Henhouse

Fox:

Many of the existing approaches to climate change communications clearly seem unproductive. And it is not enough simply to produce yet more messages, based on rational argument and top-down persuasion, aimed at convincing people of the reality of climate change and urging them to act. Instead, we need to work in a more shrewd and contemporary way, using subtle techniques of engagement. To help address the chaotic nature of the climate change discourse in the UK today, interested agencies now need to treat the argument as having been won, at least for popular communications. This means simply behaving as if climate change exists and is real, and that individual actions are effective. The ‘facts’ need to be treated as being so taken-for-granted that they need not be spoken.

  1. It’s great that climate change is real. We’ll have more plant productivity which means more food and less snow plowing, ice breaking and roof maintenance.
We won’t have to spend so much on insulation, de-icing, heating and frost emergencies.
Fewer lives will be lost to slip and fall, car accidents and hypothermia.
If only it was real, that wonderful global warming! Nothing could be finer.

  2. Lets all play pretend for rapacious governments looking ever & always ways to bilk their own Populations. Lie, cheat, disguise, hide,by all means never tell the truth. Use mass propaganda not facts since they don’t exist. All at the Political level, using institutions we pay for to steal even more of our money for a small seniority of super Elite fanatics. Gotcha!!!

  3. BBC CBC . . same bunch of skanky pinheaded socialists trying to use their platforms to preach their eco jihadi religious beliefs.
The only difference .. . the accents.

  4. “This means simply behaving as if climate change exists and is real”
Of course it exists and it’s real! Ever hear of glaciations, inter-glacial periods, etc, for hundreds of millions of years in the past? As if the debate was about “is climate always static”. No it’s not, stupid! It does change! It’s about if the current episode is natural as it has always been in the past, or different this time as alledgedly caused in part by fossil fuel burning.

  5. The problem is poor messaging, eh. Isn’t that the same excuse used by Team Obama and the Democrats after the mid-term losses? Of course, in neither case could it be that people have listened to the arguments, evaluated them and found them lacking and/or complete BS.
Come to think of it, wasn’t poor messaging Dion’s explanation for the Greenshift disaster.

  6. First Climategate, then the US midterms and now the Senate buries the forlorn thesis that CO2 is ‘gassing the planet’.
The predictable voices are wailing…now three guesses why Jim Prentice resigned to go back to CIBC.
    Fois gras…anyone?

  7. Gus, that is great news. I caught just a bit of some bill having been killed by the senate on Charles Adler, but did not realize the topic of the Duke of Toronto’s frustration until you so nicely informed us.
Cjunk, thanks for this. As you are well aware and I am just repeating myself and many others, the CBC, BBC and their print media compatriots are just the propaganda arms of the socialists (Bolsheviks).

  8. Hopefully the Canadian Senate vote today to kill the NDP sponsored House resolution (C-311) on climate change will spark real discussion and wide-ranging debate in Canada instead of our own version of this three monkeys approach (three networks, whatever).
I’m at the other end of this:
    realpieceofwork@yahoo.ca
if you want to hear the facts for once, lamestream lurkers.
But I’m not very cuddly. A lifetime of socialist globalist abuse has rendered me user-unfriendly and I will cut to the chase — you have been scammed out of a couple of billion by the warministas and you won’t be seeing any of it back, suckers.

  9. I saw the story on the G & M. There must be a hired claque who pounces on these stories and makes sure the “thumbs” deriding the Gov’t and deploring anything that contradicts the climate cant, come out in force. Contrary to every poll taken by every other media outlet, you would think that Canadians are entirely on board with proposed “climate” initiatives–if you looked at the G & M message boards.

  10. So how exactly does Climate Change ideology based on possible, future, might-happen CO2 emissions in a non-existent future, get rid of real, immediate, dangerous pollution that is happening right now?
It doesn’t. It does nothing to contribute to the science of bettering actual real environmental contaminants that could kill us in the meantime. Climate Change is 100% ideological and based on “crystal-ball” gazing events — it’s the Left equivalent of faith-based future “Apocalypse” speculation, and no different than irresponsible Bible thumpers who inaccurately predict the end of the world. (btw I’m christian — no offence to bible thumpers, just to false prophets across the political spectrum).
Why Co2? Have we already solved mercury poisoning, carcinogens, carbon-monoxide, recycling, nuclear waste, not to mention the massive garbage disposal problem? Co2 poisoning is as of yet a non-existent hypothetical problem of the future. And if the world gets too warm? Great! I miss living in the tropics — I’d love to grow bananas, avocado and papaya in my yard again…

  11. Where is this globull warming? When they say “climate change” does that mean that the fact I was working in a T shirt on Mon. aft. here in southern Alberta, and today, Wed I have a big winter coat and block warmer, is that climate change? This whole SCAM is so absurd and full of money theft that anyone who even remotely believes in it should be jailed, right Mr. Suzuki, your words for us non-conformists to your religion of theft!

  12. The ‘facts’ need to be treated as being so taken-for-granted that they need not be spoken.
You know those shitty little flats most Brits live in?
Well, the fact is that since this time last year most of them have a new gadget that they’ve never had before in their lives.
    It’s called a snow shovel.
The space those shovels are taking up need not be spoken about and the fact that Brits own them for the first time in their lives is not to be taken for granted.

  13. “It’s great that climate change is real. We’ll have more plant productivity which means more food and less snow plowing, ice breaking and roof maintenance.”
And don’t forget the pine beetle. Or West Nile, or droughts, or climate refugees. Yeah, it’s gonna be a blast.

  14. Droughts, climate refugees, no more ice breaking……???
Wondering about the consequences of minor temperature changes 100 years from now has riddled me with worry!

  15. John
[…….And don’t forget the pine beetle. Or West Nile, or droughts, or climate refugees……]
FOOL! Didn’t you get the memo?
You forgot sea level rise, drowning poly bars, big and better storms and earthquakes….(sarc\)

  16. Climate Change..hmm Just what might that be I wonder.?? Is it possible that it’s just the natural evolution of this planet in conjunction with the nuclear ball 93m miles away..? yea, I pretty much think thats it.
IMO and in reply to gore/suzuki/soros and other morons/members of the eco-nazi leftard movement, for them it’s simply a wealth distribution program designed to remove my hard earned cash from my wallet into theirs.
The self righteousnous of the aforementioned eco-nazis is only overshadowed by their arrogance in believing that the unwashed masses (us), are unable to utilize logic and remain blissfully unaware of the truth. not.
Good on the Senate.! (never thought I would live to see the day I could actually say that.)
    cheers,
    Steak

  17. I will sit that argument out until I see all those socialist Brits on poverty rock disconnect the gas heating on December 1st. That’s when we know it’s for real!!! Until they tell them to take off eh!

  18. Good theme , Kate. Fox lurking around a henhouse full of squeaking fowls, mindless, helpless, stupid squawking fowls. A very funny picture is painted when imagination puts heads on those small headed birds, who are too domesticated and fat to fly.

  19. I reread the post – that was you, Cjunk. Please read the accolades above and give them to yourself.
    Cheers.

  20. I use the same strategy. Whenever anybody brings up climate science I tell them it’s GenX’s version of palm-reading and astrology.
Pisces may figure prominently in your love life vs. global warming theory says it will get warmer or colder or stay the same.

  21. Well, this has been the hoaxers’ MO for 20 years. I don’t suggest they change tack.
I must say, though, it is a thing to see how detached from a) reality, b) the people c) rational thought, these people are.
Especially in England where the story of King Canute is told to children as a morality play.
