If the NDP become the official opposition, they will likely become much more centrist if they want to be serious contenders for government. Hopefully they will put some thought into their platform, beyond the Liberal/CBC “trash Canada in whatever way you can to make it less like the US.” The Sask NDP became really stale once their motto became “we can’t do it if it worked in Alberta.”
Ironically, Iggy is from the US and Lingey is from Alberta.

Ignatieff’s HUGE mistake was that he assumed Canadians wanted another Trudeau.
First the opposition parties wanted Elizabeth May included in the debates (it took a floor crosser to accomplish that last election). Then they didn’t want her debating because she split the vote in favour of the Conservatives. Both of these observations are based on viewing Main Stream Media reporting. If the Liberal Party of Canada wishes to remain viable, maybe they should think again about getting help from their Main Stream Media friends.

CBC could see the Libs weren’t getting anywhere and they were really annoyed with the Libs dropping a wad of cash on SUN in a futile attempt to discourage those hard core Conservatives from voting. Before the Mansbridge interview, Iggy was told he had better start talking cohabitation. Iggy figured his rise-up shtick would put him on top, but nimble Jack jumped over the shtick and is polling over Iggy.
If Jack wins the CBC wins big. If Harper gets a majority, the CBC’s survival will depend on having been able to swim clear of the sinking Liberal Titanic.

What would have really happened is the coalition would’ve collapsed in a few weeks and the Liberal party would’ve been destroyed. Instead of seizing that straight-shot to a majority, PMSH implemented everything the opposition wanted and we were told to fear the coalition for.

I think that the SUN has had guest candidates from the NDP (Layton & Chow) and the NDP/Liberal parties (Rae) with no Conservative candidates, in an effort to show they are not a mouthpiece for the conservative party. Similarly, the Conservatives have kept some distance to ensure that they are not seen as a controller of a media outlet in the way that the Liberals have traditionally been with the CBC. The fact that the CBC brass has now apparently spurned the Liberals in favor of the NDP must be very worrisome to Iggy. Watch for some Liberal knives to start being thrust into Iggys back before the end of the campaign.

It’s best to avoid speculating about who would run and who would fight. In a situation like the Polytechnique, you had young people in a horrific event, with no point of reference on how to react. Most of them would have been in disbelief, even as the women were being shot. It happened so fast that most of the males were incapable of making a decision. In a situation like this, only a professional or a mother would automatically run toward the gunfire. The rest of us won’t really know until we face it.
In light of the latest polls here is something to consider: if the CPC get another minority but the liberals get fewer seats than the dippers which would make Layton the PM in a Coalition, don’t you think that there are more than a few Liberal backbenchers that are angry enough with the “old boys network” in the Liberal party that will take the opportunity to cross the floor. They would thus prevent an NDP Prime Minister and will send Ignatief back to Harvard and also deliver the kiss of death to the “old boys network” Liberal party. Just thinking, any comment?

Ron- I’ve been to a couple of gun and hobby shows. Maybe you should use a different demographic. Quite a few of the attendees I saw looked more like potential perpetrators, than potential heroes. Not all, but some.
