Via the British Film Institute, here’s a short 1931 silent film showing the workaday bustle at the Tower Bridge Road Market, in what is now the Borough of Southwark in the middle of Greater London.

Harper and the crew *still* in denial:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canadavotes2011/story/2011/04/26/cv-election-f-35-costs-316.html
“Why on earth has Harper committed Canada to “lead” and participate in this mission?”
ummmm, to justify the F35 purchase? (see previous post)
Hey, does anyone else have a problem with the Federal Government Employee Union – PSAC – putting out anti-Harper advertisements during an election?
I do. They are the employees of the government, which represents us; they have NO RIGHT whatsoever to tell us what to do; they are OUR employees; we tell THEM what to do. And we can fire them.
OK, IP Address: What fighter/bomber hybrid SHOULD we buy?
Or is your answer the one that got Canadians killed (and are still at risk) in Sea Kings?
Yeah. You won’t have an answer because in the Liberal/Dipper world, you can run an airforce with Dash 8’s and a couple Twin Otters.
Out here in the real world, we know that it costs money to defend our borders.
well YG,
step 1 is supposed to be a CALL FOR TENDERS.
that didn’t happen.
google it.
then study the entire military procurement process.
if the F35 is in fact the best fit, would not a call for tenders AT LEAST produce a COMPETITIVE PRICE ????
Hey Yukon, Crouton made us sell off half of our twin otters and turned the second longest runway in the commonwealth into a parking lot. He also sent out troops to Afghanistan with forest green cammo. Frikkin military started to deteriorate with “Nobel” Pearson and got totally hooped with turdeau and “ET” hellyer. I was there soon after and can tell you morale couldn’t be lower. I suffered two different wage and price controls and freezes and eventually got the golden finger to get out.
Today’s military seem to be getting back on tract even with a minority government. I’m proud of the job our people are doing with the little they got and support them all the way. Please Mr Harper, don’t put them under UN control where tactical decisions are not allowed to be made after TGIF in New York.
I’m still trying to find a list of these fatal Sea King crashes folks go on about.
Been in the Navy over 20 years. Yet to hear of one.
Have there been crashes? Yes. Should they have been replaced while I was only 2 years into my hitch? Yes. Is Chretien a moron? A given.
But everytime someone posts uninformed opinion as fact when it comes to the Sea Kings, I have no choice but to stand up in defence of my Air Force brethern. The techs DO NOT clear an aircraft for the flightline or the flightdeck that they are not personally willing to climb aboard. Believe me, if the old man thought a helo was unsafe, there is no force on Earth going to get him to fly it off his flightdeck.
As for the F-35? Seems a real non-starter to even be talking about it. After all the CPC put in the purchace order for an aircraft the LPC got or country in on in the developement stage.
Don’t know if this was posted yet:

So now we know the reason the environmentalists are pushing those new-fangled light bulbs: they’re trying to poison us! Should we be surprised?
