Reader Tips

Tonight’s tippity amusement features a little vintage music from the state of Georgia, as the sorority sisters of the Phi Mu Washboard Band treat us to their peppy, happy-go-lucky version of Boudleaux Bryant’s oft-recorded classic Love Hurts. Yes, love hurts, it just doesn’t hurt badly or for very long, apparently.

  1. QOTD:
Environmentalists are…gibbering when asking people to minimize their ‘impact.’ It is obvious they cannot believe the words they have been using, because we have not seen many demonstrations of altruistic earnestness. Instead of, say, Sierra Club officers walking that last mile into the woods to show the world how its done, these wide-eyed folks jet to a distant city to beg for money, funds which are needed so that meetings can be held to decide where to next fly to. No officered activist has ever been seen sharpening his stick…”

  2. Eco-Grifters.
One and all, running cons and scams, preying on the gullible and wannabe do-gooders

  3. Recently, I booked some flights through Expedia, and one of the options was to voluntarily pay a sum to offset my carbon footprint. No indication was made of where that money was going. It was just a feel good gesture for the gullible I suppose. No doubt the Sierra Club jet setters pay these offsets from the charitable donations of the gullible. I guess that would make it all okay then.

  4. GreenPeace scrapes by on a mere 100 million a year.
Some interesting data on who gets what. No reason why is given. Not all of these folks are bad. Some like the Nature Conservacy are pretty good, actually buying the land they want but at least letting people live out their lives on their own land.

  5. Justification for Libyan intervention was a LIE all along.

    SAMPLE:
Evidence is now in that President Barack Obama grossly exaggerated the humanitarian threat to justify military action in Libya. The president claimed that intervention was necessary to prevent a “bloodbath’’ in Benghazi, Libya’s second-largest city and last rebel stronghold.
But Human Rights Watch has released data on Misurata, the next-biggest city in Libya and scene of protracted fighting, revealing that Moammar Khadafy is not deliberately massacring civilians but rather narrowly targeting the armed rebels who fight against his government.

We’ve been fighting for French oil contracts all along, abusing the NATO alliance, and interfering in another nation’s civil war.

  6. Pretty funny business at Guelph U-the advance poll was totally illegal-not sanctioned by Elections Canada. Someone had voter’s lists, special ballots and boxes?
Someone has some explaining to do. The CPC guy tried to be a scrutineer and is getting blasted for “trying to take the box”.
And, it is my experience that out of town students have to cast their votes for the candidates in the ridings where they “normally” live.
Here is pdf of letter between CPC lawyer and EC confirming their discussions and version of events.

  7. AN MP speaks out against the BBC on Israel
A startling opinion piece in this morning’s Daily Telegraph by Conservative MP Louise Bagshawe shows there is still some decency and integrity left in Britain’s governing class. Ms Bagshawe was stunned to discover only via Twitter the circumstances of the Fogel family massacre

Why? No gun involved, no politics to attach.

Brief mention in Red Star, the rest of media silent. Our lives not worth paper and ink if no gun involved.
Thank you Alan Rock and Wendy Cukier for valuing our live in the number of rounds it takes to kill us. Thank you kindly!

  11. “The UN “disappears” 50 million climate refugees, then botches the disappearing attempt”
“Hoo boy, government idiocy at its finest. Not only is the original claim bogus, the attempts to disappear it are hilariously inept. Apparently, they’ve never heard of Google Cache at the UN. Rather than simply say “we were wrong”, they’ve now brought even more distrust onto the UN.
Back on April 11th, Gavin Atkins of Asian Correspondent asked this simple queston:
What happened to the climate refugees?
It is a valid question, and he backs it up with census numbers. Here’s the first part of his story:”
