The letter by Mr. Shouman to the University of Waterloo’s president is excellent, but don’t hold your breath waiting for a responsible answer from the president. I am assuming that the president is what today passes for a political correct lefty such as Allen Rock and the left is only interested in freedom of speech that affirms a certain thinking.
Excellent letter. And yes, sadly, the fact that the letter-writer’s name is Mohammed may help to keep him from automatically being labeled a right-wing racist!
Its a nice letter, but writing to this clown complaining about the “zero action” police policy is like writing to Stalin complaining about the gulags.

Apparently the protesters could not be safely removed because they had used bike locks to secure themselves to the stage. I have it on good authority that no bike locks are fully safe. How come a petty bike thief can break any bike lock but the campus police cannot?
I think we should all write letters to the WU president as well as Alan Rock at Ottawa U re Ann Coulter and the president of Carleton U who had one of the students arrested when she spoke against abortion. Of all places, universities should promote the free expression and debate of any ideas.
I saw Christie Blatchford on the Michael Coren show and was very impressed. I just received her book and will read it shortly. I have been looking for a report on what happened at Caledonia.
The most troubling aspect to this story is the inaction of police, who did nothing to protect freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.
And they’re the ones allowed to carry sidearms.

Additionaly, super soakers filled with that indelible purple ink that was used in the Iraq/Afghan elections would mark these miscreants for the anti-democracy values they espouse.

A very easy solution to the lack of testosterone when dealing with bed wetters is to get real security personnel. I suggest that all meetings have Hell’s Angeles security personnel on hand to ensure that all guest speakers and the paying public have the right to be heard and to hear.
This contingent of security personnel would be able to offset the lack of backbone which the university security guards lack and set an example to these little fascists that their days of running the universities is over.
A quick and dirty effective solution. History teaches that appeasement does not work.
I had friends in the audience. I suggested to one that the next time she attends, she take a nice secure bag of fermented dog crap with her – to be opened “in case of emergency”.

Speedy, I thought of that (duct tape), but it would be fodder for their cause. It wouldn’t look good on TV to have the proponents of free speech duct taping the mouths of their opponents. I think that Oz and Kate’s ideas would be more effective.
The Kat Wombwells—is this a made up name? But good, as I don’t think she’s a fully formed human being—of this world have had plenty of practice at being bullies, LONG before they’re at a university in order to deny the freedoms of those with whom they disagree.
Our public schools, which natter on and on about anti-bullying, are major incubators for bullies. Schools are safe all right—for the bullies, who intimidate most people in their path. The teacher who dares to stand up to the bullies—especially if they should belong to any protected group—has to be really careful: if one of the low life, jackal-behaviour inclined bullies should complain about the teacher, there will be no support, for the teacher, from administration in 95% of cases. In fact, if the teacher should say anything even mildly pithy, in the face of severe provocation—he/she is likely to be hauled into the office to explain—or worse. Appeasement of the lowest, thuggish common denominator rules in our public schools.
We’re incubating, at taxpayer expense, a tsunami of pathological bullies. As all of us here are aware, they’re self-referential, entitled, and now empowered, by the very officials who are “entrusted” with protecting the rest of us.

I heard the guy that stated he had proof the TEA party was led by the neo-nazis and white supremacists. The CBC interviewed him. Conclusion, the guy was a nut. This way the story is preventing the speech. The other way it is these people are nuts. I like to let them prove they are nuts.

I doubt the creativity fantasized above would have been feasible due to the inverted morality of the PC environment on campuses. The “security” personnel were actually there for only one reason and that was to prevent the people in the audience from harming the fascists protesters. In the PC world, these kinds of fascists are one of the favored minorities and it is their free speech “rights” that must be protected.
Notice that the well written letter by Mohammed came from an Engineering grad student rather than a typically more fascist-friendly faculty member. It’s not as if a liberal arts student has to worry about anything mundane like the pursuit of a career, for example.
What would Leftist nutjobs do if they couldn’t go to university for 10 years?

I’m a U(W) alumnus and I just wrote the alumni affairs office informing them that the money I would have donated this year is instead going to the Man Sci Soc student budget.
This incident proved Miss Blatchford correct.

Because of some of my opinions on immigration I have been called a racist and worse (for being in favor of better screening criteria).
I can say with with 100% conviction that I am proud to call Mr. Shouman a fellow Canadian. Now here’s a man who gets our values.
The hippies of the ’60s are running the universities of today. They didn’t really have any respect for free speech then, and they don’t now.
