The University of Pennsylvania’s Global Go-To Think-Tank Index, a recently released global survey of close to 1,500 scholars, policy makers, and journalists, ranked the Fraser Institute No. 1 among 97 think-tanks in Canada, for the third year in a row. The report also named the Fraser Institute as the only Canadian organization in the Top 25 leading think-tanks in the world in 2010, out of a global group of 6,480 think-tanks.

The only reason the CBC still employees Don Cherry is that he gets better ratings than all the others in your upper list combined.
The only reason they continue to employ Rex Murphy is that he is so erudite and so eloquent they’re afraid of what he could do them if he were somewhere else.

Strangely enough,I couldn’t find the Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives,the go-to guys of the Canadian MSM, on any of those “top-25” lists.

If you spend much time reading lefty blogs and forums you’ll notice there’s a great roar of scoffing and contempt EVERY time the Fraser Institute is mentioned. It’s always totally unanimous, always exactly the same. It’s as if those dummies are programmed to all react exactly the same.

Leftwing think tank, what an oxymoron alas the left have the hive mentality and don’t like people who think outside the box.

Every year when the grade 4 and 7 tests come out, teachers heads explode. I see in B.C. at least that they have managed to get about 25% of the kids to stay home that day. Nice.

Somewhat off-topic, but has anyone checked out the CBC’s new website design? The number of stories upon which one MAY NOT comment has increased drastically and, oddly enough, seem to follow a political pattern. Comments on the charges against CPC? A-OK! Comments on the most recent global warming hysteria headline? Closed.

The only good news about that list, Mike in Calgary, is that Vince Carlin has retired, and Avi Lewis and Tony Burman have crossed over to Al Jazeera. ‘Go figure. Two Jewish guys working for Muslims.
I figure they saw the writing on the wall for the CBC and thought they’d better skedaddle. How does that saying go: “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”?

I would agree with your list except Rick Mercer. He has no hesitation in making any politician look like a fool and I have often wondered why the CBC keeps him employed as he has often bitten the hand that feeds him. Read his own blog site and he often goes right off the deep end over political correctness and other Canadian “stupidities” , which I’m sure his bosses are aware of.

Yes, I’m well aware that Rick Mercer is not a CBC employee. CBC purchases his show, which is made by a private company.
He’s a strong supporter of our military and purports to support universal ridicule of Islam, which I admire, but capitulates in other regards.
He’s much nastier to Conservatives.
Rick Mercer is, ultimately, a CBC sympathiser and falls on the left side of the political spectrum.

I did not know that, but he does contract to CBC as they are the only ones to carry his program. Cherry also on contract. I dont know if Rex is freelance or not.
