More Pavilions At Folkfest

Plus! Home for the holidays…

The suitcase contained two elephant tails, bloody sheets, five chicken feathers, chicken blood, a dried hedgehog, two dried chameleons, grass, seed pods, tree bark chips and a jug filled with soil, herbs and blood, authorities said.

  1. I can hear the steps of the mob of Toronto feministas marching in unison . . . happening now right.
CBC will of course cover this story from end to end.

  2. I can hardly wait for CBC’s The National this evening:
“A group of leading Canadian Feminists, including Maude Barlowe, Judy Rebick, Sunera Thobani and Dolly Williams, stormed a Toronto restaurant this morning and vowed not to leave until Authorities closed the business and locked up the owners.”

  3. And right next to Umar Bin Khatap mosque. What can it all mean?
Many of Kathy’s lefties live right up the street in Cabbagetown.

  4. “I can hear the steps of the mob of Toronto feministas marching in unison . . . ”
As long as the sign doesn’t say “Men’s Only Area” we won’t hear a peep from the Unibroads.

  5. “What, no suicide bomber section?”
No, bombers usually are take-out. Baddda boom! /I’ll be here all week folks and don’t forget to tip your waitress.

  6. I miss the old days where the taverns had a Mens Section and a Ladies and Escorts Section. You could have a couple beers and enjoy the hockey game in peace.

  7. Since this place is easily within driveable distance for The Invincible PhantoMobile, I propose an SDA Easter Chapter/Five Feet of Fury road trip. I bet we could pack the place and all order bacon sandwiches. Or Westerns, that works too.
Of course, Conservatives defending Leftist values because the Lefties are too chicken livered to do it, or more likely because they never believed in those values at all, kind of misses Kathy’s point.
Still, it’d be big frickin’ fun and a golden chance to poke the radical Mooselems in the eye for a change.
Kate, we shall need t-shirts. With gophers on them. PROFIT CENTER!!!

  8. “What, no suicide bomber section?”
You’re telling me! I hear the food is to die for.
    Badda boom!

  9. Scf there are getting fewer and fewer suicide bombers since my cousin opened a suicide practice range over in Anwar province, he’s an evil capitalist American marine whos getting rich with this scheme. Its all voluntary in persuit of the 72 year old virgin.

  10. Very hurtful comments here. Don’t you people know that tolerance and multiculturalism is a “Canadian Value”? Why, these Islamic entrepreneurs are just trying to raise awareness of the many colourful ethnicities that we are so lucky to have in Toronto.
And where else I ask you, can you get a Kilo of Halwa for only $12.00? Such a deal!

  11. What’s interesting to me is that they’ve chosen Juba (Capital of Southern Sudan) as the name of a muslim restaurant. The muslims control northern Sudan but can’t quite bring the south under their terrorist control.
I guess it’s in keeping with their MO though: what can’t be taken by force must have a fictional narrative written about it – until the rest of the world forces our enemies to give it to us.

  12. What a disgustingly hateful and small-minded post. So you associate this weird incident with all Muslim restaurants?
What’s next Kate? Associating Chinese people with serving cats? Or maybe Black people serving watermelon?
Don’t fear people of other creeds and colours. I can assure you… they are just as afraid of people like yourself and the commentors here as you are of the handful of terrorists out there.

  13. John, you miss the whole point. It is a SEGREGATED restaurant. That is against the law in Ontario, if not all of Canada and the USA.
    Duh!

  14. The feminists would sit in the women are dirty female’s section and snicker and giggle at their tolerance and diversity they’d also bring along some spare towels for their girl friends to wear lest the site of their hair offend the resturant’s owner. That resturant is the poster child for lack of integration, if they wanted to live in a segregated society why the fork did they come to the west?

  15. bartinsky, way I heard it, after they saw Susan Boyle and found out what the virgins look like, they had some problems with recruitment.

  16. You’d think with the obvious shape of his head, John would easily get the point.
And the whole “Associating Chinese people with serving cats?” is pure Liberal Party of Canada and their self anointed guru Warren Kinsella turf.

  17. Oh, I got the point. It was very clearly associated with a totally unrelated story. Just because the owners of this restaurant are sexist doesn’t mean Kate isn’t racist. Both suck equally in my eyes.
And just so we’re clear… other cultures are still playing catch up. It was barely two generations ago that it was common practice for women and men to be separated in bars and restaurants. In fact, this was apparently still common practice in Nova Scotia into the 80’s.
So yeah… this needs to be looked into for sure, BUT… Kate very clearly (and once again) demonstrated her base hatred for all things Brown and Muslim.
And as usual, this blog and community demonstrated how it hasn’t a clue as to what Canadian values are supposed to be about.

  18. I should send a transgendered friend of mine to the restaurant and watch the owners heads explode.

  19. “Associating Chinese people with serving cats?”
Great, SDA’s own Bi-Proxy Victim John has decided to preach from the Progressive moral high ground.
How about rice? Is it okay to associate Chinese people with rice?
How about fried chicken? Is it okay to associate black people with fried chicken? Black people in the US are very proud of Soul Food (including fried chicken), and openly celebrate this fact. Is it not okay to talk about this?

One of my all time favorites.

  20. John, Canadian values are established by a majority of the Canadian people, NOT some bureacratic busybody nor by you alone.
You have some serious growing-up to do.

  21. Now, now. John is the poster boy for Canadian values. You nasty, racist, intellectually and morally inferior taxpaying rednecks should stop picking on him.
And to help you out, diversity and tolerance training classes begin tonight at Carleton and York Universities. And OISE, of course.

  22. @boyhowdy,
Let me get this straight. I call out a blogger for the typically racist ploy of accusing a “foreigners” restaurant of serving unsafe or illegal foods, and I’m the one who needs to grow up.
I’m due back on planet earth now. Bye all.

  23. John, where has the issue of unsafe or illegal food been mentioned??
Look son, you need to improve your reading comprehension skills, mature a bit and then return and debate the issue. And by the way, the issue is the SEGREGATION of a public place. THAT is sexist and against the law, you twit.

  24. “Just because the owners of this restaurant are sexist doesn’t mean Kate isn’t racist. Both suck equally in my eyes.”
Cept one has big freakin sign for your “eyes” and the other is just you, making shit up.

  25. “I’m due back on planet earth now. Bye all.”
Spoken like a narrow minded, self centered, bigoted racist, progressive pointy headed shmuck.
We can read between your lines too numnuts . . we know what you are thinking and it is so much worse than what you say.

  26. @boyhowdy
Why is a photo of a Muslim restaurant in Toronto followed by a link to a story about the importing of weird animal bits that starts out like this…
“Elephant tails, dried hedgehogs and chicken blood probably weren’t on the top of your packing list the last time you traveled.”
This is otherwise totally out of context, BUT seeing as it’s common for racist rubes to make snipes around the quality of food in “foreign” restaurants, it fits perfectly.

  27. Hey John. Done any work for Julian Assange lately?
And Don Cherry wants to know if you ride a bike.

  28. AFred, @richfisher, you guys are hopeless.
You have somehow managed to totally miss the fact that all the knobs in the comments section have eaten up all the sh!t Kate has fed them, and pooped out stuff like “where’s da suicide bombers sections!”
Yeah, I’m the racists. Arguing with you guys is like this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Vw2CrY9Igs

  29. Folks you got to have a little patience with john at,he read about the suitcase full of blood and elephant tails and got the two stories mixed up.He thought that the guy was bringing FOOD to that restaurant! He aproves of the segregation as he quotes varius jurisdictions where it is or was allowed.

  30. John – I thought you’d left. I thought you were due back on planet Earth. Something about “Bye all”. Something about door and backside not meeting on the way out. We’ll miss you. We really will. But probably by only a few inches.

  31. Dear John:
Don’t disappoint. We await your equal treatment of the Juba, as you feel so deeply and equally that it “sucks” (good strong Canadian word that – oh my). Bring down your plague on both the houses.
BTW, Muslim isn’t a race; though I’m not the most careful proof-reader, the only one referring to race seems to be yourself.

  32. So John, now that you’ve told off all the rascally racist commenters here, when are y’all heading down to the Juba to protest their men-only section?
    Just wondering.

  33. John wrote: And just so we’re clear… other cultures are still playing catch up. It was barely two generations ago that it was common practice for women and men to be separated in bars and restaurants. In fact, this was apparently still common practice in Nova Scotia into the 80’s.
    — Huh ? Where is your evidence of this, and what part of Nova Scotia was this common practice in ? I really would like to know, as I never saw that occur (I lived in Nova Scotia from 1965 to 1995).

  34. John: “Just because the owners of this restaurant are sexist doesn’t mean Kate isn’t racist. Both suck equally in my eyes.”
    Indeed.
I love how, in the interest of advancing SDA’s two favourite sports — (1) demonizing Muslims and (2) mocking “leftists” (this time, for their failure to adequately (in your eyes, anyway) oppose sex segregation practices in Muslim communities) — everyone here is happy to gloss over Kathy’s ready admission that she actually supports racial (and presumably sex) discrimination and segregation when it’s carried out by private enterprises (like Juba Restaurant).
But hey, she invokes Goldwater, so like him, she must be principled rather than racist, right?

  35. demonstrated how it hasn’t a clue as to what Canadian values are supposed to be about.
    End quote:——-
Oh really and you think it’s a Canadian value to segregate females and shove them into the corner lest they offend the backward men folk. I hate to break it to you PINKO but women had gender equality up until the multicultural crowd negated our rights in the name of tolerance and diversity and that backward resturant is indicative of us gals losing our right to gender equality.

  36. John: “And just so we’re clear… other cultures are still playing catch up.”
This is such a ridiculous fallacy. Countries like Egypt were MORE western and tolerant 20-30 years ago than they are now. The hijab did not even exist til the late 70s. Egypt had secular government and s tolerant society back then. Now it’s inundated with Islamic fundamentalism. The same can be said across the Middle East and in many Muslim countries – they are becoming more fundamentalist, less tolerant, and in fact some of them are adopting institutionalized Sharia Law, which flies in the face of democratic society.

  37. The Phantom: “Still, it’d be big frickin’ fun and a golden chance to poke the radical Mooselems in the eye for a change…So John, now that you’ve told off all the rascally racist commenters here, when are y’all heading down to the Juba to protest their men-only section? Just wondering.”
boyhowdy: “John, you miss the whole point. It is a SEGREGATED restaurant. That is against the law in Ontario, if not all of Canada and the USA. Duh!”
Rose: “Oh really and you think it’s a Canadian value to segregate females and shove them into the corner lest they offend the backward men folk.”
I hate (actually, love) to break it to you guys, but given this statement — “I’m on record as believing that restaurant owners have the right to decide who to serve and how to organize the seating in their own establishment. And yes, this include(d) Woolworth’s lunchcounters in the Deep South.” — it sounds like Kathy actually supports the Juba Restaurant owner’s right to segregate male and female customers into separate parts of his/her establishment.
Now, if you believe, as I do, that it’s a Canadian value to oppose sex (and presumably racial) segregation, then in addition to calling out the Left for failing to vocally and visibly condemn sex segregation in Muslim communities, as is your wont, perhaps you should also direct — vocally, visibly — some of your condemnation at Kathy as well?

  38. The sadly ironic thing is that if someone tossed a brick through the window it would be considered a hate crime.

  39. Heh… John ought to come out to the West Coast. Try getting service, as a white guy, at any number of Chinese retail establishments in Richmond, B.C. We’re pretty cool with that out here though; they don’t want our money, we don’t shop there. Simple.
Personally, I just look at their signage. No English; no shopping.
As for JohnBoy, maybe for him not having a woman companion isn’t an issue?
