Dear Mr. Prime Minister

Charles Adler at his best;

And now these goons who run the United Nations tell the greatest country on earth that we have a solemn moral duty to rehab Omar Khadr. We Canadians don’t take our moral cues from an organization that buried its moral compass in the jungles of Rwanda, that shot up its moral compass in the mountains of Yugoslavia, that defecates daily on its moral compass in Darfur.

  1. A Dirge For Canada: “Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
    Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
    Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
    Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
    Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
    Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
    Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
    Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
    He was my North, my South, my East and West,
    My working week and my Sunday rest,
    My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
    I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.
    The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
    Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
    Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
    For nothing now can ever come to any good.”

  2. So true, I have no idea why they don’t sick the police on that group of thugs and investigate child abuse, charge them all with treason, go over their tax records, etc
    There must be something they can do to stop them.

  3. Great speech Charles. Harper stands up for us against the UN many times in support of Israel and other causes just wish he could do it again and refuse this POS’ return to this wonderful land.
    As we are seeing in the US it is time to lead the vast number of us that want common sense and patriotism. Give the finger to Gilles Deceit and Jack Laydown and refuse to accept this traitor, better yet deport his craven family and show Canada will not roll over into a muslim dungheap.

  4. If Stephen Harper wants to regain the confidence of disenchanted Conservatives,the one act that would make all the difference in the world is to do the right thing on the Khadr case.
    Mr.Prime Minister,deport the entire Khadr family,and make it clear to anyone else who wants to immigrate here,that if you don’t adhere to our values,you are NOT welcome.
    I am sending this article to my MP,Adler has done a very good job articulating the thoughts of most Canadians on the Khadr issue.

  5. I just this minute emailed Charles Adler’s piece (above in SDA) to the Prime Minister in its entirety, with CC’s to Charles Adler, Lorrie Goldstein, @ the Toronto Sun, Kate McMillan and Dave MacKenzie my MP here in Oxford County, Ontario.

  6. Pretty powerful stuff from CA. Emotional, patriotic, justice filled pleas to power.
    I would add only that most Canadians will not ‘plea’ to the government for it to do what the majority expect from it. They remain silent but indignant about the government playing kissy-face with an avowed terrorist while our troops die daily fighting them. They will simply vote for an alternative on the next federal ballot they have to mark.
    Also, what message does this send to the troops fighting Islamic terror in Afghanistan? What message does this send to the families who lost a member to Jihadi IEDs? To pardon and privilege an unrepentant terrorist while engaged in a war against terrorists. What kind of demented reasoning is that?
    Just what message are you sending to the Canadian people PMSH?
    IMHO those responsible for this deal should be fired and an immediate reversal of policy on the matter should take place within this news cycle.

  7. “we have a solemn moral duty to rehab Omar Khadr”
    Sociopaths can’t be rehabilitated.
    Repatriated to Waziristan, yes; rehabilitated, no.

  8. I just e-mailed the link to Adler’s letter to the PM to my MP – David Anderson. In my message to him I told him that this decision by PMSH is the reason I will not put an X beside his name in the next federal election.

  9. I heard that great commentary by Charles and agree wholeheartedly. No doubt any effort to rehab this terrorist will be countered by his mother. Deport the whole family before Taliban Jack’s NDP recruits him to run for them in the next federal election.
    The paragraph of Charles’s that Kate heads this thread up is bang.

  10. I don’t know about any “solemn moral duty”, but like it or not this country was the medium that young Mr Khadr and his ilk were grown in. It was our policies and our government that both coddled him and turned him and his family loose into the world to follow their own twisted trail.
    Not that I like it, but whose job is it to take out the trash in this case?
    I think it’s ours, as dirty and distasteful as it might be, we do have a responsibility to clean up our own mess.
    I’m thinking a year or so in the general population, say J unit at Millhaven, should do the trick.

  11. The scary part is, linking to the G+M posts of a previous story about Khadr…probably running 9 for him, 1 against….
    Him coming back to Canada is a huge sh*t sandwich for every sane person to take a big bite out of…

  12. Omar Khadr and his douche bag mother, should be deported to Quebec as soon as he sets foot in Canada. They can then continue to hate Canada with a cast of thousands around them.

  13. Adler’s radio letter is one of the better appeals to sanity I’ve heard in a while. His focus on the real victims of Khadr’s actions is important, and the inclusion of Terry Kelly’s “Pittance of Time” throws into sharp relief the treason of the Khadrs and the devotion of our Forces and the majority of citizens who stand in support of them. Well done.
    Trouble is….
    The deal is already done. Khadr is as good as hear and as good as endowed with $10M taxpayer dollars. The joys of multiculturalism.

  14. Iran still stones women, yet is a member of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Enough said, although a lot can be.
    The UN has no moral compass.

  15. @Mark Peters, you are right, the deal is done. It was inevitable, too.
    That’s why I have argued all along that we would have been better off bringing him back as soon as they caught him and trying him for treason. Maybe he gets less jail time that way but at least we wouldn’t be on the hook for a huge taxpayer funded settlement. As it stands, we get the worst of all worlds: he is here, he is rich, he is a cause celebre and hero for his jihadist buddies, and he is free.

  16. Last summer my brother-in-law and I while driving back from the foothills in Alberta after a wonderful evening of fly fishing decided to debate Omar’s rights. My Brother-in-law chose the left point of view, me the rightest side. He felt Omar should get a trial in Canada. I felt the U.S. should deport him into custody of the Afghan government as he did far more crimes against those citizens. My Brother-in-law grew quiet…he knew that Omar would end up in a 3rd World prison or worse, dead. He understood my point. Canada should never allow him to land on our soil and redirect him to where he chose to be all those years ago to face true justice. Please no child soldier references to flame me, our criminal code for so-called youth offenders needs to be adjusted to 15 years of age as our kid criminals know damn well what they are doing much like Omar did.

  17. If people studied history more they would know that the line delineating childhood and adulthood is a recent invention of the modern industrialized world and that countries stuck in the 7th century make no such distinction in their laws or culture.
    Let Omar Khadr be returned to Afghanistan and tried there under their laws.
    It’s time they got a kick at the cat.

  18. I can’t add to Adler’s eloquence on this so instead I will share my message to Harper et al for their consideration as the next election approaches…
    Khadr in?…Conservatives out!

  19. I just wrote a strong email with link to this great Adler’s article to my MP, Rob Anders. I said that he loses all my financial and electoral support and I will do my utmost best to convince anybody I can to not vote for him in the future, if this poor decision by the Canadian government is not reversed.

  20. Here is a copy of the letter I just sent off to PMSH:
    Dear Prime Minister,
    As the subject heading suggests, I am writing to express outrage about the announcement that the Canadian government plans to repatriate Omar Khadr. This individual (as well as the rest of his family) are sworn enemies of Canada who are committed to the ongoing murder of Canadian soldiers and their allies. The the United States (who is unquestionably the greatest of our allies) had one of their brave, unarmed medics killed by Omar Khadr. Mr Khadr, who has plead guilty of this crime, now looks upon the guilty plea as an opportunity to return to Canada in order to achieve 2 certain goals and a 3rd highly likely goal. Their are 2 certainties if he is allowed to return to Canada;
    1. His jail sentence would be drastically shortened from what would have been appropriate.
    2. He will collect millions of dollars from Canadian taxpayers by suing the Canadian government.
    The third, highly likely consequence of his return to Canada is that once out of jail, he will continue to support the activities of our terrorist enemies (with the millions of dollars collected from tax payers), and that this funding will lead to more Canadian & allied casualties.
    Mr. Prime Minister, I have supported you whole heartedly in the past and believe you to be the most competent and trustworthy Canadian Prime Minister that has been in office in the last 40 years that I can recall. To repatriate Mr. Khadr would be infuriating to many (probably the overwhelming majority) of your most ardent supporters. While a small portion of these supporters might shift their support to another existing federal party, a more likely scenario is that the outrage could give rise to another conservatively oriented federal party. The resultant splitting of conservative voters would be devastating to Canada’s future, and the direct consequence of what would be an extremely foolhardy decision.
    Mr Prime Minister, Omar Khadr must not be allowed, under any circumstances, to return to Canada. Not now, not ever.
    Respectfully,
    Mark R
    P.S. Charles Adler, is able to express his thoughts about this issue far more eloquently than I am able. I am in complete agreement with him on this. Here is a link to his statement;

  21. As a serving member of the Canadian Forces, I feel utterly betrayed and totally disgusted by this sham.
    Is this what I spent 2 tours in Afghani for?? To have some assinine politicians and a bunch of lawyers with thier heads up thier backsides let the enemy in our FRONT DOOR?????
    Thanks for running a knife into our backs, Mr. Harper.

  22. Heather who? Mallick?? Who the hell is this festering, pus filled wench?? Steel Cobra and brass knuckles for that commie deluded BITCH.

  23. Just a question. What does it take to get tried for treason these days. It seems that poor little omar took up arms against allied forces.

  24. Copy of a letter sent to my MP, cc’ed to PMSH
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Dear Sirs,
    I have been following the Khadr story with much attention in recent weeks. I was initially buoyed by initial indications that your government had no involvement in, nor any agreement with, any possible Khadr plea deal emanating from his tribunal at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Revelations this week put the lie to these initial indications. Apparently your government, while claiming otherwise, had fully agreed to repatriate Khadr after serving a brief period in the U.S., and that this agreement was in writing.
    There are many decisions over the last five years I have not agreed with, but have understood within the framework of a minority parliament. But this Khadr business is … I have trouble finding the word to express my disappointment and disgust. Describing these developments as morally bankrupt is, I think, a good start.
    That this man, this admitted murderer, terrorist and enemy of Canada, will likely be out on Canadian streets within a matter of one to two years is morally reprehensible. That he will quite likely make a successful raid on the Canadian treasury by way of a bogus civil suit rubs salt in a sorely open and festering wound. That there is no serious discussion — no discussion AT ALL — about charging him with treason the moment he sets foot on Canadian soil is … mind-bogglingly insane.
    As I said, while unhappy with, I can live with political decisions made on certain matters within the framework of a minority parliament. But, there are some matters so fundamental, so profound in terms of moral First Principles, that can brook no compromise. This Khadr affair is one. And, it is here where I must unfortunately break company with the Conservative Party of Canada. A serious moral principle is in play here, and has been mortally compromised with the agreement to repatriate Khadr. I cannot explain it with more eloquence than the good Charles Adler, and encourage you to read or listen to the transcript here:
    http://www.charlesadler.com/2010/11/dear-prime-minister.html
    I have never withheld a vote. Never spoiled a ballot. Never voted ‘none of the above.’ In truth, I’m not quite certain what formal procedure, if any, there is to register a non-vote in Canada. I will be researching this matter in due course. Because, I cannot compromise on moral First Principles. Unless this Khadr business is reversed post-haste, I will not be voting CPC in the upcoming election, whenever that may be.
    Yours truly,
  25. Heather Mallick is a morally-bankrupt, self-righteous, self-deluded, disgusting, ignorant pig. She has just been added to the list of people I won’t cross the street to urinate on if afire. She’s more of an enemy to Canada than the Khadrs.
  26. The most insulting thing about that for me is that I will be paying for Khadr’s airline ticket back to Canada.
    When he arrives, many things might occur. He may slip and fall, or drown in a bathtub, etc. But the most damning thing is that he WILL ARRIVE HERE BY PLANE.
    Canadian federal government did nothing to help my wife return to Canada, when our former ‘motherland’ kidnapped her – a Canadian citizen – by refusing to issue her a passport. But a terrorist – of course, he will get consular service and a ticket. I puke on Canadian government, where one needs to be a terrorist in order to get help.
    What a f4cking upside down society we have become.
  27. There’s a person who knows all about Rawanda, his name is Senator Romeo Dallaire. He’s the same person who has repeatedly stated Kadhr was a “child soldier” and has been calling for him to be returned “home” to be taken care of by our justice system.
    The Khadr klan used Canada as a safe haven, nice place to give birth to little terrorists to go fight against the country and our allies.
  28. Great letters to PM, Minister, MPs.
    Mine to my MP consisted of eight succinct lines and his office fwded it to the minister.
    Keep it short, keep it simple. In other words, state your opinion in as crisp and brief a message as possible.
    Write, write, write. They might not have time to read, but sheer numbers will do it.
  29. It’s Canada’s “solemn moral duty,” says the UN? What do they know about solemn, moral, or duty?
    Our solemn moral duty is to try Khadr for treason, jail him for a long, long time or, better yet, deport him and his family. They care nothing for Canada, only their perks and privileges as a protected visible minority.
    My family and I work hard, pay all of our own bills, and are taxed to the max. Why should we pay one-red-cent towards either Khadr’s “rehabilitation” (yeah, sure) or his family’s welfare cheques when they want to blow us out of the water?
    No wonder Mark Steyn calls our country the Deranged Dominion.
  30. What Charles Adler said.
    The Khadrs are in Canada because it is convenient for them and how convenient that their country will now house and “re-rehabilitate” them?! Omar Khadr smiled when he declared how happy it made him feel to kill an American. Will he smile that same stupid smile when he declares how happy he was to commit treason and participate in the deaths of OUR soldiers?
    The UN is – to say the very least- a morally bankrupt organisation. Not only should we never take our cues from them, we shouldn’t even be associated with them. We should withdraw today.
  31. Can’t deport a citizen, that’s the thing.
    Like I said many times – our government will not do anything about muslim terror threat. It’s us, the people, who have to get off our collective ass and make muslim’s life in Canada unbearable in order to make them leave.
    Not build the mosques for them, not fund their “religious” institutions, not provide for their security – no, on the contrary – make their life absolutely impossible thru exclusion, intimidation, violence, ridicule and all other means possible. They don’t understand good relations – only overpowering force.
  32. All I have to say is that Charles Adler said it all and he nails Healther Mallick in the process.
    Praises our Troops and our real Canadian spirit, heart and fealty to what is good and right about being Canadian. Every MP should listen to this and take it to heart. They need to realize how the Canadian people REALLY feel and Charles articulated that perfectly.
    I cried when listening to the Firefighter who died in his basement apartment and how he was so respected and cared for.
    Thank you , Charles Adler.
  33. Wow! I was moved to tears by the letter Charles Adler quoted about the deceased firefighter Robert Wilson. It’s heroes like this who are devalued and whose memories are desecrated when we give even one penny to families like the Khadrs.
    Canada needs to come to its senses.
  34. Great rant, but one question.
    Adler insists the medic was unarmed. Not sure of that’s factual.
    Having said that, our leftist’s hero did lob a grenade at somebody who was approaching him with the humanitarian attempt of helping him after the poor baby had been shot.
  35. “We Canadians don’t take our moral cues from an organization…”
    Yes, unfortunately, we do. Individually we try not to – but too many Canadians of convenience (or, a second interp of CINO – Canadians in name only) do. Bin Layton, Iggy, and a substantial part of Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa do.
  36. Perhaps this is the time that the sins of the father should be visited upon the son and the rest of the family! If they are so unhappy with Canada then I for one will gladly donate to a fund to pay for Air Canada to transport them all back to Afghanistan where they seemed to be so happy. After all young Omar has lived most of his young life in Pakistan and surrounding area and then in America/Cuba he doesn’t know squat about Canada other than it is a free meal ticket.
  37. I was absolutely flabberghasted by the shallowness of Heather Mallick as Charles Adler quoted her. Are all people with names that are the same as anyone who might have done evil, now guilty of same? Is Michael Ignatieff, whose forbears had some connection to the Czars, guilty of the oppression of the peasants of the steppes? We’ll have to do a check on the Mallick name to see if there is any connection to criminality.
  38. It is my hope that the application by Omar that will be “gladly accepted” will immediately be returned unopened with a big red “DENIED” stamped on it.
    Call me a fool for believing, but I remain hopefull.
  39. My MP is Pat Martin, so there’s not much point in contacting him. However, I did email the PM.
  40. larben, I believe that Michael Ignatieff’s grandfather Paul was the last Minister of Education under Nicholas II. The Provisional Government took power after Nicholas’s abdication and replaced Mr Iffy’s gpa with Andrei Manuilov, a Kadet (Liberal).
  41. Heather needs to be on a flight, any flight that the terrorist are able to influence.Douche……
  42. If the government won’t charge this POS with treason, then perhaps a group of concerned citizens can start the prosecution. We are currently at war with islamofascists in Afghanistan and were at war with them when Khadr was captured (assuming that the NATO treaty obligated us to help the US when they were attacked).
    Perhaps some of the lawyers on this group can advise how best to get such a charge of treason filed.
    OTOH, I’m sure that there are some prisoners in the US prison that this POS is going to serve some time who might be induced through a small cash donation to ensure that he accidentally falls and hits his head on a hard object or some other accident befalls him so that we won’t have to worry about his return to Canada. I’m sure that the cost of arranging this is far far less than the cost of keeping this traitor on welfare for the rest of his life.
