Losing Our Heads

… to be progressive:

Even with the Constitution on his side, Jones was in effect stripped of equal standing in the eyes of his fellow citizens. Little wonder, then, that his bank actually called in his church’s mortgage; his insurance company actually canceled his church’s policy; and his Internet server actually pulled the plug on his website — all repercussions of his planned 9/11 demonstration. Inside of a week, Jones achieved a state on nonpersonhood that exceeds that of most convicted criminals, despite the fact that the only law he contemplated breaking was Islam’s.

  1. Abe…you completely missed my piont.
If you or I wish to take a stand (which I agree with) against these Islamicist facists, no problem with me.
Take the stand and absorb the consequences, or, better yet, fight back. I have two best friends named Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson.
But for this jerk to sit comfortably in Florida and place troops at risk because of his ill-advised action, that is where I draw the line.

  2. Well you better get ready to abandon anything that Islam says is an “ill advised action” then. Because the “place troops at risk” argument is now going to be the first line of attack by the progressives in their efforts to be obsequious to the global jihad. This argument is only going to get broader and broader now that it has been accepted by mainstream conservatism.

You are wrong when you say there are no moderate Muslims. I know a few, and those I know are as normal as you or I, and are also horrified at the disgusting abuses that the radical Muslims are perpetuating.
It is a mistake to tar everyone with the same brush.
Under your logic, as a Christian, I would be lumped in together with this nutbar Jones in Florida…I do not accept that.

  4. Bruce @9:13 – “Jones was being uneccessarily provocative.”
    I agree, but so what?
As for putting troops in danger, the only thing we could do to keep troops out of danger would be to surrender unconditionally and convert on masse (that wouldn’t work either because someone would figure we’d picked the wrong sect). I continue to think Jones is a kook, but I’ll defend our (the West’s) kook and his freedom to be a kook rather than endorse the appeasement of their batsh*t crazy murderers. I am not interested in trying to mollify people who commit atrocities at the slightest excuse. That way lies madness.

“This argument is only going to get broader and broader now that it has been accepted by mainstream conservatism”
I had no idea that my comment would be interpreted as somehow being a concession to these Muslim thugs.
I do not know what you have done in your life.
But let me assure you that I have been there and done that, placed my life and personal safety on the line for my country, and have a number of scars to prove it.
And my constant absences from home, especially when my children were little, represented a sacrifice that I imposed upon them, because the dad that should have been there was simply not home, where most normal dads are supposed to be.
My point is that being unnecessarily provocative, knowing full well what the response will be, is OK if one is prepared to accept responsibily…but is not OK when one’s actions place others at risk.

I am in agreement with Bruce. I know several muslims who are totally normal people who are great citizens and Canadians. A lot depends on where they come from and which sect they belong to. The Ismailis are an especially fine group, very worldly, invariably educated, not hung up on religious foolishness. The daughters are educated and treated equally to the sons. This group is very akin to many Jews and Zoroastrians that I know.
Too bad most muslims regard the Ismaili as heretics and apostates. They would be an excellent role model.
There is also a fairly cosmopolitan group that comes from Pakistan and India who have no issues.

  7. “.Fixed for you. There are NO moderate Muslims”
    I disagree.
However the problem with moderate Muslims is that they are moderate not because Islam is moderate but they are moderate in spite of Islam religious teaching. Therefore in discussion with non-moderate Muslims (and there are many of these) they do not have many arguments.

  8. I agree with Cjunk and after reading and seeing so much detrimental about Islam I fail to see how anyone could practice this theocracy and yet support our western rights and freedoms. I listen to Raheel Raza and sense her dilemma in trying to reconcile these opposite poles.
When asked what Islam can bring to enhance Western culture Hirsi Ali stated “Nothing!”. So far I have not seen anything that would challenge her statement.

  9. regarding the RBC and the calling of the mortgage:
I followed Mississauga Matt’s link. RBC called the loan long before the Koran burning announcement – as in almost a year before. Because of a late payment to the IRS, the IRS issued a lien against the church, which triggered a covenant in the mortgage agreement with RBC.
The original article said that the loan was called as a result (“repercussion”, to quote them) of the Koran burning announcement. This is demonstrably false. We’d be all over an MSM source that posted such junk. I call shenanigans on “bigpeace”.

  10. Bruce et.al.There can be NO moderate Muslim. You either follow the goat loving, paedophiles ways(the Koran,Sadith, etc),or you are an infidel.I can no more be a moderate Christian then there can be a moderate Muslim. But my Christian Bible evolved beyond killing any and all who did not follow it.The Koran has not..Smell the coffee.
Islam IS NOT a religion. It is a political/warfaring ideology that we in the West had better look at before it is too late.
Ask your wife/daughter/nieces,etc how they feel about being wrapped in a gunny sack, and their worth,by the Koran, only being worth 1/4 of yours or mine? Or the fact that I can rape them, and they are the one’s guilty of a crime?
