local NDP candidate is trying to blame it on Harper. The HST got rid of moonbat Campbell although he has been replaced by an even more clueless moonbat putting BC in the unique position of having 2 provincial communist parties.
    Maybe we’ll get a chance to take the regions of the country that contain the fewest moonbats and separate from the moonbat controlled areas should Layton become PM. This would include all of BC from Surrey east. The only positive thing I can see happening in the western moonbat capital of Canada is Hedy Fry potentially getting defeated; I just couldn’t stand living in a riding where the majority of population thought it was reasonable to vote for her.
    I plan on continuing my boycott of TV on 2/5/2011 and hopefully there will be a copy of the NP in the doctors lounge on 3/5/2011 so I can find out who’s won.

    This clearly demonstrates that that airport security theater has nothing to do with security but is primarily designed to intimidate sheeple. Might explain why I always seem to get pulled over for detailed searches as my thoughts on looking at one of the airport statist goons are how satisfying it would feel to meet them in a dark alley and repeatedly kick them in the groin with steel toed boots. I make a point of asking them how many people they’ve touched with the gloves that they’re wearing and let them know that a lab tech who failed to put on clean gloves before drawing blood from a patient would be reprimanded. I ask them if they’ve ever heard of Pasteur and his germ theory of disease. I’ve gotten them to not know what to do when I refuse to remove my shoes unless I’m given foot coverings to prevent transfer of bacteria to my socks. I point out that someone might have just walked through dog shit on the way to the airport and that they are facilitating the spread of various diseases (I do make it clear I’m a doctor which is probably why I get away with it). It’s important to talk loudly enough so that other passengers in the line hear about the risks of infectious disease they’re about to be subject to.
    Then, it’s important to wear some socks that haven’t been washed in months that give off memorable aroma’s from the shoes that go by the screeners. Any potential terrorists are probably well aware of this as the simplest way to get stuff on a plane would be to have someone display “arrogance”, hold up the line and let the appropriately submissive terrorists through when the clueless statist goons try to catch up.
    Despite the detailed scrutiny I was subjected to the last time I flew, I found a .223 round in my carry on pack when I got to Florida (must of been from the last time I was at the range as I have no idea how it got there). There were other things that were also missed because the statist goons were so interested in searching my person because of my “arrogance”.

  16. Canadians want their entitlements but don’t want to work for them. IF the NDP does well in this election their success serves as a reminder of how mindless and selfish Canadians have become.

  17. Looks like Pat Martin has turned off alot of recent immigrants in his own riding. There were a couple of fellows from the Chinese community had dropped off letters in all of the mail boxes in the Wolseley are of Winnipeg yesterday. The content of the letter is as follows:
    Vote Conservative, or Liberal, or Green Party and Defeat Pat Martin
    Pat Martin has a home in British Columbia and spends the majority of his time there. Why should we elect Pat and give the citizens of British Columbia an additional seat in the House of Commons?
    But the main reason we should not elect Pat is that he is not a very good Member of Parliament. He is good at creating news stories, but not very good at action. For instance, in the last two years Pat has fought to have the Winnipeg rail yards moved. What did he do? He had buttons made calling for the removal of the yards. Did he lobby the City of Winnipeg, the Provincial Government, the Chamber of Commerce, the Winnipeg Real Estate Board, and other Winnipeg Groups. No! He did nothing but ordered buttons.
    But he does look like he is fighting for us, Take the case of the athletic field for Gordon Bell High School. From talking with members of the provincial government, he found out what the Provincial plans were. And he, Pat Martin, announced the news to the press. It looked like Pat Martin made it happen, though he did nothing to achieve the victory.
    Pat Martin is certainly a good politician, working the news media, but he not a good Member of Parliament.
    And Pat has certainly ignored the plight of recent immigrants who want to bring family members to Manitoba. He has one assistant to help people write applications etc., but Pat only has her working one day a week. He doesn’t care about the gigantic list of people asking for help.

  18. Mark R, that is an awesome letter, and nails Pat Martin completely. People confuse getting on the news with getting things done, and as this letter so capably points out, Pat Martin is great at the former and useless at the latter.

    For all those who think the Sun shines out of Jack’s bottom end….
    The basic facts are as follows.
    Layton and his wife Olivia Chow both sat on Toronto City Council for years before making the move to federal politics. While on City Council, they were making $100,000 a year. They used a fraudulent scheme to get into subsidized housing. What they did was register the house in the name of Chow’s mother who was an unemployed immigrant. In this way, they lived for years in a taxpayer funded house while being paid $100,000 yearly from taxpayers.
    They only moved when a reporter exposed the story. The real irony is that Chow styled herself as an advocate for the homeless on City Council. It astounds me that the media never mention this. It was theft, pure and simple.
    Today, Layton and Chow earn $350,000 together as MPs. They each get a housing allowance for living in Ottawa although they live together. According to House of Commons records for 2010, they spent one million dollars last year on travel and perks. Because they’re MP’s there is no detail. When asked, Layton said that most of it was for travel back to Toronto to visit their constituents. That comes out to $20,000 a week for travel. Toronto is 300 miles from Ottawa.
    Again, it’s theft, pure and simple.
    But speaking of simple, NDP loyalists see Jack and Olivia as the working man’s friends. The simplistic media play up this image.
    Simplistic Canadians give Jack a free ride on trust.
    Now the other night during the big debate Jack had the nerve to say we don’t need more jails because all the crooks are already in the Senate. I think we better make Jack a Senator!

    Environmental groups have also enjoyed relatively good access to Layton. The NDP leader has had discussions a total of five times with the Pembina Institute, the David Suzuki Foundation, Nature Canada and the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society.
    Only one environmental organization — the Canadian Environmental Law Association — has managed to gain access to Harper since July 2008.

  26. Silver climbs back to all time high set three decades ago. 30 years ago!? It was a bubble back then, is it a bubble now?
    But then, roughly speaking, during that same 30 years, the TSX is up 7X. Farmland 2X. Houses 4X.
    One thing is for sure – most people buy near the top of a bubble and most people sell out near the bottom. True whether is is equities, houses, silver, gold.
    Why is that? Because the media hypes the dramatic? TSX up today, another record, experts say will double this year. So the sheeple rush out and buy. And when a bubble bursts – more dramatic headlines. The media wins up or down. Sells ink.

  27. Personally, I think the Conservatives averted their biggest potential Liberal opponent in Bob Rae. Sure he has baggage, but Rae offers a starker left contrast to Harper (compared to Ignatieff), and would’ve neutralized voter movement to the NDP. It should also not be lost on anyone that Ignatieff was selected (not elected) as Liberal leader. In 2006, had there been a tally of 1st and 2nd choices combined, Rae would’ve come out on top.

    It’s too bad that PMSH isn’t so articulate himself.
    That said, I believe with a 70% certainty that PMSH will get his majority one way or the other.
    All of that said, I too had confidence in the “critical masse” theory until Barak Obama was elected. When you can get elected promising to raise taxes, shut down oil and gas plants, ammnesty and increasing the cost of health care while reducing the services the cynic in me is on high alert.
    I suppose we can all be thankful that Jack Layton isn’t black.
