4300 Miles Later

And I’m home. We had a very successful trip, with nearly every dog in the van scoring at least one major win over the two weekends we showed, starting with my own “Venus” at the Miniature Schnauzer Club of Michigan specialty, and culminating with handling the 8 1/2 month puppy “Mystique’s Finding Neverland” (Thriller) to Best of Winners at the American Miniature Schnauzer Club national at Montgomery County. He’s bred and owned by a good friend, but like everyone else on the string, a member of the extended Minuteman “family”.

Thanks to all the guest bloggers who filled in so ably, yet again. Blogging will be a bit slow while I gather my wits and catch up on both current events and sleep…

  1. She’s smaller than she appears when alone with nothing to compare her to. (Venus, not Kate)

  2. A warm welcome back Kate and congratulations!
    Good dog!
    Who’s a good dog!/to the dogs.

  3. That “Venus” has both her arms…and her head…a solid Conservative one too!
    Welcome back Kate!

  4. Magnificent competitor.
    Handler looks pretty good also.

Just an all around good show.

    Congratulations.

  5. Oh, now I get how you set the pose.. Pin his heels and tail to a big fat rope….but isn’t that cheating? ;~))

  6. We are blessed to have you safely returned after your bountiful voyage. Looking forward to the stories of victories and triumphs.
Any new wines or beer that you might recommend from your adventure?
    Cheers!

  7. Thank Alla Kate is back! Not to diminish the quality of the guest bloggers’ posts, but y’know…. Kate’s the absolute best.

  8. Great job Kate! Great job Venus!
Well, It looks like we are on the count down to 20 million…. I remember the first. Good job Kate, thank you for everything you do.

  9. Welcome back and congrats! Beautiful dog! I guess you are tired from the travels but it sounds like a great experience. Thanks to guest bloggers too.
Wow…one picture of Kate sure gets a stir around here…lol…can’t blame you guys tho. Conservative (small c) girls are the best, right?
Mark…word got out awhile ago that Lance was the lucky guy ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Since you’re all making borderline-inappropriate comments about Kate’s appearance, I’d like to point out that she bears a distinct physical resemblance to the young Gloria Steinem.
And yes, apparently Steinem was the “hot feminist” back in the day.
Anyway, I’m glad Kate’s back, to liberate us from the EBD/Cjunk tyranny! (I kid because I love, to quote Krust the Clown.)
    Congrats re. doggies.

  11. Brava, Kate–and congrats to your little dogs too!
It’s good to have you back. (Many thanks to EBD and the rest of the crew.)

  12. Welcome back, Kate!
Now that you are home and rested, how about a contest or a poll?
For instance, guess the date your SDA site will hit 20,000,000 or the date of McMillan #7 is starting production or will you or should you join SUN TV as a regular contributor?
    Fun stuff!

  13. While I appreciate the fact that you show your fans a picture or two of your endeavors, I would be remiss if I didn’t chide the photographer for taking a picture of a rope when the real subjects are behind it.
You owe it to yourself to have a portrait of you “showing”, if that is the right term, your pride & joys. An official press release version suitable for addition in the next Kennel Klub article written about your Schnauzer successes.
Oh, congratulations to you on your showings and surviving 4300 miles on the road.

  14. It was the only photo I could find that didn’t make me look like I hadn’t slept the night before – which I hadn’t!

  15. ‘So good to see both you and one of your beautiful dogs, Kate.
Welcome home! Guest bloggers were GR-8.

  16. yes indeed..a few rather dodgey remarks re the pulchitrudinossity of Herself….regrettable really…
you’ll notice i kept my remarks within the classical tradition…which is my style…classy yet with a soupcon of the scintillatingly pimpy…
one musn’t appear too eager…restraint above all mes amis…observe the bon ton YET somehow insert the merest hint of louche…
    again…i am a master of the metier….
    soon i will have a website…lecons…and paypal!

  17. Congratulations to Kate McMillan and Lance on their engagement!
Wow, who would have thunk it!!
Kathy and Arnie, now Kate McMillan and Lance!!
    Woot!
    Happy day for conservative bloggers!!!
