Boys will be boys … after all:
Jodie Lynn Bryant was enjoying a campfire in a Regina backyard on the May long weekend when a stranger in a passing car smiled, lifted a stolen rifle and took the 21-year-old’s life with a single pull of the trigger.
Asked by his friend what he was doing, the 16-year-old murderer replied, “Oh, just having fun.”

Justice despensed by a liberal judge, the dirt bag should of been sentenced as an adult. Another victim left without Just-US.
“what good did the Long Gun Registry do here?”
Well, if the gun WAS registered at some time, the owner from whom it was stolen will probably face serious charges of careless or improper storage of a firearm.
Liberals everywhere would cheer.
He wants to be a corrections worker. What a laugh. Indians killing Indians, this is what life in Saskatchewan has come to.
Our elected Provincial and Federal politicians have the power to appoint Judges and change the system. Can they also fire them? Maybe it’s time to light a fire under the Politicians butts.
This puke is obviously a psychopath, and as such should be warehoused in a dirty insane asylum or put down by the human society.
Me No Dhimmi @4:01 – “I say Indians even when talking to them.”
So do I, and I don’t recall anyone batting an eye (if anyone found it offensive I’d use whatever expression they preferred, within reason).
“Indian” is not a term that should offend anybody. After 500 years we’re all clear on the fact that they’re not, you know, from India. “Indian” was never the equivalent of the “N” word; people may have said it preceded by a perjorative adjective, but the same is true of “Irish”, and you don’t hear them complaining (about that).
I don’t like this constant re-naming of everything. There’s something obsessive-compulsive about it. It’s a power thing. I’m still a little creeped out remembering the day my grade-school teacher announced to the class that the new word was “Inuit”; I know there’s some spurious rationale behind that one, but I don’t believe language should be subject to p.c. government fiat.
LC Bennett – I agree it could possibly be FASD, either that or he is a psycho/sociopath.
FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder – there are a number of sub-types with different names) is a serious problem in native and non-native communities. I have cared for FASD clients and one has to be very careful, as a matter of fact we have locked safe rooms to escape to when working with these clients; when they begin to show signs of escalation there is very little you can do to de-escalate a person who has profound FAS.
FASD is brain damage; persons with FAS often have characteristic facial features and physical deformities. Persons with FASD often have no ability to process consequences and will commit the same act/crimes over and over again. It all depends on where the damage is in the brain and that depends on when and how much alcohol is consumed during pregnancy. Alcohol consumption can cause damage during all 3 trimesters of pregnancy. There is no safe amount of alcohol.
The fact that this was a cluster crime is also a strong indicator of a person with FASD – once the amygdala has been stimulated and hi-jacked they are in the zone and are incapable of stopping once started. Unfortunately, young persons with FASD want to fit in and consequently are often used by adults to commit crimes for them.
I thought the comment that the accused made about wanting to become a corrections officer very telling from a psychological perspective because depending on where in the brain the damage is located, a person with FASD will be impervious to any type of correction.
There is no way a person with FASD can be rehabilitated, as stated, FASD is brain damage. This person will commit another violent crime.
The only good news is this young sociopath will likely spend most of his life in jail when he commits other crimes.
Or is that the bad news?
It all boils down to allowing Lawlessness.
From there it just gets worse.
Our courts like all other institutions are just interested in Money. They laugh at the idea of Justice.
Of course there are the exceptions. Thats the problem. They bare the men left out rap. The moral, ethical real men are considered quint. The Sharks now favor the killer or malefactor. In the end they make more money taken from the very victims to free them.
Only monsters are In favor of the Soft slug liberal, we never meet a criminal we didn’t love crowd.

If that life snuffed out was one of my family I wouldn’t be surprised if the lad ended up with lead poisoning in about 3 years or so. just sayin’.
Time for another round of cowboys and Indians.
This cruel travesty pays homage to the many pagan idols of liberalism, so in the view of the ruling class, we’re all in a very good place, for it. (Or, as the liberals would put it, without irony: we’re all in a very good place, ” post Bryant”.
Put another way, such cases are teachable moments in the eyes of liberals, and if the choice is a ” teachable moment ” useful to liberalism, or justice for the victim, and her grieving family, the ” teachable moment ” wins, every time. The individual, strictly speaking, is immaterial in liberalism.
I learned of the sentence today and was immensely pissed off. This piece of shit is so lucky that it was not a member of my family he shot. I don’t care what security measures the authorities would have put in place, I would have found a way to make him properly pay – no disrespect to the family of the victim.
I am getting so tired of this shit.
Meh.

The ban on identification of “young offenders” should be lifted once and for all, and it should be done in such a way as if the law never existed in the first place, i.e., those who committed these crimes from 1984 until the law’s demise could henceforth be identified. The public has the right to know, and the ban represents an improper limit on freedom of expression. Nullification instead of repeal? Any lawyer here can provide better information than I can.
This kid should have got life in jail, in the absence of capital punishment. The penalty part of the law should be changed too, but that can’t be done retroactively.
“research into the treatment and prevention of FAS.”
How about not flying booze into remote reservations? Just an idea, y’know. Make it a little harder for pregnant women to get stinking drunk every frickin’ day of their pregnancy.
We’re not talking a glass of merlot with dinner here, right?
It costs the government less to put convicts back out on the streets, the sooner the better, and any excuse or rationalization will do – $$ are measurable, human cost – not so much. It’s a national tragedy.
Just to rub a little more salt in the wound, imagine the jail sentence Mr. Random White Man would get for putting two rounds into this young man’s center of mass in self defense, or better yet in response to him shooting that girl. You know, like right then, on the spot?
3 1/2 years plus time served? Sure, that could happen.
If only it was that easy, Phantom. Unfortunately most of the reserves are not that remote in Sask. It is not difficult to make a regular drive with a van full of booze up the Hanson Lake Road.
Anyway, the problem with FASD, as no-one explained, is that the brain damage makes it almost impossible to have success with traditional law and order measures. Society deserves protection from violent FASD offenders but prison may not be the proper place for them. Lock-up in a place that has people and facilities tailored to their needs is more appropriate. Research into ways to manage their condition, like meds used for other metal illness, is also required.
